قُلْ Say qul Travel sīrū in fī the earth l-arḍi and see fa-unẓurū how kayfa was kāna (the) end ʿāqibatu (of) those who alladhīna (were) before min (were) before qablu Most of them were kāna Most of them were aktharuhum polytheists mush'rikīna
Say, [O Muḥammad], "Travel through the land and observe how was the end of those before. Most of them were associators [of others with Allāh].
فَأَقِمْ So set fa-aqim your face wajhaka to the religion lilddīni right l-qayimi before min before qabli [that] an comes yatiya a Day yawmun not lā (can be) averted maradda [it] lahu from mina Allah l-lahi That Day yawma-idhin they will be divided yaṣṣaddaʿūna
So direct your face [i.e., self] toward the correct religion before a Day comes from Allāh of which there is no repelling. That Day, they will be divided.1
مَن Whoever man disbelieves kafara then against him faʿalayhi (is) his disbelief kuf'ruhu And whoever waman does ʿamila righteousness ṣāliḥan then for themselves fali-anfusihim they are preparing yamhadūna
Whoever disbelieves - upon him is [the consequence of] his disbelief. And whoever does righteousness - they are for themselves preparing,
لِيَجْزِىَ That He may reward liyajziya those who alladhīna believe āmanū and do waʿamilū righteous deeds l-ṣāliḥāti (out) of min His Bounty faḍlihi Indeed, He innahu (does) not lā like yuḥibbu the disbelievers l-kāfirīna
That He may reward those who have believed and done righteous deeds out of His bounty. Indeed, He does not like the disbelievers.
وَمِنْ And among wamin His Signs āyātihi (is) that an He sends yur'sila the winds l-riyāḥa (as) bearers of glad tidings mubashirātin and to let you taste waliyudhīqakum of min His Mercy raḥmatihi and that may sail walitajriya the ships l-ful'ku at His Command bi-amrihi and that you may seek walitabtaghū of min His Bounty faḍlihi and that you may walaʿallakum be grateful tashkurūna
And of His signs is that He sends the winds as bringers of good tidings and to let you taste His mercy [i.e., rain] and so the ships may sail at His command and so you may seek of His bounty, and perhaps you will be grateful.
وَلَقَدْ And verily walaqad We sent arsalnā before you min before you qablika Messengers rusulan to ilā their people qawmihim and they came to them fajāūhum with clear proofs bil-bayināti then We took retribution fa-intaqamnā from mina those who alladhīna committed crimes ajramū And it was wakāna incumbent ḥaqqan upon Us ʿalaynā (to) help naṣru the believers l-mu'minīna
And We have already sent messengers before you to their peoples, and they came to them with clear evidences; then We took retribution from those who committed crimes, and incumbent upon Us was support1 of the believers.
ٱللَّهُ Allah al-lahu (is) the One Who alladhī sends yur'silu the winds l-riyāḥa so they raise fatuthīru (the) clouds saḥāban then He spreads them fayabsuṭuhu in fī the sky l-samāi how kayfa He wills yashāu and He makes them wayajʿaluhu fragments kisafan so you see fatarā the rain l-wadqa coming forth yakhruju from min their midst khilālihi Then when fa-idhā He causes it to fall on aṣāba He causes it to fall on bihi whom man He wills yashāu of min His slaves ʿibādihi behold idhā They hum rejoice yastabshirūna
It is Allāh who sends the winds, and they stir the clouds and spread them in the sky however He wills, and He makes them fragments so you see the rain emerge from within them. And when He causes it to fall upon whom He wills of His servants, immediately they rejoice
وَإِن And certainly wa-in they were kānū before min before qabli [that] an it was sent down yunazzala upon them ʿalayhim [before it] min [before it] qablihi surely in despair lamub'lisīna
Although they were, before it was sent down upon them - before that, in despair.
فَٱنظُرْ So look fa-unẓur at ilā (the) effects āthāri (of the) Mercy raḥmati (of) Allah l-lahi how kayfa He gives life yuḥ'yī (to) the earth l-arḍa after baʿda its death mawtihā Indeed inna that dhālika surely He (will) give life lamuḥ'yī (to) the dead l-mawtā And He wahuwa (is) on ʿalā every kulli thing shayin All-Powerful qadīrun
So observe the effects of the mercy of Allāh - how He gives life to the earth after its lifelessness. Indeed, that [same one] will give life to the dead, and He is over all things competent.
