قُلْ

Say

qul

إِن

If

in

كَانَتْ

is

kānat

لَكُمُ

for you

lakumu

ٱلدَّارُ

the home

l-dāru

ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةُ

(of) the Hereafter

l-ākhiratu

عِندَ

with

ʿinda

ٱللَّهِ

Allah

l-lahi

خَالِصَةًۭ

exclusively

khāliṣatan

مِّن

from

min

دُونِ

excluding

dūni

ٱلنَّاسِ

the mankind

l-nāsi

فَتَمَنَّوُا۟

then wish

fatamannawū

ٱلْمَوْتَ

(for) [the] death

l-mawta

إِن

if

in

كُنتُمْ

you are

kuntum

صَـٰدِقِينَ

truthful

ṣādiqīna

٩٤

Say, [O Muḥammad], "If the home of the Hereafter with Allāh is for you alone and not the [other] people, then wish for death, if you should be truthful."

— Saheeh International

وَلَن

And never (will)

walan

يَتَمَنَّوْهُ

they wish for it

yatamannawhu

أَبَدًۢا

ever

abadan

بِمَا

because

bimā

قَدَّمَتْ

(of what) sent ahead

qaddamat

أَيْدِيهِمْ ۗ

their hands

aydīhim

وَٱللَّهُ

And Allah

wal-lahu

عَلِيمٌۢ

(is) All-Knower

ʿalīmun

بِٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ

of the wrongdoers

bil-ẓālimīna

٩٥

But never will they wish for it, ever, because of what their hands have put forth. And Allāh is Knowing of the wrongdoers.

— Saheeh International

وَلَتَجِدَنَّهُمْ

And surely you will find them

walatajidannahum

أَحْرَصَ

(the) most greedy

aḥraṣa

ٱلنَّاسِ

(of) [the] mankind

l-nāsi

عَلَىٰ

for

ʿalā

حَيَوٰةٍۢ

life

ḥayatin

وَمِنَ

and (greedier) than

wamina

ٱلَّذِينَ

those who

alladhīna

أَشْرَكُوا۟ ۚ

associate[d] partners (with Allah)

ashrakū

يَوَدُّ

Loves

yawaddu

أَحَدُهُمْ

(each) one of them

aḥaduhum

لَوْ

if

law

يُعَمَّرُ

he could be granted a life

yuʿammaru

أَلْفَ

(of) a thousand

alfa

سَنَةٍۢ

year(s)

sanatin

وَمَا

But not

wamā

هُوَ

it

huwa

بِمُزَحْزِحِهِۦ

(will) remove him

bimuzaḥziḥihi

مِنَ

from

mina

ٱلْعَذَابِ

the punishment

l-ʿadhābi

أَن

that

an

يُعَمَّرَ ۗ

he should be granted life

yuʿammara

وَٱللَّهُ

And Allah

wal-lahu

بَصِيرٌۢ

(is) All-Seer

baṣīrun

بِمَا

of what

bimā

يَعْمَلُونَ

they do

yaʿmalūna

٩٦

And you will surely find them the most greedy of people for life - [even] more than those who associate others with Allāh. One of them wishes that he could be granted life a thousand years, but it would not remove him in the least from the [coming] punishment that he should be granted life. And Allāh is Seeing of what they do.

— Saheeh International

Say

qul

مَن

Whoever

man

كَانَ

is

kāna

عَدُوًّۭا

an enemy

ʿaduwwan

لِّجِبْرِيلَ

to Jibreel

lijib'rīla

فَإِنَّهُۥ

then indeed he

fa-innahu

نَزَّلَهُۥ

brought it down

nazzalahu

عَلَىٰ

on

ʿalā

قَلْبِكَ

your heart

qalbika

بِإِذْنِ

by (the) permission

bi-idh'ni

ٱللَّهِ

(of) Allah

l-lahi

مُصَدِّقًۭا

confirming

muṣaddiqan

لِّمَا

what

limā

بَيْنَ

(was)

bayna

يَدَيْهِ

before it

yadayhi

وَهُدًۭى

and a guidance

wahudan

وَبُشْرَىٰ

and glad tiding(s)

wabush'rā

لِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ

for the believers

lil'mu'minīna

٩٧

Say, "Whoever is an enemy to Gabriel - it is [none but] he who has brought it [i.e., the Qur’ān] down upon your heart, [O Muḥammad], by permission of Allāh, confirming that which was before it and as guidance and good tidings for the believers."

