The Pleading Woman

المجادلة

قَدْ

Indeed

qad

سَمِعَ

Allah has heard

samiʿa

ٱللَّهُ

Allah has heard

l-lahu

قَوْلَ

(the) speech

qawla

ٱلَّتِى

(of one) who

allatī

تُجَـٰدِلُكَ

disputes with you

tujādiluka

فِى

concerning

زَوْجِهَا

her husband

zawjihā

وَتَشْتَكِىٓ

and she directs her complaint

watashtakī

إِلَى

to

ilā

ٱللَّهِ

Allah

l-lahi

وَٱللَّهُ

And Allah

wal-lahu

يَسْمَعُ

hears

yasmaʿu

تَحَاوُرَكُمَآ ۚ

(the) dialogue of both of you

taḥāwurakumā

إِنَّ

Indeed

inna

ٱللَّهَ

Allah

l-laha

سَمِيعٌۢ

(is) All-Hearer

samīʿun

بَصِيرٌ

All-Seer

baṣīrun

١

Certainly has Allāh heard the speech of the one who argues [i.e., pleads] with you, [O Muḥammad], concerning her husband and directs her complaint to Allāh. And Allāh hears your dialogue; indeed, Allāh is Hearing and Seeing.

— Saheeh International

ٱلَّذِينَ

Those who

alladhīna

يُظَـٰهِرُونَ

pronounce zihar

yuẓāhirūna

مِنكُم

among you

minkum

مِّن

[from]

min

نِّسَآئِهِم

(to) their wives

nisāihim

مَّا

not

هُنَّ

they

hunna

أُمَّهَـٰتِهِمْ ۖ

(are) their mothers

ummahātihim

إِنْ

Not

in

أُمَّهَـٰتُهُمْ

(are) their mothers

ummahātuhum

إِلَّا

except

illā

ٱلَّـٰٓـِٔى

those who

allāī

وَلَدْنَهُمْ ۚ

gave them birth

waladnahum

وَإِنَّهُمْ

And indeed, they

wa-innahum

لَيَقُولُونَ

surely say

layaqūlūna

مُنكَرًۭا

an evil

munkaran

مِّنَ

[of]

mina

ٱلْقَوْلِ

[the] word

l-qawli

وَزُورًۭا ۚ

and a lie

wazūran

وَإِنَّ

But indeed

wa-inna

ٱللَّهَ

Allah

l-laha

لَعَفُوٌّ

(is) surely, Oft-Pardoning

laʿafuwwun

غَفُورٌۭ

Oft-Forgiving

ghafūrun

٢

Those who pronounce ẓihār1 among you [to separate] from their wives - they are not [consequently] their mothers. Their mothers are none but those who gave birth to them. And indeed, they are saying an objectionable statement and a falsehood. But indeed, Allāh is Pardoning and Forgiving.

— Saheeh International

وَٱلَّذِينَ

And those who

wa-alladhīna

يُظَـٰهِرُونَ

pronounce zihar

yuẓāhirūna

مِن

[from]

min

نِّسَآئِهِمْ

(to) their wives

nisāihim

ثُمَّ

then

thumma

يَعُودُونَ

go back

yaʿūdūna

لِمَا

on what

limā

قَالُوا۟

they said

qālū

فَتَحْرِيرُ

then freeing

fataḥrīru

رَقَبَةٍۢ

(of) a slave

raqabatin

مِّن

before

min

قَبْلِ

before

qabli

أَن

[that]

an

يَتَمَآسَّا ۚ

they touch each other

yatamāssā

ذَٰلِكُمْ

That

dhālikum

تُوعَظُونَ

you are admonished

tūʿaẓūna

بِهِۦ ۚ

to it

bihi

وَٱللَّهُ

And Allah

wal-lahu

بِمَا

of what

bimā

تَعْمَلُونَ

you do

taʿmalūna

خَبِيرٌۭ

(is) All-Aware

khabīrun

٣

And those who pronounce ẓihār from their wives and then [wish to] go back on what they said - then [there must be] the freeing of a slave before they touch one another. That is what you are admonished thereby; and Allāh is Aware of what you do.

