فَبِمَا So for fabimā their breaking naqḍihim (of) their covenant mīthāqahum We cursed them laʿannāhum and We made wajaʿalnā their hearts qulūbahum hard qāsiyatan They distort yuḥarrifūna the words l-kalima from ʿan their places mawāḍiʿihi and forgot wanasū a part ḥaẓẓan of what mimmā they were reminded dhukkirū of [it] bihi And not walā will you cease tazālu to discover taṭṭaliʿu of ʿalā treachery khāinatin from them min'hum except illā a few qalīlan of them min'hum But forgive fa-uʿ'fu them ʿanhum and overlook wa-iṣ'faḥ Indeed inna Allah l-laha loves yuḥibbu the good-doers l-muḥ'sinīna
So for their breaking of the covenant We cursed them and made their hearts hardened. They distort words from their [proper] places [i.e., usages] and have forgotten a portion of that of which they were reminded.1 And you will still observe deceit among them, except a few of them. But pardon them and overlook [their misdeeds]. Indeed, Allāh loves the doers of good.
