ٱلْحَمْدُ

All praises

al-ḥamdu

لِلَّهِ

(be) to Allah

lillahi

فَاطِرِ

Originator

fāṭiri

ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ

(of) the heavens

l-samāwāti

وَٱلْأَرْضِ

and the earth

wal-arḍi

جَاعِلِ

(Who) makes

jāʿili

ٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةِ

the Angels

l-malāikati

رُسُلًا

messengers

rusulan

أُو۟لِىٓ

having wings

ulī

أَجْنِحَةٍۢ

having wings

ajniḥatin

مَّثْنَىٰ

two

mathnā

وَثُلَـٰثَ

or three

wathulātha

وَرُبَـٰعَ ۚ

or four

warubāʿa

يَزِيدُ

He increases

yazīdu

فِى

in

ٱلْخَلْقِ

the creation

l-khalqi

مَا

what

يَشَآءُ ۚ

He wills

yashāu

إِنَّ

Indeed

inna

ٱللَّهَ

Allah

l-laha

عَلَىٰ

(is) on

ʿalā

كُلِّ

every

kulli

شَىْءٍۢ

thing

shayin

قَدِيرٌۭ

All-Powerful

qadīrun

١

[All] praise is [due] to Allāh, Creator of the heavens and the earth, [who] made the angels messengers having wings, two or three or four. He increases in creation what He wills. Indeed, Allāh is over all things competent.

— Saheeh International

مَّا

What

يَفْتَحِ

Allah grants

yaftaḥi

ٱللَّهُ

Allah grants

l-lahu

لِلنَّاسِ

to mankind

lilnnāsi

مِن

of

min

رَّحْمَةٍۢ

Mercy

raḥmatin

فَلَا

then none

falā

مُمْسِكَ

(can) withhold

mum'sika

لَهَا ۖ

it

lahā

وَمَا

And what

wamā

يُمْسِكْ

He withholds

yum'sik

فَلَا

then none

falā

مُرْسِلَ

(can) release

mur'sila

لَهُۥ

it

lahu

مِنۢ

thereafter

min

بَعْدِهِۦ ۚ

thereafter

baʿdihi

وَهُوَ

And He

wahuwa

ٱلْعَزِيزُ

(is) the All-Mighty

l-ʿazīzu

ٱلْحَكِيمُ

the All-Wise

l-ḥakīmu

٢

Whatever Allāh grants to people of mercy - none can withhold it; and whatever He withholds - none can release it thereafter. And He is the Exalted in Might, the Wise.

— Saheeh International

يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا

O

yāayyuhā

ٱلنَّاسُ

mankind

l-nāsu

ٱذْكُرُوا۟

Remember

udh'kurū

نِعْمَتَ

(the) Favor

niʿ'mata

ٱللَّهِ

(of) Allah

l-lahi

عَلَيْكُمْ ۚ

upon you

ʿalaykum

هَلْ

Is

hal

مِنْ

(there) any

min

خَـٰلِقٍ

creator

khāliqin

غَيْرُ

other (than) Allah

ghayru

ٱللَّهِ

other (than) Allah

l-lahi

يَرْزُقُكُم

who provides for you

yarzuqukum

مِّنَ

from

mina

ٱلسَّمَآءِ

the sky

l-samāi

وَٱلْأَرْضِ ۚ

and the earth

wal-arḍi

لَآ

(There is) no

إِلَـٰهَ

god

ilāha

إِلَّا

but

illā

هُوَ ۖ

He

huwa

فَأَنَّىٰ

Then, how

fa-annā

تُؤْفَكُونَ

(are) you deluded

tu'fakūna

٣

O mankind, remember the favor of Allāh upon you. Is there any creator other than Allāh who provides for you from the heaven and earth? There is no deity except Him, so how are you deluded?

— Saheeh International

وَإِن

And if

wa-in

يُكَذِّبُوكَ

they deny you

yukadhibūka

فَقَدْ

then certainly

faqad

كُذِّبَتْ

were denied

kudhibat

رُسُلٌۭ

Messengers

rusulun

مِّن

before you

min

قَبْلِكَ ۚ

before you

qablika

وَإِلَى

And to

wa-ilā

ٱللَّهِ

Allah

l-lahi

تُرْجَعُ

return

tur'jaʿu

ٱلْأُمُورُ

the matters

l-umūru

٤

And if they deny you, [O Muḥammad] - already were messengers denied before you. And to Allāh are returned [all] matters.

— Saheeh International

يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا

O

yāayyuhā

ٱلنَّاسُ

mankind

l-nāsu

إِنَّ

Indeed

inna

وَعْدَ

(the) promise

waʿda

ٱللَّهِ

(of) Allah

l-lahi

حَقٌّۭ ۖ

(is) true

ḥaqqun

فَلَا

So (let) not

falā

تَغُرَّنَّكُمُ

deceive you

taghurrannakumu

ٱلْحَيَوٰةُ

the life

l-ḥayatu

ٱلدُّنْيَا ۖ

(of) the world

l-dun'yā

وَلَا

and (let) not

walā

يَغُرَّنَّكُم

deceive you

yaghurrannakum

بِٱللَّهِ

about Allah

bil-lahi

ٱلْغَرُورُ

the Deceiver

l-gharūru

٥

O mankind, indeed the promise of Allāh is truth, so let not the worldly life delude you and be not deceived about Allāh by the Deceiver [i.e., Satan].

— Saheeh International

إِنَّ

Indeed

inna

ٱلشَّيْطَـٰنَ

the Shaitaan

l-shayṭāna

لَكُمْ

(is) to you

lakum

عَدُوٌّۭ

an enemy

ʿaduwwun

فَٱتَّخِذُوهُ

so take him

fa-ittakhidhūhu

عَدُوًّا ۚ

(as) an enemy

ʿaduwwan

إِنَّمَا

Only

innamā

يَدْعُوا۟

he invites

yadʿū

حِزْبَهُۥ

his party

ḥiz'bahu

لِيَكُونُوا۟

that they may be

liyakūnū

مِنْ

among

min

أَصْحَـٰبِ

(the) companions

aṣḥābi

ٱلسَّعِيرِ

(of) the Blaze

l-saʿīri

٦

Indeed, Satan is an enemy to you; so take him as an enemy. He only invites his party to be among the companions of the Blaze.