— Saheeh International

فَمَن

Then whoever

faman

لَّمْ

(does) not

lam

يَجِدْ

find

yajid

فَصِيَامُ

then fasting

faṣiyāmu

شَهْرَيْنِ

(for) two months

shahrayni

مُتَتَابِعَيْنِ

consecutively

mutatābiʿayni

مِن

before

min

قَبْلِ

before

qabli

أَن

[that]

an

يَتَمَآسَّا ۖ

they both touch each other

yatamāssā

فَمَن

But (he) who

faman

لَّمْ

not

lam

يَسْتَطِعْ

is able

yastaṭiʿ

فَإِطْعَامُ

then (the) feeding

fa-iṭ'ʿāmu

سِتِّينَ

(of) sixty

sittīna

مِسْكِينًۭا ۚ

needy one(s)

mis'kīnan

ذَٰلِكَ

That

dhālika

لِتُؤْمِنُوا۟

so that you may believe

litu'minū

بِٱللَّهِ

in Allah

bil-lahi

وَرَسُولِهِۦ ۚ

and His Messenger

warasūlihi

وَتِلْكَ

and these

watil'ka

حُدُودُ

(are the) limits

ḥudūdu

ٱللَّهِ ۗ

(of) Allah

l-lahi

وَلِلْكَـٰفِرِينَ

and for the disbelievers

walil'kāfirīna

عَذَابٌ

(is) a punishment

ʿadhābun

أَلِيمٌ

painful

alīmun

٤

And he who does not find [a slave] - then a fast for two months consecutively1 before they touch one another; and he who is unable - then the feeding of sixty poor persons. That is for you to believe [completely] in Allāh and His Messenger; and those are the limits [set by] Allāh. And for the disbelievers is a painful punishment.

— Saheeh International

إِنَّ

Indeed

inna

ٱلَّذِينَ

those who

alladhīna

يُحَآدُّونَ

oppose

yuḥāddūna

ٱللَّهَ

Allah

l-laha

وَرَسُولَهُۥ

and His Messenger

warasūlahu

كُبِتُوا۟

(will) be disgraced

kubitū

كَمَا

as

kamā

كُبِتَ

were disgraced

kubita

ٱلَّذِينَ

those

alladhīna

مِن

before them

min

قَبْلِهِمْ ۚ

before them

qablihim

وَقَدْ

And certainly

waqad

أَنزَلْنَآ

We have sent down

anzalnā

ءَايَـٰتٍۭ

Verses

āyātin

بَيِّنَـٰتٍۢ ۚ

clear

bayyinātin

وَلِلْكَـٰفِرِينَ

And for the disbelievers

walil'kāfirīna

عَذَابٌۭ

(is) a punishment

ʿadhābun

مُّهِينٌۭ

humiliating

muhīnun

٥

Indeed, those who oppose Allāh and His Messenger are abased as those before them were abased. And We have certainly sent down verses of clear evidence. And for the disbelievers is a humiliating punishment

— Saheeh International

يَوْمَ

(On the) Day

yawma

يَبْعَثُهُمُ

(when) Allah will raise them

yabʿathuhumu

ٱللَّهُ

(when) Allah will raise them

l-lahu

جَمِيعًۭا

all

jamīʿan

فَيُنَبِّئُهُم

and inform them

fayunabbi-uhum

بِمَا

of what

bimā

عَمِلُوٓا۟ ۚ

they did

ʿamilū

أَحْصَىٰهُ

Allah has recorded it

aḥṣāhu

ٱللَّهُ

Allah has recorded it

l-lahu

وَنَسُوهُ ۚ

while they forgot it

wanasūhu

وَٱللَّهُ

And Allah

wal-lahu

عَلَىٰ

(is) over

ʿalā

كُلِّ

all

kulli

شَىْءٍۢ

things

shayin

شَهِيدٌ

a Witness

shahīdun

٦

On the Day when Allāh will resurrect them all and inform them of what they did. Allāh had enumerated it, while they forgot it; and Allāh is, over all things, Witness.1

