هَلْ Has hal reached you atāka (the) narration ḥadīthu (of the) guests ḍayfi (of) Ibrahim ib'rāhīma the honored l-muk'ramīna
Has there reached you the story of the honored guests of Abraham? -
إِذْ When idh they entered dakhalū upon him ʿalayhi and said faqālū Peace salāman He said qāla Peace salāmun a people qawmun unknown munkarūna
When they entered upon him and said, "[We greet you with] peace." He answered, "[And upon you] peace; [you are] a people unknown."
فَرَاغَ Then he went farāgha to ilā his household ahlihi and came fajāa with a calf biʿij'lin fat samīnin
Then he went to his family and came with a fat [roasted] calf.
فَقَرَّبَهُۥٓ And he placed it near faqarrabahu [to] them ilayhim he said qāla Will not alā you eat takulūna
And placed it near them; he said, "Will you not eat?"
فَأَوْجَسَ Then he felt fa-awjasa from them min'hum a fear khīfatan They said qālū (Do) not lā fear takhaf and they gave him glad tidings wabasharūhu of a son bighulāmin learned ʿalīmin
And he felt from them apprehension. They said, "Fear not," and gave him good tidings of a learned boy.
فَأَقْبَلَتِ Then came forward fa-aqbalati his wife im'ra-atuhu with fī a loud voice ṣarratin and struck faṣakkat her face wajhahā and she said waqālat An old woman ʿajūzun barren ʿaqīmun
And his wife approached with a cry [of alarm] and struck her face and said, "[I am] a barren old woman!"
قَالُوا۟ They said qālū Thus kadhāliki said qāla your Lord rabbuki Indeed, He innahu [He] huwa (is) the All-Wise l-ḥakīmu the All-Knower l-ʿalīmu
They said, "Thus has said your Lord; indeed, He is the Wise, the Knowing."
