The Divorce

الطلاق
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا O yāayyuhā Prophet l-nabiyu When idhā you divorce ṭallaqtumu [the] women l-nisāa then divorce them faṭalliqūhunna for their waiting period liʿiddatihinna and keep count wa-aḥṣū (of) the waiting period l-ʿidata and fear wa-ittaqū Allah l-laha your Lord rabbakum (Do) not lā expel them tukh'rijūhunna from min their houses buyūtihinna and not walā they should leave yakhruj'na except illā that an they commit yatīna an immorality bifāḥishatin clear mubayyinatin And these watil'ka (are the) limits ḥudūdu (of) Allah l-lahi And whoever waman transgresses yataʿadda (the) limits ḥudūda (of) Allah l-lahi then certainly faqad he has wronged ẓalama himself nafsahu Not lā you know tadrī Perhaps laʿalla Allah l-laha will bring about yuḥ'dithu after baʿda that dhālika a matter amran
O Prophet, when you [Muslims] divorce women, divorce them for [the commencement of] their waiting period and keep count of the waiting period,1 and fear Allāh, your Lord. Do not turn them out of their [husbands'] houses, nor should they [themselves] leave [during that period] unless they are committing a clear immorality. And those are the limits [set by] Allāh. And whoever transgresses the limits of Allāh has certainly wronged himself. You know not; perhaps Allāh will bring about after that a [different] matter.2