— Saheeh International

ٱلَّذِينَ

Those who

alladhīna

كَفَرُوا۟

disbelieve

kafarū

لَهُمْ

for them

lahum

عَذَابٌۭ

(will be) a punishment

ʿadhābun

شَدِيدٌۭ ۖ

severe

shadīdun

وَٱلَّذِينَ

and those

wa-alladhīna

ءَامَنُوا۟

who believe

āmanū

وَعَمِلُوا۟

and do

waʿamilū

ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ

righteous deeds

l-ṣāliḥāti

لَهُم

for them

lahum

مَّغْفِرَةٌۭ

(will be) forgiveness

maghfiratun

وَأَجْرٌۭ

and a reward

wa-ajrun

كَبِيرٌ

great

kabīrun

٧

Those who disbelieve will have a severe punishment, and those who believe and do righteous deeds will have forgiveness and great reward.

— Saheeh International

أَفَمَن

Then is (he) who

afaman

زُيِّنَ

is made fair-seeming

zuyyina

لَهُۥ

to him

lahu

سُوٓءُ

(the) evil

sūu

عَمَلِهِۦ

(of) his deed

ʿamalihi

فَرَءَاهُ

so that he sees it

faraāhu

حَسَنًۭا ۖ

(as) good

ḥasanan

فَإِنَّ

For indeed

fa-inna

ٱللَّهَ

Allah

l-laha

يُضِلُّ

lets go astray

yuḍillu

مَن

whom

man

يَشَآءُ

He wills

yashāu

وَيَهْدِى

and guides

wayahdī

مَن

whom

man

يَشَآءُ ۖ

He wills

yashāu

فَلَا

So (let) not

falā

تَذْهَبْ

go out

tadhhab

نَفْسُكَ

your soul

nafsuka

عَلَيْهِمْ

for them

ʿalayhim

حَسَرَٰتٍ ۚ

(in) regrets

ḥasarātin

إِنَّ

Indeed

inna

ٱللَّهَ

Allah

l-laha

عَلِيمٌۢ

(is) All-Knower

ʿalīmun

بِمَا

of what

bimā

يَصْنَعُونَ

they do

yaṣnaʿūna

٨

Then is one to whom the evil of his deed has been made attractive so he considers it good [like one rightly guided]? For indeed, Allāh sends astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. So do not let yourself perish over them in regret. Indeed, Allāh is Knowing of what they do.

— Saheeh International

وَٱللَّهُ

And Allah

wal-lahu

ٱلَّذِىٓ

(is) the One Who

alladhī

أَرْسَلَ

sends

arsala

ٱلرِّيَـٰحَ

the winds

l-riyāḥa

فَتُثِيرُ

so that they raise

fatuthīru

سَحَابًۭا

(the) clouds

saḥāban

فَسُقْنَـٰهُ

and We drive them

fasuq'nāhu

إِلَىٰ

to

ilā

بَلَدٍۢ

a land

baladin

مَّيِّتٍۢ

dead

mayyitin

فَأَحْيَيْنَا

and We revive

fa-aḥyaynā

بِهِ

therewith

bihi

ٱلْأَرْضَ

the earth

l-arḍa

بَعْدَ

after

baʿda

مَوْتِهَا ۚ

its death

mawtihā

كَذَٰلِكَ

Thus

kadhālika

ٱلنُّشُورُ

(will be) the Resurrection

l-nushūru

٩

And it is Allāh who sends the winds, and they stir the clouds, and We drive them to a dead land and give life thereby to the earth after its lifelessness. Thus is the resurrection.

— Saheeh International

مَن

Whoever

man

كَانَ

[is] desires

kāna

يُرِيدُ

[is] desires

yurīdu

ٱلْعِزَّةَ

the honor

l-ʿizata

فَلِلَّهِ

then for Allah

falillahi

ٱلْعِزَّةُ

(is) the Honor

l-ʿizatu

جَمِيعًا ۚ

all

jamīʿan

إِلَيْهِ

To Him

ilayhi

يَصْعَدُ

ascends

yaṣʿadu

ٱلْكَلِمُ

the words

l-kalimu

ٱلطَّيِّبُ

good

l-ṭayibu

وَٱلْعَمَلُ

and the deed

wal-ʿamalu

ٱلصَّـٰلِحُ

righteous

l-ṣāliḥu

يَرْفَعُهُۥ ۚ

raises it

yarfaʿuhu

وَٱلَّذِينَ

But those who

wa-alladhīna

يَمْكُرُونَ

plot

yamkurūna

ٱلسَّيِّـَٔاتِ

the evil

l-sayiāti

لَهُمْ

for them

lahum

عَذَابٌۭ

(is) a punishment

ʿadhābun

شَدِيدٌۭ ۖ

severe

shadīdun

وَمَكْرُ

and (the) plotting

wamakru

أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ

(of) those

ulāika

هُوَ

it

huwa

يَبُورُ

(will) perish

yabūru

١٠

Whoever desires honor [through power] - then to Allāh belongs all honor.1 To Him ascends good speech, and righteous work raises it.2 But they who plot evil deeds will have a severe punishment, and the plotting of those - it will perish.