— Saheeh International

مَن

Whoever

man

كَانَ

is

kāna

عَدُوًّۭا

an enemy

ʿaduwwan

لِّلَّهِ

(to) Allah

lillahi

وَمَلَـٰٓئِكَتِهِۦ

and His Angels

wamalāikatihi

وَرُسُلِهِۦ

and His Messengers

warusulihi

وَجِبْرِيلَ

and Jibreel

wajib'rīla

وَمِيكَىٰلَ

and Meekael

wamīkāla

فَإِنَّ

then indeed

fa-inna

ٱللَّهَ

Allah

l-laha

عَدُوٌّۭ

(is) an enemy

ʿaduwwun

لِّلْكَـٰفِرِينَ

to the disbelievers

lil'kāfirīna

٩٨

Whoever is an enemy to Allāh and His angels and His messengers and Gabriel and Michael - then indeed, Allāh is an enemy to the disbelievers.

— Saheeh International

وَلَقَدْ

And indeed

walaqad

أَنزَلْنَآ

We revealed

anzalnā

إِلَيْكَ

to you

ilayka

ءَايَـٰتٍۭ

Verses

āyātin

بَيِّنَـٰتٍۢ ۖ

clear

bayyinātin

وَمَا

and not

wamā

يَكْفُرُ

disbelieves

yakfuru

بِهَآ

in them

bihā

إِلَّا

except

illā

ٱلْفَـٰسِقُونَ

the defiantly disobedient

l-fāsiqūna

٩٩

And We have certainly revealed to you verses [which are] clear proofs, and no one would deny them except the defiantly disobedient.

— Saheeh International

أَوَكُلَّمَا

And is (it not that) whenever

awakullamā

عَـٰهَدُوا۟

they took

ʿāhadū

عَهْدًۭا

a covenant

ʿahdan

نَّبَذَهُۥ

threw it away

nabadhahu

فَرِيقٌۭ

a party

farīqun

مِّنْهُم ۚ

of them

min'hum

بَلْ

Nay

bal

أَكْثَرُهُمْ

most of them

aktharuhum

لَا

(do) not

يُؤْمِنُونَ

believe

yu'minūna

١٠٠

Is it not [true] that every time they took a covenant a party of them threw it away? But, [in fact], most of them do not believe.

— Saheeh International

وَلَمَّا

And when

walammā

جَآءَهُمْ

came to them

jāahum

رَسُولٌۭ

a Messenger

rasūlun

مِّنْ

(of)

min

عِندِ

from

ʿindi

ٱللَّهِ

Allah

l-lahi

مُصَدِّقٌۭ

confirming

muṣaddiqun

لِّمَا

what

limā

مَعَهُمْ

(was) with them

maʿahum

نَبَذَ

threw away

nabadha

فَرِيقٌۭ

a party

farīqun

مِّنَ

of

mina

ٱلَّذِينَ

those who

alladhīna

أُوتُوا۟

were given

ūtū

ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ

the Book

l-kitāba

كِتَـٰبَ

(the) Book

kitāba

ٱللَّهِ

(of) Allah

l-lahi

وَرَآءَ

behind

warāa

ظُهُورِهِمْ

their backs

ẓuhūrihim

كَأَنَّهُمْ

as if they

ka-annahum

لَا

(do) not

يَعْلَمُونَ

know

yaʿlamūna

١٠١

And when a messenger from Allāh came to them confirming that which was with them, a party of those who had been given the Scripture threw the Scripture of Allāh [i.e., the Torah] behind their backs as if they did not know [what it contained].

— Saheeh International
