وَإِذْ And when wa-idh said qāla Musa mūsā to his people liqawmihi O my people yāqawmi remember udh'kurū (the) Favor niʿ'mata (of) Allah l-lahi upon you ʿalaykum when idh He placed jaʿala among you fīkum Prophets anbiyāa and made you wajaʿalakum kings mulūkan and He gave you waātākum what mā not lam He (had) given yu'ti (to) anyone aḥadan from mina the worlds l-ʿālamīna
And [mention, O Muḥammad], when Moses said to his people, "O my people, remember the favor of Allāh upon you when He appointed among you prophets and made you possessors and gave you that which He had not given anyone among the worlds.
يَـٰقَوْمِ O my people yāqawmi Enter ud'khulū the land l-arḍa the Holy l-muqadasata which allatī (has been) ordained kataba (by) Allah l-lahu for you lakum and (do) not walā turn tartaddū on ʿalā your backs adbārikum then you will turn back fatanqalibū (as) losers khāsirīna
O my people, enter the blessed land [i.e., Palestine] which Allāh has assigned to you and do not turn back [from fighting in Allāh's cause] and [thus] become losers."
قَالُوا۟ They said qālū O Musa yāmūsā Indeed inna in it fīhā (are) people qawman (of) tyrannical strength jabbārīna and indeed, we wa-innā never lan will enter it nadkhulahā until ḥattā they leave yakhrujū from it min'hā and if fa-in they leave yakhrujū [from] it min'hā then certainly we (will) fa-innā enter (it) dākhilūna
They said, "O Moses, indeed within it is a people of tyrannical strength, and indeed, we will never enter it until they leave it; but if they leave it, then we will enter."
قَالَ Said qāla two men rajulāni from mina those who alladhīna feared (Allah) yakhāfūna (had) favored anʿama Allah l-lahu [on] both of them ʿalayhimā Enter ud'khulū upon them ʿalayhimu (through) the gate l-bāba then when fa-idhā you have entered it dakhaltumūhu then indeed, you (will be) fa-innakum victorious ghālibūna And upon waʿalā Allah l-lahi then put your trust fatawakkalū if in you are kuntum believers mu'minīna
Said two men from those who feared [to disobey] upon whom Allāh had bestowed favor, "Enter upon them through the gate, for when you have entered it, you will be predominant. And upon Allāh rely, if you should be believers."
قَالُوا۟ They said qālū O Musa yāmūsā Indeed, we innā never lan will enter it nadkhulahā ever abadan for mā as long as they are dāmū in it fīhā So go fa-idh'hab you anta and your Lord warabbuka and you both fight faqātilā Indeed, we innā are [here] hāhunā sitting qāʿidūna
They said, "O Moses, indeed we will not enter it, ever, as long as they are within it; so go, you and your Lord, and fight. Indeed, we are remaining right here."
قَالَ He said qāla O my Lord rabbi Indeed, I innī (do) not lā (have) power amliku except illā (over) myself nafsī and my brother wa-akhī so (make a) separation fa-uf'ruq between us baynanā and between wabayna the people l-qawmi (the) defiantly disobedient l-fāsiqīna
[Moses] said, "My Lord, indeed I do not possess [i.e., control] except myself and my brother, so part us from the defiantly disobedient people."
قَالَ (Allah) said qāla Then indeed it fa-innahā (will be) forbidden muḥarramatun to them ʿalayhim (for) forty arbaʿīna years sanatan they will wander yatīhūna in fī the earth l-arḍi So (do) not falā grieve tasa over ʿalā the people l-qawmi the defiantly disobedient l-fāsiqīna
[Allāh] said, "Then indeed, it is forbidden to them for forty years [in which] they will wander throughout the land. So do not grieve over the defiantly disobedient people."
