وَإِذَا And when wa-idhā it was said qīla Indeed inna (the) Promise waʿda (of) Allah l-lahi (is) true ḥaqqun and the Hour wal-sāʿatu (there is) no lā doubt rayba about it fīhā you said qul'tum Not mā we know nadrī what mā the Hour (is) l-sāʿatu Not in we think naẓunnu except illā an assumption ẓannan and not wamā we naḥnu (are) convinced bimus'tayqinīna
And when it was said, 'Indeed, the promise of Allāh is truth and the Hour [is coming] - no doubt about it,' you said, 'We know not what is the Hour. We assume only assumption, and we are not convinced.'"