— Saheeh International

وَٱللَّهُ

And Allah

wal-lahu

خَلَقَكُم

created you

khalaqakum

مِّن

from

min

تُرَابٍۢ

dust

turābin

ثُمَّ

then

thumma

مِن

from

min

نُّطْفَةٍۢ

a semen-drop

nuṭ'fatin

ثُمَّ

then

thumma

جَعَلَكُمْ

He made you

jaʿalakum

أَزْوَٰجًۭا ۚ

pairs

azwājan

وَمَا

And not

wamā

تَحْمِلُ

conceives

taḥmilu

مِنْ

any

min

أُنثَىٰ

female

unthā

وَلَا

and not

walā

تَضَعُ

gives birth

taḍaʿu

إِلَّا

except

illā

بِعِلْمِهِۦ ۚ

with His knowledge

biʿil'mihi

وَمَا

And not

wamā

يُعَمَّرُ

is granted life

yuʿammaru

مِن

any

min

مُّعَمَّرٍۢ

aged person

muʿammarin

وَلَا

and not

walā

يُنقَصُ

is lessened

yunqaṣu

مِنْ

from

min

عُمُرِهِۦٓ

his life

ʿumurihi

إِلَّا

but

illā

فِى

(is) in

كِتَـٰبٍ ۚ

a Register

kitābin

إِنَّ

Indeed

inna

ذَٰلِكَ

that

dhālika

عَلَى

for

ʿalā

ٱللَّهِ

Allah

l-lahi

يَسِيرٌۭ

(is) easy

yasīrun

١١

And Allāh created you from dust, then from a sperm-drop; then He made you mates. And no female conceives nor does she give birth except with His knowledge. And no aged person is granted [additional] life nor is his lifespan lessened but that it is in a register. Indeed, that for Allāh is easy.

— Saheeh International

وَمَا

And not

wamā

يَسْتَوِى

are alike

yastawī

ٱلْبَحْرَانِ

the two seas

l-baḥrāni

هَـٰذَا

This

hādhā

عَذْبٌۭ

(is) fresh

ʿadhbun

فُرَاتٌۭ

sweet

furātun

سَآئِغٌۭ

pleasant

sāighun

شَرَابُهُۥ

its drink

sharābuhu

وَهَـٰذَا

and this

wahādhā

مِلْحٌ

salty

mil'ḥun

أُجَاجٌۭ ۖ

(and) bitter

ujājun

وَمِن

And from

wamin

كُلٍّۢ

each

kullin

تَأْكُلُونَ

you eat

takulūna

لَحْمًۭا

meat

laḥman

طَرِيًّۭا

fresh

ṭariyyan

وَتَسْتَخْرِجُونَ

and you extract

watastakhrijūna

حِلْيَةًۭ

ornaments

ḥil'yatan

تَلْبَسُونَهَا ۖ

you wear them

talbasūnahā

وَتَرَى

and you see

watarā

ٱلْفُلْكَ

the ships

l-ful'ka

فِيهِ

in it

fīhi

مَوَاخِرَ

cleaving

mawākhira

لِتَبْتَغُوا۟

so that you may seek

litabtaghū

مِن

of

min

فَضْلِهِۦ

His Bounty

faḍlihi

وَلَعَلَّكُمْ

and that you may

walaʿallakum

تَشْكُرُونَ

be grateful

tashkurūna

١٢

And not alike are the two seas [i.e., bodies of water]. One is fresh and sweet, palatable for drinking, and one is salty and bitter. And from each you eat tender meat and extract ornaments which you wear, and you see the ships plowing through [them] that you might seek of His bounty; and perhaps you will be grateful.

— Saheeh International

يُولِجُ

He causes to enter

yūliju

ٱلَّيْلَ

the night

al-layla

فِى

in (to)

ٱلنَّهَارِ

the day

l-nahāri

وَيُولِجُ

and He causes to enter

wayūliju

ٱلنَّهَارَ

the day

l-nahāra

فِى

in (to)

ٱلَّيْلِ

the night

al-layli

وَسَخَّرَ

and He has subjected

wasakhara

ٱلشَّمْسَ

the sun

l-shamsa

وَٱلْقَمَرَ

and the moon

wal-qamara

كُلٌّۭ

each

kullun

يَجْرِى

running

yajrī

لِأَجَلٍۢ

for a term

li-ajalin

مُّسَمًّۭى ۚ

appointed

musamman

ذَٰلِكُمُ

That (is)

dhālikumu

ٱللَّهُ

Allah

l-lahu

رَبُّكُمْ

your Lord

rabbukum

لَهُ

for Him

lahu

ٱلْمُلْكُ ۚ

(is) the Dominion

l-mul'ku

وَٱلَّذِينَ

And those whom

wa-alladhīna

تَدْعُونَ

you invoke

tadʿūna

مِن

besides Him

min

دُونِهِۦ

besides Him

dūnihi

مَا

not

يَمْلِكُونَ

they possess

yamlikūna

مِن

even

min

قِطْمِيرٍ

(as much as) the membrane of a date-seed

qiṭ'mīrin

١٣

He causes the night to enter the day, and He causes the day to enter the night and has subjected the sun and the moon - each running [its course] for a specified term. That is Allāh, your Lord; to Him belongs sovereignty. And those whom you invoke other than Him do not possess [as much as] the membrane of a date seed.

— Saheeh International

إِن

If

in

تَدْعُوهُمْ

you invoke them

tadʿūhum

لَا

not

يَسْمَعُوا۟

they hear

yasmaʿū

دُعَآءَكُمْ

your call

duʿāakum

وَلَوْ

and if

walaw

سَمِعُوا۟

they heard

samiʿū

مَا

not

ٱسْتَجَابُوا۟

they (would) respond

is'tajābū

لَكُمْ ۖ

to you

lakum

وَيَوْمَ

And (on the) Day

wayawma

ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ

(of) the Resurrection

l-qiyāmati

يَكْفُرُونَ

they will deny

yakfurūna

بِشِرْكِكُمْ ۚ

your association

bishir'kikum

وَلَا

And none

walā

يُنَبِّئُكَ

can inform you

yunabbi-uka

مِثْلُ

like

mith'lu

خَبِيرٍۢ

(the) All-Aware

khabīrin

١٤

If you invoke them, they do not hear your supplication; and if they heard, they would not respond to you. And on the Day of Resurrection they will deny your association.1 And none can inform you like [one] Aware [of all matters].

