فَلَا So (do) not falā be taku in fī doubt mir'yatin as to what mimmā worship yaʿbudu these (polytheists) hāulāi Not mā they worship yaʿbudūna except illā as what kamā worshipped yaʿbudu their forefathers ābāuhum before min before qablu And indeed, We wa-innā will surely pay them in full lamuwaffūhum their share naṣībahum without ghayra being diminished manqūṣin
So do not be in doubt, [O Muḥammad], as to what these [polytheists] are worshipping. They worship not except as their fathers worshipped before. And indeed, We will give them their share undiminished.
وَلَقَدْ And verily walaqad We gave ātaynā Musa mūsā the Book l-kitāba but differences arose fa-ukh'tulifa therein fīhi And if not walawlā (for) a Word kalimatun (that) preceded sabaqat from min your Lord rabbika surely would have been judged laquḍiya between them baynahum And indeed, they wa-innahum surely (are) in lafī doubt shakkin concerning it min'hu suspicious murībin
And We had certainly given Moses the Scripture, but it came under disagreement. And if not for a word1 that preceded from your Lord, it would have been judged between them. And indeed they are, concerning it [i.e., the Qur’ān], in disquieting doubt.
وَإِنَّ And indeed wa-inna to each [when] kullan to each [when] lammā surely will pay them in full layuwaffiyannahum your Lord rabbuka their deeds aʿmālahum Indeed, He innahu of what bimā they do yaʿmalūna (is) All-Aware khabīrun
And indeed, each [of the believers and disbelievers] - your Lord will fully compensate them for their deeds. Indeed, He is Aware of what they do.
فَٱسْتَقِمْ So stand firm fa-is'taqim as kamā you are commanded umir'ta and (those) who waman turn (in repentance) tāba with you maʿaka and (do) not walā transgress taṭghaw Indeed, He innahu of what bimā you do taʿmalūna (is) All-Seer baṣīrun
So remain on a right course as you have been commanded, [you] and those who have turned back with you [to Allāh], and do not transgress. Indeed, He is Seeing of what you do.
وَلَا And (do) not walā incline tarkanū to ilā those who alladhīna do wrong ẓalamū lest touches you fatamassakumu the Fire l-nāru and not wamā (is) for you lakum besides Allah min besides Allah dūni besides Allah l-lahi any min protectors awliyāa then thumma not lā you will be helped tunṣarūna
And do not incline toward those who do wrong, lest you be touched by the Fire, and you would not have other than Allāh any protectors; then you would not be helped.
وَأَقِمِ And establish wa-aqimi the prayer l-ṣalata (at the) two ends ṭarafayi (of) the day l-nahāri and (at) the approach wazulafan of mina the night al-layli Indeed inna the good deeds l-ḥasanāti remove yudh'hib'na the evil deeds l-sayiāti That dhālika (is) a reminder dhik'rā for those who remember lildhākirīna
And establish prayer at the two ends of the day and at the approach of the night. Indeed, good deeds do away with misdeeds. That is a reminder for those who remember.
وَٱصْبِرْ And be patient wa-iṣ'bir for indeed fa-inna Allah l-laha (does) not lā let go waste yuḍīʿu (the) reward ajra (of) the good-doers l-muḥ'sinīna
And be patient, for indeed, Allāh does not allow to be lost the reward of those who do good.
فَلَوْلَا So why not falawlā had been kāna of mina the generations l-qurūni before you min before you qablikum those possessing a remnant ulū those possessing a remnant baqiyyatin forbidding yanhawna from ʿani the corruption l-fasādi in fī the earth l-arḍi except illā a few qalīlan of those mimman We saved anjaynā among them min'hum But followed wa-ittabaʿa those who alladhīna did wrong ẓalamū what mā luxury they were given ut'rifū therein fīhi and they were wakānū criminals muj'rimīna
So why were there not1 among the generations before you those of enduring discrimination forbidding corruption on earth - except a few of those We saved from among them? But those who wronged pursued what luxury they were given therein, and they were criminals.
وَمَا And not wamā would kāna your Lord rabbuka destroy liyuh'lika the cities l-qurā unjustly biẓul'min while its people wa-ahluhā (were) reformers muṣ'liḥūna
And your Lord would not have destroyed the cities unjustly while their people were reformers.
