يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا O you yāayyuhā who alladhīna believe āmanū (Do) not lā take tattakhidhū those who alladhīna take ittakhadhū your religion dīnakum (in) ridicule huzuwan and fun walaʿiban from mina those who alladhīna are given ūtū the Book l-kitāba from min before you qablikum and the disbelievers wal-kufāra (as) allies awliyāa And fear wa-ittaqū Allah l-laha if in you are kuntum believers mu'minīna
O you who have believed, take not those who have taken your religion in ridicule and amusement among the ones who were given the Scripture before you nor the disbelievers as allies. And fear Allāh, if you should [truly] be believers.
وَإِذَا And when wa-idhā you make a call nādaytum for ilā the prayer l-ṣalati they take it ittakhadhūhā (in) ridicule huzuwan and fun walaʿiban That dhālika (is) because they bi-annahum (are) a people qawmun (who do) not lā understand yaʿqilūna
And when you call to prayer, they take it in ridicule and amusement. That is because they are a people who do not use reason.