— Saheeh International

۞ يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا

O

yāayyuhā

ٱلنَّاسُ

mankind

l-nāsu

أَنتُمُ

You

antumu

ٱلْفُقَرَآءُ

(are) those in need

l-fuqarāu

إِلَى

of

ilā

ٱللَّهِ ۖ

Allah

l-lahi

وَٱللَّهُ

while Allah

wal-lahu

هُوَ

He

huwa

ٱلْغَنِىُّ

(is) Free of need

l-ghaniyu

ٱلْحَمِيدُ

the Praiseworthy

l-ḥamīdu

١٥

O mankind, you are those in need of Allāh, while Allāh is the Free of need, the Praiseworthy.

— Saheeh International

إِن

If

in

يَشَأْ

He wills

yasha

يُذْهِبْكُمْ

He (can) do away with you

yudh'hib'kum

وَيَأْتِ

and bring

wayati

بِخَلْقٍۢ

in a creation

bikhalqin

جَدِيدٍۢ

new

jadīdin

١٦

If He wills, He can do away with you and bring forth a new creation.

— Saheeh International

وَمَا

And not

wamā

ذَٰلِكَ

that

dhālika

عَلَى

(is) on

ʿalā

ٱللَّهِ

Allah

l-lahi

بِعَزِيزٍۢ

difficult

biʿazīzin

١٧

And that is for Allāh not difficult.

— Saheeh International

وَلَا

And not

walā

تَزِرُ

will bear

taziru

وَازِرَةٌۭ

bearer of burdens

wāziratun

وِزْرَ

burden

wiz'ra

أُخْرَىٰ ۚ

(of) another

ukh'rā

وَإِن

And if

wa-in

تَدْعُ

calls

tadʿu

مُثْقَلَةٌ

a heavily laden

muth'qalatun

إِلَىٰ

to

ilā

حِمْلِهَا

(carry) its load

ḥim'lihā

لَا

not

يُحْمَلْ

will be carried

yuḥ'mal

مِنْهُ

of it

min'hu

شَىْءٌۭ

anything

shayon

وَلَوْ

even if

walaw

كَانَ

he be

kāna

ذَا

near of kin

dhā

قُرْبَىٰٓ ۗ

near of kin

qur'bā

إِنَّمَا

Only

innamā

تُنذِرُ

you can warn

tundhiru

ٱلَّذِينَ

those who

alladhīna

يَخْشَوْنَ

fear

yakhshawna

رَبَّهُم

their Lord

rabbahum

بِٱلْغَيْبِ

unseen

bil-ghaybi

وَأَقَامُوا۟

and establish

wa-aqāmū

ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ ۚ

the prayer

l-ṣalata

وَمَن

And whoever

waman

تَزَكَّىٰ

purifies himself

tazakkā

فَإِنَّمَا

then only

fa-innamā

يَتَزَكَّىٰ

he purifies

yatazakkā

لِنَفْسِهِۦ ۚ

for his own self

linafsihi

وَإِلَى

And to

wa-ilā

ٱللَّهِ

Allah

l-lahi

ٱلْمَصِيرُ

(is) the destination

l-maṣīru

١٨

And no bearer of burdens will bear the burden of another. And if a heavily laden soul calls [another] to [carry some of] its load, nothing of it will be carried, even if he should be a close relative. You can only warn those who fear their Lord unseen and have established prayer. And whoever purifies himself only purifies himself for [the benefit of] his soul. And to Allāh is the [final] destination.

— Saheeh International

وَمَا

And not

wamā

يَسْتَوِى

equal

yastawī

ٱلْأَعْمَىٰ

(are) the blind

l-aʿmā

وَٱلْبَصِيرُ

and the seeing

wal-baṣīru

١٩

Not equal are the blind and the seeing,

— Saheeh International

وَلَا

And not

walā

ٱلظُّلُمَـٰتُ

the darkness[es]

l-ẓulumātu

وَلَا

and not

walā

ٱلنُّورُ

[the] light

l-nūru

٢٠

Nor are the darknesses and the light,

— Saheeh International

وَلَا

And not

walā

ٱلظِّلُّ

the shade

l-ẓilu

وَلَا

and not

walā

ٱلْحَرُورُ

the heat

l-ḥarūru

٢١

Nor are the shade and the heat,1

— Saheeh International

وَمَا

And not

wamā

يَسْتَوِى

equal

yastawī

ٱلْأَحْيَآءُ

(are) the living

l-aḥyāu

وَلَا

and not

walā

ٱلْأَمْوَٰتُ ۚ

the dead

l-amwātu

إِنَّ

Indeed

inna

ٱللَّهَ

Allah

l-laha

يُسْمِعُ

causes to hear

yus'miʿu

مَن

whom

man

يَشَآءُ ۖ

He wills

yashāu

وَمَآ

and not

wamā

أَنتَ

you

anta

بِمُسْمِعٍۢ

can make hear

bimus'miʿin

مَّن

(those) who

man

فِى

(are) in

ٱلْقُبُورِ

the graves

l-qubūri

٢٢

And not equal are the living and the dead. Indeed, Allāh causes to hear whom He wills, but you cannot make hear those in the graves.1

— Saheeh International

إِنْ

Not

in

أَنتَ

you (are)

anta

إِلَّا

but

illā

نَذِيرٌ

a warner

nadhīrun

٢٣

You, [O Muḥammad], are not but a warner.

— Saheeh International

إِنَّآ

Indeed, We

innā

أَرْسَلْنَـٰكَ

[We] have sent you

arsalnāka

بِٱلْحَقِّ

with the truth

bil-ḥaqi

بَشِيرًۭا

(as) a bearer of glad tidings

bashīran

وَنَذِيرًۭا ۚ

and (as) a warner

wanadhīran

وَإِن

And not

wa-in

مِّنْ

(was) any

min

أُمَّةٍ

nation

ummatin

إِلَّا

but

illā

خَلَا

had passed

khalā

فِيهَا

within it

fīhā

نَذِيرٌۭ

a warner

nadhīrun

٢٤

Indeed, We have sent you with the truth as a bringer of good tidings and a warner. And there was no nation but that there had passed within it a warner.

