وَنُمَكِّنَ And [We] establish wanumakkina them lahum in fī the land l-arḍi and show wanuriya Firaun fir'ʿawna and Haman wahāmāna and their hosts wajunūdahumā through them min'hum what mā they were kānū fearing yaḥdharūna
And establish them in the land and show Pharaoh and [his minister] Hāmān and their soldiers through them1 that which they had feared.
وَأَوْحَيْنَآ And We inspired wa-awḥaynā [to] ilā (the) mother ummi (of) Musa mūsā that an Suckle him arḍiʿīhi but when fa-idhā you fear khif'ti for him ʿalayhi then cast him fa-alqīhi in(to) fī the river l-yami and (do) not walā fear takhāfī and (do) not walā grieve taḥzanī Indeed, We innā (will) restore him rāddūhu to you ilayki and (will) make him wajāʿilūhu of mina the Messengers l-mur'salīna
And We inspired to the mother of Moses, "Suckle him; but when you fear for him, cast him into the river and do not fear and do not grieve. Indeed, We will return him to you and will make him [one] of the messengers."
فَٱلْتَقَطَهُۥٓ Then picked him up fal-taqaṭahu (the) family ālu (of) Firaun fir'ʿawna so that he might become liyakūna to them lahum an enemy ʿaduwwan and a grief waḥazanan Indeed inna Firaun fir'ʿawna and Haman wahāmāna and their hosts wajunūdahumā were kānū sinners khāṭiīna
And the family of Pharaoh picked him up [out of the river] so that he would become to them an enemy and a [cause of] grief. Indeed, Pharaoh and Hāmān and their soldiers were deliberate sinners.
وَقَالَتِ And said waqālati (the) wife im'ra-atu (of) Firaun fir'ʿawna A comfort qurratu (of the) eye ʿaynin for me lī and for you walaka (Do) not lā kill him taqtulūhu perhaps ʿasā (that) an he may benefit us yanfaʿanā or aw we may take him nattakhidhahu (as) a son waladan And they wahum (did) not lā perceive yashʿurūna
And the wife of Pharaoh said, "[He will be] a comfort of the eye [i.e., pleasure] for me and for you. Do not kill him; perhaps he may benefit us, or we may adopt him as a son." And they perceived not.1
وَأَصْبَحَ And became wa-aṣbaḥa (the) heart fuādu (of the) mother ummi (of) Musa mūsā empty fārighan That in she was near kādat (to) disclosing latub'dī about him bihi if not lawlā that an We strengthened rabaṭnā [over] ʿalā her heart qalbihā so that she would be litakūna of mina the believers l-mu'minīna
And the heart of Moses' mother became empty [of all else]. She was about to disclose [the matter concerning] him had We not bound fast her heart that she would be of the believers.
وَقَالَتْ And she said waqālat to his sister li-ukh'tihi Follow him quṣṣīhi So she watched fabaṣurat him bihi from ʿan a distance junubin while they wahum (did) not lā perceive yashʿurūna
And she said to his sister, "Follow him"; so she watched him from a distance while they perceived not.
۞ وَحَرَّمْنَا And We had forbidden waḥarramnā for him ʿalayhi the wet nurses l-marāḍiʿa before min before qablu so she said faqālat Shall I hal direct you adullukum to ʿalā (the) people ahli (of) a house baytin who will rear him yakfulūnahu for you lakum while they wahum to him lahu (will be) sincere nāṣiḥūna
And We had prevented from him [all] wet nurses before,1 so she said, "Shall I direct you to a household that will be responsible for him for you while they are to him [for his upbringing] sincere?"
فَرَدَدْنَـٰهُ So We restored him faradadnāhu to ilā his mother ummihi that kay might be comforted taqarra her eye ʿaynuhā and not walā she may grieve taḥzana and that she would know walitaʿlama that anna the Promise of Allah waʿda the Promise of Allah l-lahi (is) true ḥaqqun But walākinna most of them aktharahum (do) not lā know yaʿlamūna
So We restored him to his mother that she might be content and not grieve and that she would know that the promise of Allāh is true. But most of them [i.e., the people] do not know.
