وَأَنزَلْنَآ And We revealed wa-anzalnā to you ilayka the Book l-kitāba in [the] truth bil-ḥaqi confirming muṣaddiqan what limā (was) before bayna his hands yadayhi of mina the Book l-kitābi and a guardian wamuhayminan over it ʿalayhi So judge fa-uḥ'kum between them baynahum by what bimā has revealed anzala Allah l-lahu and (do) not walā follow tattabiʿ their vain desires ahwāahum when ʿammā has come to you jāaka of mina the truth l-ḥaqi For each likullin We have made jaʿalnā for you minkum a law shir'ʿatan and a clear way wamin'hājan And if walaw (had) willed shāa Allah l-lahu He (would have) made you lajaʿalakum a community ummatan one wāḥidatan [and] but walākin to test you liyabluwakum in fī what mā He (has) given you ātākum so race fa-is'tabiqū (to) the good l-khayrāti To ilā Allah l-lahi you will return marjiʿukum all jamīʿan then He will inform you fayunabbi-ukum of what bimā you were kuntum concerning it fīhi differing takhtalifūna
And We have revealed to you, [O Muḥammad], the Book [i.e., the Qur’ān] in truth, confirming that which preceded it of the Scripture and as a criterion over it. So judge between them by what Allāh has revealed and do not follow their inclinations away from what has come to you of the truth. To each of you We prescribed a law and a method.1 Had Allāh willed, He would have made you one nation [united in religion], but [He intended] to test you in what He has given you; so race to [all that is] good.2 To Allāh is your return all together, and He will [then] inform you concerning that over which you used to differ.