— Saheeh International

وَإِن

And if

wa-in

يُكَذِّبُوكَ

they deny you

yukadhibūka

فَقَدْ

then certainly

faqad

كَذَّبَ

denied

kadhaba

ٱلَّذِينَ

those who

alladhīna

مِن

(were) before them

min

قَبْلِهِمْ

(were) before them

qablihim

جَآءَتْهُمْ

Came to them

jāathum

رُسُلُهُم

their Messengers

rusuluhum

بِٱلْبَيِّنَـٰتِ

with clear signs

bil-bayināti

وَبِٱلزُّبُرِ

and with Scriptures

wabil-zuburi

وَبِٱلْكِتَـٰبِ

and with the Book

wabil-kitābi

ٱلْمُنِيرِ

[the] enlightening

l-munīri

٢٥

And if they deny you - then already have those before them denied. Their messengers came to them with clear proofs and written ordinances and with the enlightening Scripture.

— Saheeh International

ثُمَّ

Then

thumma

أَخَذْتُ

I seized

akhadhtu

ٱلَّذِينَ

those who

alladhīna

كَفَرُوا۟ ۖ

disbelieved

kafarū

فَكَيْفَ

and how

fakayfa

كَانَ

was

kāna

نَكِيرِ

My rejection

nakīri

٢٦

Then I seized the ones who disbelieved, and how [terrible] was My reproach.

— Saheeh International

أَلَمْ

Do not

alam

تَرَ

you see

tara

أَنَّ

that

anna

ٱللَّهَ

Allah

l-laha

أَنزَلَ

sends down

anzala

مِنَ

from

mina

ٱلسَّمَآءِ

the sky

l-samāi

مَآءًۭ

water

māan

فَأَخْرَجْنَا

then We bring forth

fa-akhrajnā

بِهِۦ

therewith

bihi

ثَمَرَٰتٍۢ

fruits

thamarātin

مُّخْتَلِفًا

(of) various

mukh'talifan

أَلْوَٰنُهَا ۚ

[their] colors

alwānuhā

وَمِنَ

And in

wamina

ٱلْجِبَالِ

the mountains

l-jibāli

جُدَدٌۢ

(are) tracts

judadun

بِيضٌۭ

white

bīḍun

وَحُمْرٌۭ

and red

waḥum'run

مُّخْتَلِفٌ

(of) various

mukh'talifun

أَلْوَٰنُهَا

[their] colors

alwānuhā

وَغَرَابِيبُ

and intensely black

wagharābību

سُودٌۭ

and intensely black

sūdun

٢٧

Do you not see that Allāh sends down rain from the sky, and We produce thereby fruits of varying colors? And in the mountains are tracts, white and red of varying shades and [some] extremely black.

— Saheeh International

وَمِنَ

And among

wamina

ٱلنَّاسِ

men

l-nāsi

وَٱلدَّوَآبِّ

and moving creatures

wal-dawābi

وَٱلْأَنْعَـٰمِ

and the cattle

wal-anʿāmi

مُخْتَلِفٌ

(are) various

mukh'talifun

أَلْوَٰنُهُۥ

[their] colors

alwānuhu

كَذَٰلِكَ ۗ

likewise

kadhālika

إِنَّمَا

Only

innamā

يَخْشَى

fear

yakhshā

ٱللَّهَ

Allah

l-laha

مِنْ

among

min

عِبَادِهِ

His slaves

ʿibādihi

ٱلْعُلَمَـٰٓؤُا۟ ۗ

those who have knowledge

l-ʿulamāu

إِنَّ

Indeed

inna

ٱللَّهَ

Allah

l-laha

عَزِيزٌ

(is) All-Mighty

ʿazīzun

غَفُورٌ

Oft-Forgiving

ghafūrun

٢٨

And among people and moving creatures and grazing livestock are various colors similarly. Only those fear Allāh, from among His servants, who have knowledge. Indeed, Allāh is Exalted in Might and Forgiving.

— Saheeh International

إِنَّ

Indeed

inna

ٱلَّذِينَ

those who

alladhīna

يَتْلُونَ

recite

yatlūna

كِتَـٰبَ

(the) Book

kitāba

ٱللَّهِ

(of) Allah

l-lahi

وَأَقَامُوا۟

and establish

wa-aqāmū

ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ

the prayer

l-ṣalata

وَأَنفَقُوا۟

and spend

wa-anfaqū

مِمَّا

out of what

mimmā

رَزَقْنَـٰهُمْ

We have provided them

razaqnāhum

سِرًّۭا

secretly

sirran

وَعَلَانِيَةًۭ

and openly

waʿalāniyatan

يَرْجُونَ

hope

yarjūna

تِجَـٰرَةًۭ

(for) a commerce

tijāratan

لَّن

never

lan

تَبُورَ

it will perish

tabūra

٢٩

Indeed, those who recite the Book of Allāh and establish prayer and spend [in His cause] out of what We have provided them, secretly and publicly, [can] expect a transaction [i.e., profit] that will never perish -

— Saheeh International

لِيُوَفِّيَهُمْ

That He may give them in full

liyuwaffiyahum

أُجُورَهُمْ

their rewards

ujūrahum

وَيَزِيدَهُم

and increase for them

wayazīdahum

مِّن

of

min

فَضْلِهِۦٓ ۚ

His Bounty

faḍlihi

إِنَّهُۥ

Indeed, He

innahu

غَفُورٌۭ

(is) Oft-Forgiving

ghafūrun

شَكُورٌۭ

Most Appreciative

shakūrun

٣٠

That He may give them in full their rewards and increase for them of His bounty. Indeed, He is Forgiving and Appreciative.1

— Saheeh International

وَٱلَّذِىٓ

And (that) which

wa-alladhī

أَوْحَيْنَآ

We have revealed

awḥaynā

إِلَيْكَ

to you

ilayka

مِنَ

of

mina

ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ

the Book

l-kitābi

هُوَ

it

huwa

ٱلْحَقُّ

(is) the truth

l-ḥaqu

مُصَدِّقًۭا

confirming

muṣaddiqan

لِّمَا

what (was)

limā

بَيْنَ

before it

bayna

يَدَيْهِ ۗ

before it

yadayhi

إِنَّ

Indeed

inna

ٱللَّهَ

Allah

l-laha

بِعِبَادِهِۦ

of His slaves

biʿibādihi

لَخَبِيرٌۢ

surely, (is) All-Aware

lakhabīrun

بَصِيرٌۭ

All-Seer

baṣīrun

٣١

And that which We have revealed to you, [O Muḥammad], of the Book is the truth, confirming what was before it. Indeed Allāh, of His servants, is Aware and Seeing.

