يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا O yāayyuhā you (who) alladhīna believe āmanū (Let) not lā divert you tul'hikum your wealth amwālukum and not walā your children awlādukum from ʿan (the) remembrance dhik'ri (of) Allah l-lahi And whoever waman does yafʿal that dhālika then those fa-ulāika [they] humu (are) the losers l-khāsirūna
O you who have believed, let not your wealth and your children divert you from the remembrance of Allāh. And whoever does that - then those are the losers.
وَأَنفِقُوا۟ And spend wa-anfiqū from min what mā We have provided you razaqnākum from min before qabli [that] an comes yatiya (to) one of you aḥadakumu the death l-mawtu and he says fayaqūla My Lord rabbi Why not lawlā You delay me akhartanī for ilā a term ajalin near qarībin so I would give charity fa-aṣṣaddaqa and be wa-akun among mina the righteous l-ṣāliḥīna
And spend [in the way of Allāh] from what We have provided you before death approaches one of you and he says, "My Lord, if only You would delay me for a brief term so I would give charity and be of the righteous."
وَلَن But never walan will (be) delayed yu-akhira (by) Allah l-lahu a soul nafsan when idhā has come jāa its term ajaluhā And Allah wal-lahu (is) All-Aware khabīrun of what bimā you do taʿmalūna
But never will Allāh delay a soul when its time has come. And Allāh is Aware of what you do.