— Saheeh International

أَلَمْ

Do not

alam

تَرَ

you see

tara

أَنَّ

that

anna

ٱللَّهَ

Allah

l-laha

يَعْلَمُ

knows

yaʿlamu

مَا

whatever

فِى

(is) in

ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ

the heavens

l-samāwāti

وَمَا

and whatever

wamā

فِى

(is) in

ٱلْأَرْضِ ۖ

the earth

l-arḍi

مَا

Not

يَكُونُ

there is

yakūnu

مِن

any

min

نَّجْوَىٰ

secret counsel

najwā

ثَلَـٰثَةٍ

(of) three

thalāthatin

إِلَّا

but

illā

هُوَ

He (is)

huwa

رَابِعُهُمْ

(the) fourth of them

rābiʿuhum

وَلَا

and not

walā

خَمْسَةٍ

five

khamsatin

إِلَّا

but

illā

هُوَ

He (is)

huwa

سَادِسُهُمْ

(the) sixth of them

sādisuhum

وَلَآ

and not

walā

أَدْنَىٰ

less

adnā

مِن

than

min

ذَٰلِكَ

that

dhālika

وَلَآ

and not

walā

أَكْثَرَ

more

akthara

إِلَّا

but

illā

هُوَ

He

huwa

مَعَهُمْ

(is) with them

maʿahum

أَيْنَ

wherever

ayna

مَا

wherever

كَانُوا۟ ۖ

they are

kānū

ثُمَّ

Then

thumma

يُنَبِّئُهُم

He will inform them

yunabbi-uhum

بِمَا

of what

bimā

عَمِلُوا۟

they did

ʿamilū

يَوْمَ

(on the) Day

yawma

ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ ۚ

(of) the Resurrection

l-qiyāmati

إِنَّ

Indeed

inna

ٱللَّهَ

Allah

l-laha

بِكُلِّ

of every

bikulli

شَىْءٍ

thing

shayin

عَلِيمٌ

(is) All-Knower

ʿalīmun

٧

Have you not considered that Allāh knows what is in the heavens and what is on the earth? There are not three in a private conversation but that He is the fourth of them,1 nor are there five but that He is the sixth of them - and no less than that and no more except that He is with them [in knowledge] wherever they are. Then He will inform them of what they did, on the Day of Resurrection. Indeed Allāh is, of all things, Knowing.

— Saheeh International

أَلَمْ

Do not

alam

تَرَ

you see

tara

إِلَى

[to]

ilā

ٱلَّذِينَ

those who

alladhīna

نُهُوا۟

were forbidden

nuhū

عَنِ

from

ʿani

ٱلنَّجْوَىٰ

secret counsels

l-najwā

ثُمَّ

then

thumma

يَعُودُونَ

they return

yaʿūdūna

لِمَا

to what

limā

نُهُوا۟

they were forbidden

nuhū

عَنْهُ

from [it]

ʿanhu

وَيَتَنَـٰجَوْنَ

and they hold secret counsels

wayatanājawna

بِٱلْإِثْمِ

for sin

bil-ith'mi

وَٱلْعُدْوَٰنِ

and aggression

wal-ʿud'wāni

وَمَعْصِيَتِ

and disobedience

wamaʿṣiyati

ٱلرَّسُولِ

(to) the Messenger

l-rasūli

وَإِذَا

And when

wa-idhā

جَآءُوكَ

they come to you

jāūka

حَيَّوْكَ

they greet you

ḥayyawka

بِمَا

with what

bimā

لَمْ

not

lam

يُحَيِّكَ

greets you

yuḥayyika

بِهِ

therewith

bihi

ٱللَّهُ

Allah

l-lahu

وَيَقُولُونَ

and they say

wayaqūlūna

فِىٓ

among

أَنفُسِهِمْ

themselves

anfusihim

لَوْلَا

Why (does) not

lawlā

يُعَذِّبُنَا

Allah punish us

yuʿadhibunā

ٱللَّهُ

Allah punish us

l-lahu

بِمَا

for what

bimā

نَقُولُ ۚ

we say

naqūlu

حَسْبُهُمْ

Sufficient (for) them

ḥasbuhum

جَهَنَّمُ

(is) Hell

jahannamu

يَصْلَوْنَهَا ۖ

they will burn in it

yaṣlawnahā

فَبِئْسَ

and worst is

fabi'sa

ٱلْمَصِيرُ

the destination

l-maṣīru

٨

Have you not considered those who were forbidden from private conversation [i.e., ridicule and conspiracy] and then return to that which they were forbidden and converse among themselves about sin and aggression and disobedience to the Messenger? And when they come to you, they greet you with that [word] by which Allāh does not greet you1 and say among themselves, "Why does Allāh not punish us for what we say?" Sufficient for them is Hell, which they will [enter to] burn, and wretched is the destination.