— Saheeh International

ثُمَّ

Then

thumma

أَوْرَثْنَا

We caused to inherit

awrathnā

ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ

the Book

l-kitāba

ٱلَّذِينَ

those whom

alladhīna

ٱصْطَفَيْنَا

We have chosen

iṣ'ṭafaynā

مِنْ

of

min

عِبَادِنَا ۖ

Our slaves

ʿibādinā

فَمِنْهُمْ

and among them

famin'hum

ظَالِمٌۭ

(is he) who wrongs

ẓālimun

لِّنَفْسِهِۦ

himself

linafsihi

وَمِنْهُم

and among them

wamin'hum

مُّقْتَصِدٌۭ

(is he who is) moderate

muq'taṣidun

وَمِنْهُمْ

and among them

wamin'hum

سَابِقٌۢ

(is he who is) foremost

sābiqun

بِٱلْخَيْرَٰتِ

in good deeds

bil-khayrāti

بِإِذْنِ

by permission

bi-idh'ni

ٱللَّهِ ۚ

(of) Allah

l-lahi

ذَٰلِكَ

That

dhālika

هُوَ

is

huwa

ٱلْفَضْلُ

the Bounty

l-faḍlu

ٱلْكَبِيرُ

the great

l-kabīru

٣٢

Then We caused to inherit the Book those We have chosen of Our servants;1 and among them is he who wrongs himself [i.e., sins], and among them is he who is moderate, and among them is he who is foremost in good deeds by permission of Allāh. That [inheritance] is what is the great bounty.

— Saheeh International

جَنَّـٰتُ

Gardens

jannātu

عَدْنٍۢ

(of) Eternity

ʿadnin

يَدْخُلُونَهَا

they will enter them

yadkhulūnahā

يُحَلَّوْنَ

They will be adorned

yuḥallawna

فِيهَا

therein

fīhā

مِنْ

with

min

أَسَاوِرَ

bracelets

asāwira

مِن

of

min

ذَهَبٍۢ

gold

dhahabin

وَلُؤْلُؤًۭا ۖ

and pearls

walu'lu-an

وَلِبَاسُهُمْ

and their garments

walibāsuhum

فِيهَا

therein

fīhā

حَرِيرٌۭ

(will be of) silk

ḥarīrun

٣٣

[For them are] gardens of perpetual residence which they will enter. They will be adorned therein with bracelets of gold and pearls, and their garments therein will be silk.

— Saheeh International

وَقَالُوا۟

And they (will) say

waqālū

ٱلْحَمْدُ

All praises

l-ḥamdu

لِلَّهِ

(be) to Allah

lillahi

ٱلَّذِىٓ

the One Who

alladhī

أَذْهَبَ

(has) removed

adhhaba

عَنَّا

from us

ʿannā

ٱلْحَزَنَ ۖ

the sorrow

l-ḥazana

إِنَّ

Indeed

inna

رَبَّنَا

our Lord

rabbanā

لَغَفُورٌۭ

(is) surely Oft-Forgiving

laghafūrun

شَكُورٌ

Most Appreciative

shakūrun

٣٤

And they will say, "Praise to Allāh, who has removed from us [all] sorrow. Indeed, our Lord is Forgiving and Appreciative -

— Saheeh International

ٱلَّذِىٓ

The One Who

alladhī

أَحَلَّنَا

has settled us

aḥallanā

دَارَ

(in) a Home

dāra

ٱلْمُقَامَةِ

(of) Eternity

l-muqāmati

مِن

(out) of

min

فَضْلِهِۦ

His Bounty

faḍlihi

لَا

Not

يَمَسُّنَا

touches us

yamassunā

فِيهَا

therein

fīhā

نَصَبٌۭ

any fatigue

naṣabun

وَلَا

and not

walā

يَمَسُّنَا

touches

yamassunā

فِيهَا

therein

fīhā

لُغُوبٌۭ

weariness

lughūbun

٣٥

He who has settled us in the home of duration [i.e., Paradise] out of His bounty. There touches us not in it any fatigue, and there touches us not in it weariness [of mind]."

— Saheeh International

وَٱلَّذِينَ

And those who

wa-alladhīna

كَفَرُوا۟

disbelieve

kafarū

لَهُمْ

for them

lahum

نَارُ

(will be the) Fire

nāru

جَهَنَّمَ

(of) Hell

jahannama

لَا

Not

يُقْضَىٰ

is decreed

yuq'ḍā

عَلَيْهِمْ

for them

ʿalayhim

فَيَمُوتُوا۟

that they die

fayamūtū

وَلَا

and not

walā

يُخَفَّفُ

will be lightened

yukhaffafu

عَنْهُم

for them

ʿanhum

مِّنْ

of

min

عَذَابِهَا ۚ

its torment

ʿadhābihā

كَذَٰلِكَ

Thus

kadhālika

نَجْزِى

We recompense

najzī

كُلَّ

every

kulla

كَفُورٍۢ

ungrateful one

kafūrin

٣٦

And for those who disbelieve will be the fire of Hell. [Death] is not decreed for them1 so they may die, nor will its torment be lightened for them. Thus do We recompense every ungrateful one.

