ٱلتَّـٰٓئِبُونَ

Those who turn in repentance

al-tāibūna

ٱلْعَـٰبِدُونَ

those who worship

l-ʿābidūna

ٱلْحَـٰمِدُونَ

those who praise

l-ḥāmidūna

ٱلسَّـٰٓئِحُونَ

those who go out

l-sāiḥūna

ٱلرَّٰكِعُونَ

those who bow down

l-rākiʿūna

ٱلسَّـٰجِدُونَ

those who prostrate

l-sājidūna

ٱلْـَٔامِرُونَ

those who enjoin

l-āmirūna

بِٱلْمَعْرُوفِ

the right

bil-maʿrūfi

وَٱلنَّاهُونَ

and those who forbid

wal-nāhūna

عَنِ

[on]

ʿani

ٱلْمُنكَرِ

the wrong

l-munkari

وَٱلْحَـٰفِظُونَ

and those who observe

wal-ḥāfiẓūna

لِحُدُودِ

(the) limits

liḥudūdi

ٱللَّهِ ۗ

(of) Allah

l-lahi

وَبَشِّرِ

And give glad tidings

wabashiri

ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ

(to) the believers

l-mu'minīna

١١٢

[Such believers are] the repentant, the worshippers, the praisers [of Allāh], the travelers [for His cause], those who bow and prostrate [in prayer], those who enjoin what is right and forbid what is wrong, and those who observe the limits [set by] Allāh. And give good tidings to the believers.

— Saheeh International

لِلنَّبِىِّ

for the Prophet

lilnnabiyyi

وَٱلَّذِينَ

and those who

wa-alladhīna

ءَامَنُوٓا۟

believe

āmanū

أَن

that

an

يَسْتَغْفِرُوا۟

they ask forgiveness

yastaghfirū

لِلْمُشْرِكِينَ

for the polytheists

lil'mush'rikīna

وَلَوْ

even though

walaw

كَانُوٓا۟

they be

kānū

أُو۟لِى

near of kin

ulī

قُرْبَىٰ

near of kin

qur'bā

مِنۢ

after

min

بَعْدِ

after

baʿdi

مَا

[what]

تَبَيَّنَ

has become clear

tabayyana

لَهُمْ

to them

lahum

أَنَّهُمْ

that they

annahum

أَصْحَـٰبُ

(are the) companions

aṣḥābu

ٱلْجَحِيمِ

(of) the Hellfire

l-jaḥīmi

١١٣

It is not for the Prophet and those who have believed to ask forgiveness for the polytheists, even if they were relatives, after it has become clear to them that they are companions of Hellfire.

— Saheeh International

وَمَا

And not

wamā

كَانَ

was

kāna

ٱسْتِغْفَارُ

(the) asking of forgiveness

is'tigh'fāru

إِبْرَٰهِيمَ

(by) Ibrahim

ib'rāhīma

لِأَبِيهِ

for his father

li-abīhi

إِلَّا

except

illā

عَن

because

ʿan

مَّوْعِدَةٍۢ

(of) a promise

mawʿidatin

وَعَدَهَآ

he had promised it

waʿadahā

إِيَّاهُ

(to) him

iyyāhu

فَلَمَّا

But when

falammā

تَبَيَّنَ

it became clear

tabayyana

لَهُۥٓ

to him

lahu

أَنَّهُۥ

that he

annahu

عَدُوٌّۭ

(was) an enemy

ʿaduwwun

لِّلَّهِ

to Allah

lillahi

تَبَرَّأَ

he disassociated

tabarra-a

مِنْهُ ۚ

from him

min'hu

إِنَّ

Indeed

inna

إِبْرَٰهِيمَ

Ibrahim

ib'rāhīma

لَأَوَّٰهٌ

(was) compassionate

la-awwāhun

حَلِيمٌۭ

forbearing

ḥalīmun

١١٤

And the request of forgiveness of Abraham for his father was only because of a promise he had made to him. But when it became apparent to him [i.e., Abraham] that he [i.e., the father] was an enemy to Allāh, he disassociated himself from him. Indeed was Abraham compassionate and patient.

