ٱلْحَمْدُ All praises al-ḥamdu (be) to Allah lillahi Originator fāṭiri (of) the heavens l-samāwāti and the earth wal-arḍi (Who) makes jāʿili the Angels l-malāikati messengers rusulan having wings ulī having wings ajniḥatin two mathnā or three wathulātha or four warubāʿa He increases yazīdu in fī the creation l-khalqi what mā He wills yashāu Indeed inna Allah l-laha (is) on ʿalā every kulli thing shayin All-Powerful qadīrun
[All] praise is [due] to Allāh, Creator of the heavens and the earth, [who] made the angels messengers having wings, two or three or four. He increases in creation what He wills. Indeed, Allāh is over all things competent.
مَّا What mā Allah grants yaftaḥi Allah grants l-lahu to mankind lilnnāsi of min Mercy raḥmatin then none falā (can) withhold mum'sika it lahā And what wamā He withholds yum'sik then none falā (can) release mur'sila it lahu thereafter min thereafter baʿdihi And He wahuwa (is) the All-Mighty l-ʿazīzu the All-Wise l-ḥakīmu
Whatever Allāh grants to people of mercy - none can withhold it; and whatever He withholds - none can release it thereafter. And He is the Exalted in Might, the Wise.
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا O yāayyuhā mankind l-nāsu Remember udh'kurū (the) Favor niʿ'mata (of) Allah l-lahi upon you ʿalaykum Is hal (there) any min creator khāliqin other (than) Allah ghayru other (than) Allah l-lahi who provides for you yarzuqukum from mina the sky l-samāi and the earth wal-arḍi (There is) no lā god ilāha but illā He huwa Then, how fa-annā (are) you deluded tu'fakūna
O mankind, remember the favor of Allāh upon you. Is there any creator other than Allāh who provides for you from the heaven and earth? There is no deity except Him, so how are you deluded?
وَإِن And if wa-in they deny you yukadhibūka then certainly faqad were denied kudhibat Messengers rusulun before you min before you qablika And to wa-ilā Allah l-lahi return tur'jaʿu the matters l-umūru
And if they deny you, [O Muḥammad] - already were messengers denied before you. And to Allāh are returned [all] matters.
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا O yāayyuhā mankind l-nāsu Indeed inna (the) promise waʿda (of) Allah l-lahi (is) true ḥaqqun So (let) not falā deceive you taghurrannakumu the life l-ḥayatu (of) the world l-dun'yā and (let) not walā deceive you yaghurrannakum about Allah bil-lahi the Deceiver l-gharūru
O mankind, indeed the promise of Allāh is truth, so let not the worldly life delude you and be not deceived about Allāh by the Deceiver [i.e., Satan].
إِنَّ Indeed inna the Shaitaan l-shayṭāna (is) to you lakum an enemy ʿaduwwun so take him fa-ittakhidhūhu (as) an enemy ʿaduwwan Only innamā he invites yadʿū his party ḥiz'bahu that they may be liyakūnū among min (the) companions aṣḥābi (of) the Blaze l-saʿīri
Indeed, Satan is an enemy to you; so take him as an enemy. He only invites his party to be among the companions of the Blaze.
ٱلَّذِينَ Those who alladhīna disbelieve kafarū for them lahum (will be) a punishment ʿadhābun severe shadīdun and those wa-alladhīna who believe āmanū and do waʿamilū righteous deeds l-ṣāliḥāti for them lahum (will be) forgiveness maghfiratun and a reward wa-ajrun great kabīrun
Those who disbelieve will have a severe punishment, and those who believe and do righteous deeds will have forgiveness and great reward.
أَفَمَن Then is (he) who afaman is made fair-seeming zuyyina to him lahu (the) evil sūu (of) his deed ʿamalihi so that he sees it faraāhu (as) good ḥasanan For indeed fa-inna Allah l-laha lets go astray yuḍillu whom man He wills yashāu and guides wayahdī whom man He wills yashāu So (let) not falā go out tadhhab your soul nafsuka for them ʿalayhim (in) regrets ḥasarātin Indeed inna Allah l-laha (is) All-Knower ʿalīmun of what bimā they do yaṣnaʿūna
Then is one to whom the evil of his deed has been made attractive so he considers it good [like one rightly guided]? For indeed, Allāh sends astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. So do not let yourself perish over them in regret. Indeed, Allāh is Knowing of what they do.
وَٱللَّهُ And Allah wal-lahu (is) the One Who alladhī sends arsala the winds l-riyāḥa so that they raise fatuthīru (the) clouds saḥāban and We drive them fasuq'nāhu to ilā a land baladin dead mayyitin and We revive fa-aḥyaynā therewith bihi the earth l-arḍa after baʿda its death mawtihā Thus kadhālika (will be) the Resurrection l-nushūru
And it is Allāh who sends the winds, and they stir the clouds, and We drive them to a dead land and give life thereby to the earth after its lifelessness. Thus is the resurrection.