— Saheeh International

يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا

O you who believe

yāayyuhā

ٱلَّذِينَ

O you who believe

alladhīna

ءَامَنُوٓا۟

O you who believe

āmanū

إِذَا

When

idhā

تَنَـٰجَيْتُمْ

you hold secret counsel

tanājaytum

فَلَا

then (do) not

falā

تَتَنَـٰجَوْا۟

hold secret counsel

tatanājaw

بِٱلْإِثْمِ

for sin

bil-ith'mi

وَٱلْعُدْوَٰنِ

and aggression

wal-ʿud'wāni

وَمَعْصِيَتِ

and disobedience

wamaʿṣiyati

ٱلرَّسُولِ

(to) the Messenger

l-rasūli

وَتَنَـٰجَوْا۟

but hold secret counsel

watanājaw

بِٱلْبِرِّ

for righteousness

bil-biri

وَٱلتَّقْوَىٰ ۖ

and piety

wal-taqwā

وَٱتَّقُوا۟

And fear

wa-ittaqū

ٱللَّهَ

Allah

l-laha

ٱلَّذِىٓ

the One Who

alladhī

إِلَيْهِ

to Him

ilayhi

تُحْشَرُونَ

you will be gathered

tuḥ'sharūna

٩

O you who have believed, when you converse privately, do not converse about sin and aggression and disobedience to the Messenger but converse about righteousness and piety. And fear Allāh, to whom you will be gathered.

— Saheeh International

إِنَّمَا

Only

innamā

ٱلنَّجْوَىٰ

the secret counsels

l-najwā

مِنَ

(are) from

mina

ٱلشَّيْطَـٰنِ

the Shaitaan

l-shayṭāni

لِيَحْزُنَ

that he may grieve

liyaḥzuna

ٱلَّذِينَ

those who

alladhīna

ءَامَنُوا۟

believe

āmanū

وَلَيْسَ

but not

walaysa

بِضَآرِّهِمْ

he (can) harm them

biḍārrihim

شَيْـًٔا

(in) anything

shayan

إِلَّا

except

illā

بِإِذْنِ

by Allah's permission

bi-idh'ni

ٱللَّهِ ۚ

by Allah's permission

l-lahi

وَعَلَى

And upon

waʿalā

ٱللَّهِ

Allah

l-lahi

فَلْيَتَوَكَّلِ

let put (their) trust

falyatawakkali

ٱلْمُؤْمِنُونَ

the believers

l-mu'minūna

١٠

Private conversation is only from Satan that he may grieve those who have believed,1 but he will not harm them at all except by permission of Allāh. And upon Allāh let the believers rely.

— Saheeh International

يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا

O you who believe

yāayyuhā

ٱلَّذِينَ

O you who believe

alladhīna

ءَامَنُوٓا۟

O you who believe

āmanū

إِذَا

When

idhā

قِيلَ

it is said

qīla

لَكُمْ

to you

lakum

تَفَسَّحُوا۟

Make room

tafassaḥū

فِى

in

ٱلْمَجَـٰلِسِ

the assemblies

l-majālisi

فَٱفْسَحُوا۟

then make room

fa-if'saḥū

يَفْسَحِ

Allah will make room

yafsaḥi

ٱللَّهُ

Allah will make room

l-lahu

لَكُمْ ۖ

for you

lakum

وَإِذَا

And when

wa-idhā

قِيلَ

it is said

qīla

ٱنشُزُوا۟

Rise up

unshuzū

فَٱنشُزُوا۟

then rise up

fa-unshuzū

يَرْفَعِ

Allah will raise

yarfaʿi

ٱللَّهُ

Allah will raise

l-lahu

ٱلَّذِينَ

those who

alladhīna

ءَامَنُوا۟

believe

āmanū

مِنكُمْ

among you

minkum

وَٱلَّذِينَ

and those who

wa-alladhīna

أُوتُوا۟

were given

ūtū

ٱلْعِلْمَ

the knowledge

l-ʿil'ma

دَرَجَـٰتٍۢ ۚ

(in) degrees

darajātin

وَٱللَّهُ

And Allah

wal-lahu

بِمَا

of what

bimā

تَعْمَلُونَ

you do

taʿmalūna

خَبِيرٌۭ

(is) All-Aware

khabīrun

١١

O you who have believed, when you are told, "Space yourselves" in assemblies, then make space; Allāh will make space for you.1 And when you are told, "Arise,"2 then arise; Allāh will raise those who have believed among you and those who were given knowledge, by degrees. And Allāh is Aware of what you do.

