يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا O you yāayyuhā who alladhīna believe āmanū (Do) not lā ask tasalū about ʿan things ashyāa if in made clear tub'da to you lakum it may distress you tasu'kum and if wa-in you ask tasalū about it ʿanhā when ḥīna is being revealed yunazzalu the Quran l-qur'ānu it would be made clear tub'da to you lakum has (been) pardoned ʿafā (by) Allah l-lahu [about] it ʿanhā and Allah wal-lahu (is) Oft-Forgiving ghafūrun All-Forbearing ḥalīmun
O you who have believed, do not ask about things which, if they are shown to you, will distress you. But if you ask about them while the Qur’ān is being revealed, they will be shown to you. Allāh has pardoned it [i.e., that which is past]; and Allāh is Forgiving and Forbearing.
