قُتِلَ Is destroyed qutila [the] man l-insānu how mā ungrateful is he akfarahu
Destroyed [i.e., cursed] is man; how disbelieving is he.
مِنْ From min what ayyi thing shayin He created him khalaqahu
From what thing [i.e., substance] did He create him?
مِن From min a semen-drop nuṭ'fatin He created him khalaqahu then He proportioned him faqaddarahu
From a sperm-drop He created him and destined for him;
ثُمَّ Then thumma the way l-sabīla He made easy for him yassarahu
Then He eased the way for him;
ثُمَّ Then thumma He causes him to die amātahu and provides a grave for him fa-aqbarahu
Then He causes his death and provides a grave for him.
ثُمَّ Then thumma when idhā He wills shāa He will resurrect him ansharahu
Then when He wills, He will resurrect him.
كَلَّا Nay kallā Not lammā he has accomplished yaqḍi what mā He commanded him amarahu
No! He [i.e., man] has not yet accomplished what He commanded him.
فَلْيَنظُرِ Then let look falyanẓuri the man l-insānu at ilā his food ṭaʿāmihi
Then let mankind look at his food -
اَنَّا That [We] annā [We] poured ṣababnā the water l-māa (in) abundance ṣabban
How We poured down water in torrents,
ثُمَّ Then thumma We cleaved shaqaqnā the earth l-arḍa splitting shaqqan
Then We broke open the earth, splitting [it with sprouts],
فَأَنۢبَتْنَا Then We caused to grow fa-anbatnā therein fīhā grain ḥabban
And caused to grow within it grain
وَعِنَبًۭا And grapes waʿinaban and green fodder waqaḍban
And grapes and herbage
وَزَيْتُونًۭا And olive wazaytūnan and date-palms wanakhlan
And olive and palm trees
وَحَدَآئِقَ And gardens waḥadāiqa (of) thick foliage ghul'ban
And gardens of dense shrubbery
مَّتَـٰعًۭا (As) a provision matāʿan for you lakum and for your cattle wali-anʿāmikum
[As] enjoyment [i.e., provision] for you and your grazing livestock.