— Saheeh International

وَمَا

And not

wamā

كَانَ

is

kāna

ٱللَّهُ

(for) Allah

l-lahu

لِيُضِلَّ

that He lets go astray

liyuḍilla

قَوْمًۢا

a people

qawman

بَعْدَ

after

baʿda

إِذْ

[when]

idh

هَدَىٰهُمْ

He has guided them

hadāhum

حَتَّىٰ

until

ḥattā

يُبَيِّنَ

He makes clear

yubayyina

لَهُم

to them

lahum

مَّا

what

يَتَّقُونَ ۚ

they should fear

yattaqūna

إِنَّ

Indeed

inna

ٱللَّهَ

Allah

l-laha

بِكُلِّ

(of) every

bikulli

شَىْءٍ

thing

shayin

عَلِيمٌ

(is) All-Knower

ʿalīmun

١١٥

And Allāh would not let a people stray after He has guided them until He makes clear to them what they should avoid. Indeed, Allāh is Knowing of all things.

— Saheeh International

إِنَّ

Indeed

inna

ٱللَّهَ

Allah

l-laha

لَهُۥ

to Him (belongs)

lahu

مُلْكُ

the dominion

mul'ku

ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ

(of) the heavens

l-samāwāti

وَٱلْأَرْضِ ۖ

and the earth

wal-arḍi

يُحْىِۦ

He gives life

yuḥ'yī

وَيُمِيتُ ۚ

and He causes death

wayumītu

وَمَا

And not

wamā

لَكُم

for you

lakum

مِّن

besides Allah

min

دُونِ

besides Allah

dūni

ٱللَّهِ

besides Allah

l-lahi

مِن

any

min

وَلِىٍّۢ

protector

waliyyin

وَلَا

and not

walā

نَصِيرٍۢ

any helper

naṣīrin

١١٦

Indeed, to Allāh belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth; He gives life and causes death. And you have not besides Allāh any protector or any helper.

— Saheeh International

لَّقَد

Verily

laqad

تَّابَ

Allah turned (in mercy)

tāba

ٱللَّهُ

Allah turned (in mercy)

l-lahu

عَلَى

to

ʿalā

ٱلنَّبِىِّ

the Prophet

l-nabiyi

وَٱلْمُهَـٰجِرِينَ

and the emigrants

wal-muhājirīna

وَٱلْأَنصَارِ

and the helpers

wal-anṣāri

ٱلَّذِينَ

[those] who

alladhīna

ٱتَّبَعُوهُ

followed him

ittabaʿūhu

فِى

in

سَاعَةِ

(the) hour

sāʿati

ٱلْعُسْرَةِ

(of) difficulty

l-ʿus'rati

مِنۢ

after

min

بَعْدِ

after

baʿdi

مَا

[what]

كَادَ

had nearly

kāda

يَزِيغُ

deviated

yazīghu

قُلُوبُ

(the) hearts

qulūbu

فَرِيقٍۢ

(of) a party

farīqin

مِّنْهُمْ

of them

min'hum

ثُمَّ

then

thumma

تَابَ

He turned (in mercy)

tāba

عَلَيْهِمْ ۚ

to them

ʿalayhim

إِنَّهُۥ

Indeed, He

innahu

بِهِمْ

to them

bihim

رَءُوفٌۭ

(is) Most Kind

raūfun

رَّحِيمٌۭ

Most Merciful

raḥīmun

١١٧

Allāh has already forgiven the Prophet and the Muhājireen and the Anṣār who followed him in the hour of difficulty after the hearts of a party of them had almost inclined [to doubt], and then He forgave them. Indeed, He was to them Kind and Merciful.

— Saheeh International
