وَٱلَّذِى But the one who wa-alladhī says qāla to his parents liwālidayhi Uff uffin to both of you lakumā Do you promise me ataʿidāninī that an I will be brought forth ukh'raja and have already passed away waqad and have already passed away khalati the generations l-qurūnu before me min before me qablī And they both wahumā seek help yastaghīthāni (of) Allah l-laha Woe to you waylaka Believe āmin Indeed inna (the) Promise waʿda (of) Allah l-lahi (is) true ḥaqqun But he says fayaqūlu Not mā (is) this hādhā but illā (the) stories asāṭīru (of) the former (people) l-awalīna
But one who says to his parents, "Uff to you; do you promise me that I will be brought forth [from the earth] when generations before me have already passed on [into oblivion]?" while they call to Allāh for help [and to their son], "Woe to you! Believe! Indeed, the promise of Allāh is truth." But he says, "This is not but legends of the former peoples" -
أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ Those ulāika (are) the ones alladhīna (has) proved true ḥaqqa against them ʿalayhimu the word l-qawlu among fī nations umamin (that) already passed away qad (that) already passed away khalat before them min before them qablihim of mina (the) jinn l-jini and the men wal-insi Indeed, they innahum are kānū (the) losers khāsirīna
Those are the ones upon whom the word [i.e., decree] has come into effect, [who will be] among nations which had passed on before them of jinn and men. Indeed, they [all] were losers.
وَلِكُلٍّۢ And for all walikullin (are) degrees darajātun for what mimmā they did ʿamilū and that He may fully compensate them waliyuwaffiyahum (for) their deeds aʿmālahum and they wahum will not be wronged lā will not be wronged yuẓ'lamūna
And for all there are degrees [of reward and punishment] for what they have done, and [it is] so that He may fully compensate them for their deeds, and they will not be wronged.
وَيَوْمَ And (the) Day wayawma will be exposed yuʿ'raḍu those who alladhīna disbelieved kafarū to ʿalā the Fire l-nāri You exhausted adhhabtum your good things ṭayyibātikum in fī your life ḥayātikumu (of) the world l-dun'yā and you took your pleasures wa-is'tamtaʿtum therein bihā So today fal-yawma you will be recompensed tuj'zawna (with) a punishment ʿadhāba humiliating l-hūni because bimā you were kuntum arrogant tastakbirūna in fī the earth l-arḍi without bighayri [the] right l-ḥaqi and because wabimā you were kuntum defiantly disobedient tafsuqūna
And the Day those who disbelieved are exposed to the Fire [it will be said], "You exhausted your pleasures during your worldly life and enjoyed them, so this Day you will be awarded the punishment of [extreme] humiliation because you were arrogant upon the earth without right and because you were defiantly disobedient."