— Saheeh International

يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا

O you who believe

yāayyuhā

ٱلَّذِينَ

O you who believe

alladhīna

ءَامَنُوٓا۟

O you who believe

āmanū

إِذَا

When

idhā

نَـٰجَيْتُمُ

you privately consult

nājaytumu

ٱلرَّسُولَ

the Messenger

l-rasūla

فَقَدِّمُوا۟

then offer

faqaddimū

بَيْنَ

before

bayna

يَدَىْ

before

yaday

نَجْوَىٰكُمْ

your private consultation

najwākum

صَدَقَةًۭ ۚ

charity

ṣadaqatan

ذَٰلِكَ

That

dhālika

خَيْرٌۭ

(is) better

khayrun

لَّكُمْ

for you

lakum

وَأَطْهَرُ ۚ

and purer

wa-aṭharu

فَإِن

But if

fa-in

لَّمْ

not

lam

تَجِدُوا۟

you find

tajidū

فَإِنَّ

then indeed

fa-inna

ٱللَّهَ

Allah

l-laha

غَفُورٌۭ

(is) Oft-Forgiving

ghafūrun

رَّحِيمٌ

Most Merciful

raḥīmun

١٢

O you who have believed, when you [wish to] privately consult the Messenger, present before your consultation a charity. That is better for you and purer. But if you find not [the means] - then indeed, Allāh is Forgiving and Merciful.

— Saheeh International

ءَأَشْفَقْتُمْ

Are you afraid

a-ashfaqtum

أَن

تُقَدِّمُوا۟

offer

tuqaddimū

بَيْنَ

before

bayna

يَدَىْ

before

yaday

نَجْوَىٰكُمْ

your private consultation

najwākum

صَدَقَـٰتٍۢ ۚ

charities

ṣadaqātin

فَإِذْ

Then when

fa-idh

لَمْ

you do not

lam

تَفْعَلُوا۟

you do not

tafʿalū

وَتَابَ

and Allah has forgiven

watāba

ٱللَّهُ

and Allah has forgiven

l-lahu

عَلَيْكُمْ

you

ʿalaykum

فَأَقِيمُوا۟

then establish

fa-aqīmū

ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ

the prayer

l-ṣalata

وَءَاتُوا۟

and give

waātū

ٱلزَّكَوٰةَ

the zakah

l-zakata

وَأَطِيعُوا۟

and obey

wa-aṭīʿū

ٱللَّهَ

Allah

l-laha

وَرَسُولَهُۥ ۚ

and His Messenger

warasūlahu

وَٱللَّهُ

And Allah

wal-lahu

خَبِيرٌۢ

(is) All-Aware

khabīrun

بِمَا

of what

bimā

تَعْمَلُونَ

you do

taʿmalūna

١٣

Have you feared to present before your consultation charities? Then when you do not and Allāh has forgiven you, then [at least] establish prayer and give zakāh and obey Allāh and His Messenger. And Allāh is Aware of what you do.

۞ أَلَمْ

Do not

alam

تَرَ

you see

tara

إِلَى

[to]

ilā

ٱلَّذِينَ

those who

alladhīna

تَوَلَّوْا۟

take as allies

tawallaw

قَوْمًا

a people

qawman

غَضِبَ

wrath

ghaḍiba

ٱللَّهُ

(of) Allah

l-lahu

عَلَيْهِم

(is) upon them

ʿalayhim

مَّا

They (are) not

هُم

They (are) not

hum

مِّنكُمْ

of you

minkum

وَلَا

and not

walā

مِنْهُمْ

of them

min'hum

وَيَحْلِفُونَ

and they swear

wayaḥlifūna

عَلَى

to

ʿalā

ٱلْكَذِبِ

the lie

l-kadhibi

وَهُمْ

while they

wahum

يَعْلَمُونَ

know

yaʿlamūna

١٤

Have you not considered those who make allies of a people with whom Allāh has become angry? They are neither of you nor of them, and they swear to untruth while they know [they are lying].