— Saheeh International

وَهُمْ

And they

wahum

يَصْطَرِخُونَ

will cry

yaṣṭarikhūna

فِيهَا

therein

fīhā

رَبَّنَآ

Our Lord

rabbanā

أَخْرِجْنَا

Bring us out

akhrij'nā

نَعْمَلْ

we will do

naʿmal

صَـٰلِحًا

righteous (deeds)

ṣāliḥan

غَيْرَ

other than

ghayra

ٱلَّذِى

(that) which

alladhī

كُنَّا

we used

kunnā

نَعْمَلُ ۚ

(to) do

naʿmalu

أَوَلَمْ

Did not

awalam

نُعَمِّرْكُم

We give you life long enough

nuʿammir'kum

مَّا

that

يَتَذَكَّرُ

(would) receive admonition

yatadhakkaru

فِيهِ

therein

fīhi

مَن

whoever

man

تَذَكَّرَ

receives admonition

tadhakkara

وَجَآءَكُمُ

And came to you

wajāakumu

ٱلنَّذِيرُ ۖ

the warner

l-nadhīru

فَذُوقُوا۟

So taste

fadhūqū

فَمَا

then not

famā

لِلظَّـٰلِمِينَ

(is) for the wrongdoers

lilẓẓālimīna

مِن

any

min

نَّصِيرٍ

helper

naṣīrin

٣٧

And they will cry out therein, "Our Lord, remove us;1 we will do righteousness - other than what we were doing!" But did We not grant you life enough for whoever would remember therein to remember, and the warner had come to you? So taste [the punishment], for there is not for the wrongdoers any helper.

— Saheeh International

إِنَّ

Indeed

inna

ٱللَّهَ

Allah

l-laha

عَـٰلِمُ

(is the) Knower

ʿālimu

غَيْبِ

(of the) unseen

ghaybi

ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ

(of) the heavens

l-samāwāti

وَٱلْأَرْضِ ۚ

and the earth

wal-arḍi

إِنَّهُۥ

Indeed, He

innahu

عَلِيمٌۢ

(is the) All-Knower

ʿalīmun

بِذَاتِ

of what (is) in the breasts

bidhāti

ٱلصُّدُورِ

of what (is) in the breasts

l-ṣudūri

٣٨

Indeed, Allāh is Knower of the unseen [aspects] of the heavens and earth. Indeed, He is Knowing of that within the breasts.

— Saheeh International

هُوَ

He

huwa

ٱلَّذِى

(is) the One Who

alladhī

جَعَلَكُمْ

made you

jaʿalakum

خَلَـٰٓئِفَ

successors

khalāifa

فِى

in

ٱلْأَرْضِ ۚ

the earth

l-arḍi

فَمَن

And whoever

faman

كَفَرَ

disbelieves

kafara

فَعَلَيْهِ

then upon him

faʿalayhi

كُفْرُهُۥ ۖ

(is) his disbelief

kuf'ruhu

وَلَا

And not

walā

يَزِيدُ

increase

yazīdu

ٱلْكَـٰفِرِينَ

the disbelievers

l-kāfirīna

كُفْرُهُمْ

their disbelief

kuf'ruhum

عِندَ

near

ʿinda

رَبِّهِمْ

their Lord

rabbihim

إِلَّا

except

illā

مَقْتًۭا ۖ

(in) hatred

maqtan

وَلَا

and not

walā

يَزِيدُ

increase

yazīdu

ٱلْكَـٰفِرِينَ

the disbelievers

l-kāfirīna

كُفْرُهُمْ

their disbelief

kuf'ruhum

إِلَّا

except

illā

خَسَارًۭا

(in) loss

khasāran

٣٩

It is He who has made you successors upon the earth. And whoever disbelieves - upon him will be [the consequence of] his disbelief. And the disbelief of the disbelievers does not increase them in the sight of their Lord except in hatred; and the disbelief of the disbelievers does not increase them except in loss.

— Saheeh International

قُلْ

Say

qul

أَرَءَيْتُمْ

Have you seen

ara-aytum

شُرَكَآءَكُمُ

your partners

shurakāakumu

ٱلَّذِينَ

those whom

alladhīna

تَدْعُونَ

you call

tadʿūna

مِن

besides

min

دُونِ

besides

dūni

ٱللَّهِ

Allah

l-lahi

أَرُونِى

Show Me

arūnī

مَاذَا

what

mādhā

خَلَقُوا۟

they have created

khalaqū

مِنَ

from

mina

ٱلْأَرْضِ

the earth

l-arḍi

أَمْ

or

am

لَهُمْ

for them

lahum

شِرْكٌۭ

(is) a share

shir'kun

فِى

in

ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ

the heavens

l-samāwāti

أَمْ

Or

am

ءَاتَيْنَـٰهُمْ

have We given them

ātaynāhum

كِتَـٰبًۭا

a Book

kitāban

فَهُمْ

so they

fahum

عَلَىٰ

(are) on

ʿalā

بَيِّنَتٍۢ

a clear proof

bayyinatin

مِّنْهُ ۚ

therefrom

min'hu

بَلْ

Nay

bal

إِن

not

in

يَعِدُ

promise

yaʿidu

ٱلظَّـٰلِمُونَ

the wrongdoers

l-ẓālimūna

بَعْضُهُم

some of them

baʿḍuhum

بَعْضًا

(to) others

baʿḍan

إِلَّا

except

illā

غُرُورًا

delusion

ghurūran

٤٠

Say, "Have you considered1 your 'partners' whom you invoke besides Allāh? Show me what they have created from the earth, or have they partnership [with Him] in the heavens? Or have We given them a book so they are [standing] on evidence therefrom? [No], rather, the wrongdoers do not promise each other except delusion."2

— Saheeh International

۞ إِنَّ

Indeed

inna

ٱللَّهَ

Allah

l-laha

يُمْسِكُ

upholds

yum'siku

ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ

the heavens

l-samāwāti

وَٱلْأَرْضَ

and the earth

wal-arḍa

أَن

lest

an

تَزُولَا ۚ

they cease

tazūlā

وَلَئِن

And if

wala-in

زَالَتَآ

they should cease

zālatā

إِنْ

not

in

أَمْسَكَهُمَا

can uphold them

amsakahumā

مِنْ

any

min

أَحَدٍۢ

one

aḥadin

مِّنۢ

after Him

min

بَعْدِهِۦٓ ۚ

after Him

baʿdihi

إِنَّهُۥ

Indeed, He

innahu

كَانَ

is

kāna

حَلِيمًا

Most Forbearing

ḥalīman

غَفُورًۭا

Oft-Forgiving

ghafūran

٤١

Indeed, Allāh holds the heavens and the earth, lest they cease. And if they should cease, no one could hold them [in place] after Him. Indeed, He is Forbearing1 and Forgiving.

