إِن If in you disbelieve takfurū then indeed fa-inna Allah l-laha (is) free from need ghaniyyun of you ʿankum And not walā He likes yarḍā in His slaves liʿibādihi ungratefulness l-kuf'ra And if wa-in you are grateful tashkurū He likes it yarḍahu in you lakum And not walā will bear taziru bearer of burdens wāziratun (the) burden wiz'ra (of) another ukh'rā Then thumma to ilā your Lord rabbikum (is) your return marjiʿukum then He will inform you fayunabbi-ukum about what bimā you used to kuntum do taʿmalūna Indeed, He innahu (is) the All-Knower ʿalīmun of what (is) in the breasts bidhāti of what (is) in the breasts l-ṣudūri
If you disbelieve - indeed, Allāh is Free from need of you. And He does not approve for His servants disbelief. And if you are grateful, He approves [i.e., likes] it for you; and no bearer of burdens will bear the burden of another. Then to your Lord is your return, and He will inform you about what you used to do. Indeed, He is Knowing of that within the breasts.
۞ وَإِذَا And when wa-idhā touches massa [the] man l-insāna adversity ḍurrun he calls daʿā his Lord rabbahu turning munīban to Him ilayhi then thumma when idhā He bestows on him khawwalahu a favor niʿ'matan from Himself min'hu he forgets nasiya (for) what mā he used to call kāna he used to call yadʿū [to] Him ilayhi before min before qablu and he sets up wajaʿala to Allah lillahi rivals andādan to mislead liyuḍilla from ʿan His Path sabīlihi Say qul Enjoy tamattaʿ in your disbelief bikuf'rika (for) a little qalīlan Indeed, you innaka (are) of min (the) companions aṣḥābi (of) the Fire l-nāri
And when adversity touches man, he calls upon his Lord, turning to Him [alone]; then when He bestows on him a favor from Himself, he forgets Him whom he called upon before, and he attributes to Allāh equals to mislead [people] from His way. Say, "Enjoy your disbelief for a little; indeed, you are of the companions of the Fire."