— Saheeh International

أَعَدَّ

Allah has prepared

aʿadda

ٱللَّهُ

Allah has prepared

l-lahu

لَهُمْ

for them

lahum

عَذَابًۭا

a punishment

ʿadhāban

شَدِيدًا ۖ

severe

shadīdan

إِنَّهُمْ

Indeed, [they]

innahum

سَآءَ

evil is

sāa

مَا

what

كَانُوا۟

they used to

kānū

يَعْمَلُونَ

do

yaʿmalūna

١٥

Allāh has prepared for them a severe punishment. Indeed, it was evil that they were doing.

— Saheeh International

ٱتَّخَذُوٓا۟

They have taken

ittakhadhū

أَيْمَـٰنَهُمْ

their oaths

aymānahum

جُنَّةًۭ

(as) a cover

junnatan

فَصَدُّوا۟

so they hinder

faṣaddū

عَن

from

ʿan

سَبِيلِ

(the) way of Allah

sabīli

ٱللَّهِ

(the) way of Allah

l-lahi

فَلَهُمْ

so for them

falahum

عَذَابٌۭ

(is) a punishment

ʿadhābun

مُّهِينٌۭ

humiliating

muhīnun

١٦

They took their [false] oaths as a cover, so they averted [people] from the way of Allāh, and for them is a humiliating punishment.

— Saheeh International

لَّن

Never

lan

تُغْنِىَ

will avail

tugh'niya

عَنْهُمْ

them

ʿanhum

أَمْوَٰلُهُمْ

their wealth

amwāluhum

وَلَآ

and not

walā

أَوْلَـٰدُهُم

their children

awlāduhum

مِّنَ

against

mina

ٱللَّهِ

Allah

l-lahi

شَيْـًٔا ۚ

(in) anything

shayan

أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ

Those

ulāika

أَصْحَـٰبُ

(will be) companions

aṣḥābu

ٱلنَّارِ ۖ

(of) the Fire

l-nāri

هُمْ

they

hum

فِيهَا

in it

fīhā

خَـٰلِدُونَ

will abide forever

khālidūna

١٧

Never will their wealth or their children avail them against Allāh at all. Those are the companions of the Fire; they will abide therein eternally

— Saheeh International

يَوْمَ

(On the) Day

yawma

يَبْعَثُهُمُ

Allah will raise them

yabʿathuhumu

ٱللَّهُ

Allah will raise them

l-lahu

جَمِيعًۭا

all

jamīʿan

فَيَحْلِفُونَ

then they will swear

fayaḥlifūna

لَهُۥ

to Him

lahu

كَمَا

as

kamā

يَحْلِفُونَ

they swear

yaḥlifūna

لَكُمْ ۖ

to you

lakum

وَيَحْسَبُونَ

And they think

wayaḥsabūna

أَنَّهُمْ

that they

annahum

عَلَىٰ

(are) on

ʿalā

شَىْءٍ ۚ

something

shayin

أَلَآ

No doubt

alā

إِنَّهُمْ

Indeed, they

innahum

هُمُ

[they]

humu

ٱلْكَـٰذِبُونَ

(are) the liars

l-kādhibūna

١٨

On the Day Allāh will resurrect them all, and they will swear to Him as they swear to you and think that they are [standing] on something.1 Unquestionably, it is they who are the liars.

— Saheeh International

ٱسْتَحْوَذَ

Has overcome

is'taḥwadha

عَلَيْهِمُ

them

ʿalayhimu

ٱلشَّيْطَـٰنُ

the Shaitaan

l-shayṭānu

فَأَنسَىٰهُمْ

so he made them forget

fa-ansāhum

ذِكْرَ

(the) remembrance

dhik'ra

ٱللَّهِ ۚ

(of) Allah

l-lahi

أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ

Those

ulāika

حِزْبُ

(are the) party

ḥiz'bu

ٱلشَّيْطَـٰنِ ۚ

(of) the Shaitaan

l-shayṭāni

أَلَآ

No doubt

alā

إِنَّ

Indeed

inna

حِزْبَ

(the) party

ḥiz'ba

ٱلشَّيْطَـٰنِ

(of) the Shaitaan

l-shayṭāni

هُمُ

they

humu

ٱلْخَـٰسِرُونَ

(will be) the losers

l-khāsirūna

١٩

Satan has overcome them and made them forget the remembrance of Allāh. Those are the party of Satan. Unquestionably, the party of Satan - they will be the losers.