— Saheeh International

وَأَقْسَمُوا۟

And they swore

wa-aqsamū

بِٱللَّهِ

by Allah

bil-lahi

جَهْدَ

(the) strongest

jahda

أَيْمَـٰنِهِمْ

(of) their oaths

aymānihim

لَئِن

that if

la-in

جَآءَهُمْ

came to them

jāahum

نَذِيرٌۭ

a warner

nadhīrun

لَّيَكُونُنَّ

surely, they would be

layakūnunna

أَهْدَىٰ

more guided

ahdā

مِنْ

than

min

إِحْدَى

any

iḥ'dā

ٱلْأُمَمِ ۖ

(of) the nations

l-umami

فَلَمَّا

But when

falammā

جَآءَهُمْ

came to them

jāahum

نَذِيرٌۭ

a warner

nadhīrun

مَّا

not

زَادَهُمْ

it increased them

zādahum

إِلَّا

but

illā

نُفُورًا

(in) aversion

nufūran

٤٢

And they swore by Allāh their strongest oaths that if a warner came to them, they would be more guided than [any] one of the [previous] nations. But when a warner came to them, it did not increase them except in aversion

— Saheeh International

ٱسْتِكْبَارًۭا

(Due to) arrogance

is'tik'bāran

فِى

in

ٱلْأَرْضِ

the land

l-arḍi

وَمَكْرَ

and plotting

wamakra

ٱلسَّيِّئِ ۚ

(of) the evil

l-sayi-i

وَلَا

but not

walā

يَحِيقُ

encompasses

yaḥīqu

ٱلْمَكْرُ

the plot

l-makru

ٱلسَّيِّئُ

(of) the evil

l-sayi-u

إِلَّا

except

illā

بِأَهْلِهِۦ ۚ

its own people

bi-ahlihi

فَهَلْ

Then do

fahal

يَنظُرُونَ

they wait

yanẓurūna

إِلَّا

except

illā

سُنَّتَ

(the) way

sunnata

ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ ۚ

(of) the former (people)

l-awalīna

فَلَن

But never

falan

تَجِدَ

you will find

tajida

لِسُنَّتِ

in (the) way

lisunnati

ٱللَّهِ

(of) Allah

l-lahi

تَبْدِيلًۭا ۖ

any change

tabdīlan

وَلَن

and never

walan

تَجِدَ

you will find

tajida

لِسُنَّتِ

in (the) way

lisunnati

ٱللَّهِ

(of) Allah

l-lahi

تَحْوِيلًا

any alteration

taḥwīlan

٤٣

[Due to] arrogance in the land and plotting of evil; but the evil plot does not encompass except its own people. Then do they await except the way [i.e., fate] of the former peoples? But you will never find in the way [i.e., established method] of Allāh any change, and you will never find in the way of Allāh1 any alteration.2

— Saheeh International

أَوَلَمْ

Have they not

awalam

يَسِيرُوا۟

traveled

yasīrū

فِى

in

ٱلْأَرْضِ

the land

l-arḍi

فَيَنظُرُوا۟

and seen

fayanẓurū

كَيْفَ

how

kayfa

كَانَ

was

kāna

عَـٰقِبَةُ

(the) end

ʿāqibatu

ٱلَّذِينَ

(of) those who

alladhīna

مِن

(were) before them

min

قَبْلِهِمْ

(were) before them

qablihim

وَكَانُوٓا۟

And they were

wakānū

أَشَدَّ

stronger

ashadda

مِنْهُمْ

than them

min'hum

قُوَّةًۭ ۚ

(in) power

quwwatan

وَمَا

But not

wamā

كَانَ

is

kāna

ٱللَّهُ

Allah

l-lahu

لِيُعْجِزَهُۥ

that can escape (from) Him

liyuʿ'jizahu

مِن

any

min

شَىْءٍۢ

thing

shayin

فِى

in

ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ

the heavens

l-samāwāti

وَلَا

and not

walā

فِى

in

ٱلْأَرْضِ ۚ

the earth

l-arḍi

إِنَّهُۥ

Indeed, He

innahu

كَانَ

is

kāna

عَلِيمًۭا

All-Knower

ʿalīman

قَدِيرًۭا

All-Powerful

qadīran

٤٤

Have they not traveled through the land and observed how was the end of those before them? And they were greater than them in power. But Allāh is not to be caused failure [i.e., prevented] by anything in the heavens or on the earth. Indeed, He is ever Knowing and Competent.

— Saheeh International

وَلَوْ

And if

walaw

يُؤَاخِذُ

Allah (were to) punish

yuākhidhu

ٱللَّهُ

Allah (were to) punish

l-lahu

ٱلنَّاسَ

the people

l-nāsa

بِمَا

for what

bimā

كَسَبُوا۟

they have earned

kasabū

مَا

not

تَرَكَ

He would leave

taraka

عَلَىٰ

on

ʿalā

ظَهْرِهَا

its back

ẓahrihā

مِن

any

min

دَآبَّةٍۢ

creature

dābbatin

وَلَـٰكِن

But

walākin

يُؤَخِّرُهُمْ

He gives them respite

yu-akhiruhum

إِلَىٰٓ

till

ilā

أَجَلٍۢ

a term

ajalin

مُّسَمًّۭى ۖ

appointed

musamman

فَإِذَا

And when

fa-idhā

جَآءَ

comes

jāa

أَجَلُهُمْ

their term

ajaluhum

فَإِنَّ

then indeed

fa-inna

ٱللَّهَ

Allah

l-laha

كَانَ

is

kāna

بِعِبَادِهِۦ

of His slaves

biʿibādihi

بَصِيرًۢا

All-Seer

baṣīran

٤٥

And if Allāh were to impose blame on the people for what they have earned, He would not leave upon it [i.e., the earth] any creature. But He defers them for a specified term. And when their time comes, then indeed Allāh has ever been, of His servants, Seeing.

— Saheeh International
