وَلَوْ And if walaw [that] anna people ahla (of) the cities l-qurā (had) believed āmanū and feared Allah wa-ittaqaw surely We (would have) opened lafataḥnā upon them ʿalayhim blessings barakātin from mina the heaven l-samāi and the earth wal-arḍi but walākin they denied kadhabū So We seized them fa-akhadhnāhum for what bimā they used to kānū earn yaksibūna
And if only the people of the cities had believed and feared Allāh, We would have opened [i.e., bestowed] upon them blessings from the heaven and the earth; but they denied [the messengers], so We seized them for what they were earning.1