— Saheeh International

إِنَّ

Indeed

inna

ٱلَّذِينَ

those who

alladhīna

يُحَآدُّونَ

oppose

yuḥāddūna

ٱللَّهَ

Allah

l-laha

وَرَسُولَهُۥٓ

and His Messenger

warasūlahu

أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ

those

ulāika

فِى

(will be) among

ٱلْأَذَلِّينَ

the most humiliated

l-adhalīna

٢٠

Indeed, the ones who oppose Allāh and His Messenger - those will be among the most humbled.

— Saheeh International

كَتَبَ

Allah has decreed

kataba

ٱللَّهُ

Allah has decreed

l-lahu

لَأَغْلِبَنَّ

Surely, I will overcome

la-aghlibanna

أَنَا۠

I

anā

وَرُسُلِىٓ ۚ

and My Messengers

warusulī

إِنَّ

Indeed

inna

ٱللَّهَ

Allah

l-laha

قَوِىٌّ

(is) All-Strong

qawiyyun

عَزِيزٌۭ

All-Mighty

ʿazīzun

٢١

Allāh has written [i.e., decreed], "I will surely overcome, I and My messengers." Indeed, Allāh is Powerful and Exalted in Might.

— Saheeh International

لَّا

You will not find

تَجِدُ

You will not find

tajidu

قَوْمًۭا

a people

qawman

يُؤْمِنُونَ

who believe

yu'minūna

بِٱللَّهِ

in Allah

bil-lahi

وَٱلْيَوْمِ

and the Day

wal-yawmi

ٱلْـَٔاخِرِ

the Last

l-ākhiri

يُوَآدُّونَ

loving

yuwāddūna

مَنْ

(those) who

man

حَآدَّ

oppose

ḥādda

ٱللَّهَ

Allah

l-laha

وَرَسُولَهُۥ

and His Messenger

warasūlahu

وَلَوْ

even if

walaw

كَانُوٓا۟

they were

kānū

ءَابَآءَهُمْ

their fathers

ābāahum

أَوْ

or

aw

أَبْنَآءَهُمْ

their sons

abnāahum

أَوْ

or

aw

إِخْوَٰنَهُمْ

their brothers

ikh'wānahum

أَوْ

or

aw

عَشِيرَتَهُمْ ۚ

their kindred

ʿashīratahum

أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ

Those

ulāika

كَتَبَ

He has decreed

kataba

فِى

within

قُلُوبِهِمُ

their hearts

qulūbihimu

ٱلْإِيمَـٰنَ

faith

l-īmāna

وَأَيَّدَهُم

and supported them

wa-ayyadahum

بِرُوحٍۢ

with a spirit

birūḥin

مِّنْهُ ۖ

from Him

min'hu

وَيُدْخِلُهُمْ

And He will admit them

wayud'khiluhum

جَنَّـٰتٍۢ

(to) Gardens

jannātin

تَجْرِى

flow

tajrī

مِن

from

min

تَحْتِهَا

underneath it

taḥtihā

ٱلْأَنْهَـٰرُ

the rivers

l-anhāru

خَـٰلِدِينَ

will abide forever

khālidīna

فِيهَا ۚ

in it

fīhā

رَضِىَ

Allah is pleased

raḍiya

ٱللَّهُ

Allah is pleased

l-lahu

عَنْهُمْ

with them

ʿanhum

وَرَضُوا۟

and they are pleased

waraḍū

عَنْهُ ۚ

with Him

ʿanhu

أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ

Those

ulāika

حِزْبُ

(are the) party

ḥiz'bu

ٱللَّهِ ۚ

(of) Allah

l-lahi

أَلَآ

No doubt

alā

إِنَّ

Indeed

inna

حِزْبَ

(the) party

ḥiz'ba

ٱللَّهِ

(of) Allah

l-lahi

هُمُ

they

humu

ٱلْمُفْلِحُونَ

(are) the successful ones

l-muf'liḥūna

٢٢

You will not find a people who believe in Allāh and the Last Day having affection for those who oppose Allāh and His Messenger, even if they were their fathers or their sons or their brothers or their kindred. Those - He has decreed within their hearts faith and supported them with spirit1 from Him. And We will admit them to gardens beneath which rivers flow, wherein they abide eternally. Allāh is pleased with them, and they are pleased with Him - those are the party of Allāh. Unquestionably, the party of Allāh - they are the successful.