مَن Whoever man [is] desires kāna [is] desires yurīdu the honor l-ʿizata then for Allah falillahi (is) the Honor l-ʿizatu all jamīʿan To Him ilayhi ascends yaṣʿadu the words l-kalimu good l-ṭayibu and the deed wal-ʿamalu righteous l-ṣāliḥu raises it yarfaʿuhu But those who wa-alladhīna plot yamkurūna the evil l-sayiāti for them lahum (is) a punishment ʿadhābun severe shadīdun and (the) plotting wamakru (of) those ulāika it huwa (will) perish yabūru
Whoever desires honor [through power] - then to Allāh belongs all honor.1 To Him ascends good speech, and righteous work raises it.2 But they who plot evil deeds will have a severe punishment, and the plotting of those - it will perish.
وَٱللَّهُ And Allah wal-lahu created you khalaqakum from min dust turābin then thumma from min a semen-drop nuṭ'fatin then thumma He made you jaʿalakum pairs azwājan And not wamā conceives taḥmilu any min female unthā and not walā gives birth taḍaʿu except illā with His knowledge biʿil'mihi And not wamā is granted life yuʿammaru any min aged person muʿammarin and not walā is lessened yunqaṣu from min his life ʿumurihi but illā (is) in fī a Register kitābin Indeed inna that dhālika for ʿalā Allah l-lahi (is) easy yasīrun
And Allāh created you from dust, then from a sperm-drop; then He made you mates. And no female conceives nor does she give birth except with His knowledge. And no aged person is granted [additional] life nor is his lifespan lessened but that it is in a register. Indeed, that for Allāh is easy.
وَمَا And not wamā are alike yastawī the two seas l-baḥrāni This hādhā (is) fresh ʿadhbun sweet furātun pleasant sāighun its drink sharābuhu and this wahādhā salty mil'ḥun (and) bitter ujājun And from wamin each kullin you eat takulūna meat laḥman fresh ṭariyyan and you extract watastakhrijūna ornaments ḥil'yatan you wear them talbasūnahā and you see watarā the ships l-ful'ka in it fīhi cleaving mawākhira so that you may seek litabtaghū of min His Bounty faḍlihi and that you may walaʿallakum be grateful tashkurūna
And not alike are the two seas [i.e., bodies of water]. One is fresh and sweet, palatable for drinking, and one is salty and bitter. And from each you eat tender meat and extract ornaments which you wear, and you see the ships plowing through [them] that you might seek of His bounty; and perhaps you will be grateful.
يُولِجُ He causes to enter yūliju the night al-layla in (to) fī the day l-nahāri and He causes to enter wayūliju the day l-nahāra in (to) fī the night al-layli and He has subjected wasakhara the sun l-shamsa and the moon wal-qamara each kullun running yajrī for a term li-ajalin appointed musamman That (is) dhālikumu Allah l-lahu your Lord rabbukum for Him lahu (is) the Dominion l-mul'ku And those whom wa-alladhīna you invoke tadʿūna besides Him min besides Him dūnihi not mā they possess yamlikūna even min (as much as) the membrane of a date-seed qiṭ'mīrin
He causes the night to enter the day, and He causes the day to enter the night and has subjected the sun and the moon - each running [its course] for a specified term. That is Allāh, your Lord; to Him belongs sovereignty. And those whom you invoke other than Him do not possess [as much as] the membrane of a date seed.
إِن If in you invoke them tadʿūhum not lā they hear yasmaʿū your call duʿāakum and if walaw they heard samiʿū not mā they (would) respond is'tajābū to you lakum And (on the) Day wayawma (of) the Resurrection l-qiyāmati they will deny yakfurūna your association bishir'kikum And none walā can inform you yunabbi-uka like mith'lu (the) All-Aware khabīrin
If you invoke them, they do not hear your supplication; and if they heard, they would not respond to you. And on the Day of Resurrection they will deny your association.1 And none can inform you like [one] Aware [of all matters].
۞ يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا O yāayyuhā mankind l-nāsu You antumu (are) those in need l-fuqarāu of ilā Allah l-lahi while Allah wal-lahu He huwa (is) Free of need l-ghaniyu the Praiseworthy l-ḥamīdu
O mankind, you are those in need of Allāh, while Allāh is the Free of need, the Praiseworthy.
إِن If in He wills yasha He (can) do away with you yudh'hib'kum and bring wayati in a creation bikhalqin new jadīdin
If He wills, He can do away with you and bring forth a new creation.
