وَلَا And (do) not walā be takūnū like those who ka-alladhīna came forth kharajū from min their homes diyārihim boastfully baṭaran and showing off wariāa (to) the people l-nāsi and hinder (them) wayaṣuddūna from ʿan (the) way sabīli (of) Allah l-lahi And Allah wal-lahu of what bimā they do yaʿmalūna (is) All-Encompassing muḥīṭun
And do not be like those who came forth from their homes insolently and to be seen by people and avert [them] from the way of Allāh. And Allāh is encompassing of what they do.
وَإِذْ And when wa-idh made fair-seeming zayyana to them lahumu the Shaitaan l-shayṭānu their deeds aʿmālahum and he said waqāla No (one) lā (can) overcome ghāliba [to] you lakumu today l-yawma from mina the people l-nāsi and indeed, I am wa-innī a neighbor jārun for you lakum But when falammā came in sight tarāati the two forces l-fi-atāni he turned away nakaṣa on ʿalā his heels ʿaqibayhi and said waqāla Indeed, I am innī free barīon of you minkum Indeed, I innī see arā what mā not lā you see tarawna indeed, I innī [I] fear akhāfu Allah l-laha And Allah wal-lahu (is) severe shadīdu (in) the penalty l-ʿiqābi
And [remember] when Satan made their deeds pleasing to them and said, "No one can overcome you today from among the people, and indeed, I am your protector." But when the two armies sighted each other, he turned on his heels and said, "Indeed, I am disassociated from you. Indeed, I see what you do not see; indeed, I fear Allāh. And Allāh is severe in penalty."
إِذْ When idh said yaqūlu the hypocrites l-munāfiqūna and those who wa-alladhīna in fī their hearts qulūbihim (was) a disease maraḍun (Had) deluded gharra these (people) hāulāi their religion dīnuhum But whoever waman puts (his) trust yatawakkal in ʿalā Allah l-lahi then indeed fa-inna Allah l-laha (is) All-Mighty ʿazīzun All-Wise ḥakīmun
[Remember] when the hypocrites and those in whose hearts was disease [i.e., arrogance and disbelief] said, "Their religion has deluded those [Muslims]." But whoever relies upon Allāh - then indeed, Allāh is Exalted in Might and Wise.
