۞ يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا O you yāayyuhā who alladhīna believe āmanū (Do) not lā take tattakhidhū the Jews l-yahūda and the Christians wal-naṣārā (as) allies awliyāa Some of them baʿḍuhum (are) allies awliyāu (to) others baʿḍin And whoever waman takes them as allies yatawallahum among you minkum then indeed, he fa-innahu (is) of them min'hum Indeed inna Allah l-laha (does) not lā guide yahdī the people l-qawma the wrongdoing l-ẓālimīna
O you who have believed, do not take the Jews and the Christians as allies. They are [in fact] allies of one another. And whoever is an ally to them among you - then indeed, he is [one] of them. Indeed, Allāh guides not the wrongdoing people.
فَتَرَى And you see fatarā those alladhīna in fī their hearts qulūbihim (is) a disease maraḍun they hasten yusāriʿūna to them fīhim saying yaqūlūna We fear nakhshā that an (may) strike us tuṣībanā a misfortune dāiratun But perhaps faʿasā Allah l-lahu [that] an will bring yatiya the victory bil-fatḥi or aw a decision amrin from min (of) Him ʿindihi Then they will become fayuṣ'biḥū for ʿalā what mā they had concealed asarrū within fī themselves anfusihim regretful nādimīna
So you see those in whose hearts is disease [i.e., hypocrisy] hastening into [association with] them, saying, "We are afraid a misfortune may strike us." But perhaps Allāh will bring conquest or a decision from Him, and they will become, over what they have been concealing within themselves, regretful.
وَيَقُولُ And will say wayaqūlu those who alladhīna believe āmanū Are these ahāulāi those who alladhīna swore aqsamū by Allah bil-lahi strongest jahda (of) their oaths aymānihim indeed, they innahum (were) with you lamaʿakum Became worthless ḥabiṭat their deeds aʿmāluhum and they became fa-aṣbaḥū (the) losers khāsirīna
And those who believe will say,1 "Are these the ones who swore by Allāh their strongest oaths that indeed they were with you?" Their deeds have become worthless, and they have become losers.
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا O you yāayyuhā who alladhīna believe āmanū Whoever man turns back yartadda among you minkum from ʿan his religion dīnihi then soon fasawfa (will be) brought yatī (by) Allah l-lahu a people biqawmin whom He loves yuḥibbuhum and they love Him wayuḥibbūnahu humble adhillatin towards ʿalā the believers l-mu'minīna (and) stern aʿizzatin towards ʿalā the disbelievers l-kāfirīna striving yujāhidūna in fī (the) way sabīli (of) Allah l-lahi and not walā fearing yakhāfūna the blame lawmata (of) a critic lāimin That dhālika (is the) Grace faḍlu (of) Allah l-lahi He grants yu'tīhi whom man He wills yashāu And Allah wal-lahu (is) All-Encompassing wāsiʿun All-Knowing ʿalīmun
O you who have believed, whoever of you should revert from his religion - Allāh will bring forth [in place of them] a people He will love and who will love Him [who are] humble toward the believers, strong against the disbelievers; they strive in the cause of Allāh and do not fear the blame of a critic. That is the favor of Allāh; He bestows it upon whom He wills. And Allāh is all-Encompassing and Knowing.
إِنَّمَا Only innamā your ally waliyyukumu (is) Allah l-lahu and His Messenger warasūluhu and those who wa-alladhīna believe āmanū and those who alladhīna establish yuqīmūna the prayer l-ṣalata and give wayu'tūna zakah l-zakata and they wahum (are) those who bow down rākiʿūna
Your ally is none but Allāh and [therefore] His Messenger and those who have believed - those who establish prayer and give zakāh, and they bow [in worship].
وَمَن And whoever waman takes as an ally yatawalla Allah l-laha and His Messenger warasūlahu and those who wa-alladhīna believe āmanū then indeed fa-inna (the) party ḥiz'ba (of) Allah l-lahi they humu (are) the victorious l-ghālibūna
And whoever is an ally of Allāh and His Messenger and those who have believed - indeed, the party of Allāh - they will be the predominant.
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا O you yāayyuhā who alladhīna believe āmanū (Do) not lā take tattakhidhū those who alladhīna take ittakhadhū your religion dīnakum (in) ridicule huzuwan and fun walaʿiban from mina those who alladhīna are given ūtū the Book l-kitāba from min before you qablikum and the disbelievers wal-kufāra (as) allies awliyāa And fear wa-ittaqū Allah l-laha if in you are kuntum believers mu'minīna
O you who have believed, take not those who have taken your religion in ridicule and amusement among the ones who were given the Scripture before you nor the disbelievers as allies. And fear Allāh, if you should [truly] be believers.
