قُلْ Say qul O People yāahla (of) the Book l-kitābi Come taʿālaw to ilā a word kalimatin equitable sawāin between us baynanā and between you wabaynakum that not allā we worship naʿbuda except illā Allah l-laha and not walā we associate partners nush'rika with Him bihi anything shayan and not walā take yattakhidha some of us baʿḍunā (to) others baʿḍan (as) lords arbāban from min besides dūni Allah l-lahi Then if fa-in they turn away tawallaw then say faqūlū Bear witness ish'hadū that we bi-annā (are) Muslims mus'limūna
Say, "O People of the Scripture, come to a word that is equitable between us and you - that we will not worship except Allāh and not associate anything with Him and not take one another as lords instead of Allāh."1 But if they turn away, then say, "Bear witness that we are Muslims [submitting to Him]."
