وَمَآ

And not

wamā

أَمْرُنَآ

(is) Our Command

amrunā

إِلَّا

but

illā

وَٰحِدَةٌۭ

one

wāḥidatun

كَلَمْحٍۭ

like the twinkling

kalamḥin

بِٱلْبَصَرِ

(of) the eye

bil-baṣari

٥٠

And Our command is but one, like a glance of the eye.

— Saheeh International

وَلَقَدْ

And certainly

walaqad

أَهْلَكْنَآ

We destroyed

ahlaknā

أَشْيَاعَكُمْ

your kinds

ashyāʿakum

فَهَلْ

so is (there)

fahal

مِن

any

min

مُّدَّكِرٍۢ

who will receive admonition

muddakirin

٥١

And We have already destroyed your kinds,1 so is there any who will remember?

— Saheeh International

وَكُلُّ

And every

wakullu

شَىْءٍۢ

thing

shayin

فَعَلُوهُ

they did

faʿalūhu

فِى

(is) in

ٱلزُّبُرِ

the written records

l-zuburi

٥٢

And everything they did is in written records.

— Saheeh International

وَكُلُّ

And every

wakullu

صَغِيرٍۢ

small

ṣaghīrin

وَكَبِيرٍۢ

and big

wakabīrin

مُّسْتَطَرٌ

(is) written down

mus'taṭarun

٥٣

And every small and great [thing] is inscribed.

— Saheeh International

إِنَّ

Indeed

inna

ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ

the righteous

l-mutaqīna

فِى

(will be) in

جَنَّـٰتٍۢ

gardens

jannātin

وَنَهَرٍۢ

and river

wanaharin

٥٤

Indeed, the righteous will be among gardens and rivers,

— Saheeh International

فِى

In

مَقْعَدِ

a seat

maqʿadi

صِدْقٍ

(of) honor

ṣid'qin

عِندَ

near

ʿinda

مَلِيكٍۢ

a King

malīkin

مُّقْتَدِرٍۭ

Most Powerful

muq'tadirin

٥٥

In a seat of honor near a Sovereign, Perfect in Ability.1

— Saheeh International

Ar-Raĥmān

The Beneficent

الرحمن

ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنُ

The Most Gracious

al-raḥmānu

١

The Most Merciful

— Saheeh International

عَلَّمَ

He taught

ʿallama

ٱلْقُرْءَانَ

the Quran

l-qur'āna

٢

Taught the Qur’ān,

— Saheeh International

خَلَقَ

He created

khalaqa

ٱلْإِنسَـٰنَ

[the] man

l-insāna

٣

Created man,

— Saheeh International

عَلَّمَهُ

He taught him

ʿallamahu

ٱلْبَيَانَ

[the] speech

l-bayāna

٤

[And] taught him eloquence.

— Saheeh International

ٱلشَّمْسُ

The sun

al-shamsu

وَٱلْقَمَرُ

and the moon

wal-qamaru

بِحُسْبَانٍۢ

by (precise) calculation

biḥus'bānin

٥

The sun and the moon [move] by precise calculation,

— Saheeh International

وَٱلنَّجْمُ

And the stars

wal-najmu

وَٱلشَّجَرُ

and the trees

wal-shajaru

يَسْجُدَانِ

both prostrate

yasjudāni

٦

And the stars and trees prostrate.1

— Saheeh International

وَٱلسَّمَآءَ

And the heaven

wal-samāa

رَفَعَهَا

He raised it

rafaʿahā

وَوَضَعَ

and He has set up

wawaḍaʿa

ٱلْمِيزَانَ

the balance

l-mīzāna

٧

And the heaven He raised and imposed the balance

— Saheeh International

أَلَّا

That not

allā

تَطْغَوْا۟

you may transgress

taṭghaw

فِى

in

ٱلْمِيزَانِ

the balance

l-mīzāni

٨

That you not transgress within the balance.

— Saheeh International

وَأَقِيمُوا۟

And establish

wa-aqīmū

ٱلْوَزْنَ

the weight

l-wazna

بِٱلْقِسْطِ

in justice

bil-qis'ṭi

وَلَا

and (do) not

walā

تُخْسِرُوا۟

make deficient

tukh'sirū

ٱلْمِيزَانَ

the balance

l-mīzāna

٩

And establish weight in justice and do not make deficient the balance.

— Saheeh International

وَٱلْأَرْضَ

And the earth

wal-arḍa

وَضَعَهَا

He laid it

waḍaʿahā

لِلْأَنَامِ

for the creatures

lil'anāmi

١٠

And the earth He laid [out] for the creatures.

— Saheeh International

فِيهَا

Therein

fīhā

فَـٰكِهَةٌۭ

(is) fruit

fākihatun

وَٱلنَّخْلُ

and date-palms

wal-nakhlu

ذَاتُ

having

dhātu

ٱلْأَكْمَامِ

sheaths

l-akmāmi

١١

Therein is fruit and palm trees having sheaths [of dates]

— Saheeh International

وَٱلْحَبُّ

And the grain

wal-ḥabu

ذُو

having

dhū

ٱلْعَصْفِ

husk

l-ʿaṣfi

وَٱلرَّيْحَانُ

and scented plants

wal-rayḥānu

١٢

And grain having husks and scented plants.

— Saheeh International

فَبِأَىِّ

So which

fabi-ayyi

ءَالَآءِ

(of the) favors

ālāi

رَبِّكُمَا

(of) your Lord

rabbikumā

تُكَذِّبَانِ

will you both deny

tukadhibāni

١٣

So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?1

— Saheeh International

خَلَقَ

He created

khalaqa

ٱلْإِنسَـٰنَ

the man

l-insāna

مِن

from

min

صَلْصَـٰلٍۢ

clay

ṣalṣālin

كَٱلْفَخَّارِ

like the pottery

kal-fakhāri

١٤

He created man from clay like [that of] pottery.

— Saheeh International

وَخَلَقَ

And He created

wakhalaqa

ٱلْجَآنَّ

the jinn

l-jāna

مِن

from

min

مَّارِجٍۢ

a smokeless flame

mārijin

مِّن

of

min

نَّارٍۢ

fire

nārin

١٥

And He created the jinn from a smokeless flame of fire.

— Saheeh International

فَبِأَىِّ

So which

fabi-ayyi

ءَالَآءِ

(of the) favors

ālāi

رَبِّكُمَا

(of) your Lord

rabbikumā

تُكَذِّبَانِ

will you both deny

tukadhibāni

١٦

So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?