وَمَا And not wamā that dhālika (is) on ʿalā Allah l-lahi difficult biʿazīzin
And that is for Allāh not difficult.
وَلَا And not walā will bear taziru bearer of burdens wāziratun burden wiz'ra (of) another ukh'rā And if wa-in calls tadʿu a heavily laden muth'qalatun to ilā (carry) its load ḥim'lihā not lā will be carried yuḥ'mal of it min'hu anything shayon even if walaw he be kāna near of kin dhā near of kin qur'bā Only innamā you can warn tundhiru those who alladhīna fear yakhshawna their Lord rabbahum unseen bil-ghaybi and establish wa-aqāmū the prayer l-ṣalata And whoever waman purifies himself tazakkā then only fa-innamā he purifies yatazakkā for his own self linafsihi And to wa-ilā Allah l-lahi (is) the destination l-maṣīru
And no bearer of burdens will bear the burden of another. And if a heavily laden soul calls [another] to [carry some of] its load, nothing of it will be carried, even if he should be a close relative. You can only warn those who fear their Lord unseen and have established prayer. And whoever purifies himself only purifies himself for [the benefit of] his soul. And to Allāh is the [final] destination.
وَمَا And not wamā equal yastawī (are) the blind l-aʿmā and the seeing wal-baṣīru
Not equal are the blind and the seeing,
وَلَا And not walā the darkness[es] l-ẓulumātu and not walā [the] light l-nūru
Nor are the darknesses and the light,
وَلَا And not walā the shade l-ẓilu and not walā the heat l-ḥarūru
Nor are the shade and the heat,1
وَمَا And not wamā equal yastawī (are) the living l-aḥyāu and not walā the dead l-amwātu Indeed inna Allah l-laha causes to hear yus'miʿu whom man He wills yashāu and not wamā you anta can make hear bimus'miʿin (those) who man (are) in fī the graves l-qubūri
And not equal are the living and the dead. Indeed, Allāh causes to hear whom He wills, but you cannot make hear those in the graves.1
إِنْ Not in you (are) anta but illā a warner nadhīrun
You, [O Muḥammad], are not but a warner.
إِنَّآ Indeed, We innā [We] have sent you arsalnāka with the truth bil-ḥaqi (as) a bearer of glad tidings bashīran and (as) a warner wanadhīran And not wa-in (was) any min nation ummatin but illā had passed khalā within it fīhā a warner nadhīrun
Indeed, We have sent you with the truth as a bringer of good tidings and a warner. And there was no nation but that there had passed within it a warner.
وَإِن And if wa-in they deny you yukadhibūka then certainly faqad denied kadhaba those who alladhīna (were) before them min (were) before them qablihim Came to them jāathum their Messengers rusuluhum with clear signs bil-bayināti and with Scriptures wabil-zuburi and with the Book wabil-kitābi [the] enlightening l-munīri
And if they deny you - then already have those before them denied. Their messengers came to them with clear proofs and written ordinances and with the enlightening Scripture.
ثُمَّ Then thumma I seized akhadhtu those who alladhīna disbelieved kafarū and how fakayfa was kāna My rejection nakīri
Then I seized the ones who disbelieved, and how [terrible] was My reproach.
أَلَمْ Do not alam you see tara that anna Allah l-laha sends down anzala from mina the sky l-samāi water māan then We bring forth fa-akhrajnā therewith bihi fruits thamarātin (of) various mukh'talifan [their] colors alwānuhā And in wamina the mountains l-jibāli (are) tracts judadun white bīḍun and red waḥum'run (of) various mukh'talifun [their] colors alwānuhā and intensely black wagharābību and intensely black sūdun
Do you not see that Allāh sends down rain from the sky, and We produce thereby fruits of varying colors? And in the mountains are tracts, white and red of varying shades and [some] extremely black.
وَمِنَ And among wamina men l-nāsi and moving creatures wal-dawābi and the cattle wal-anʿāmi (are) various mukh'talifun [their] colors alwānuhu likewise kadhālika Only innamā fear yakhshā Allah l-laha among min His slaves ʿibādihi those who have knowledge l-ʿulamāu Indeed inna Allah l-laha (is) All-Mighty ʿazīzun Oft-Forgiving ghafūrun
And among people and moving creatures and grazing livestock are various colors similarly. Only those fear Allāh, from among His servants, who have knowledge. Indeed, Allāh is Exalted in Might and Forgiving.
إِنَّ Indeed inna those who alladhīna recite yatlūna (the) Book kitāba (of) Allah l-lahi and establish wa-aqāmū the prayer l-ṣalata and spend wa-anfaqū out of what mimmā We have provided them razaqnāhum secretly sirran and openly waʿalāniyatan hope yarjūna (for) a commerce tijāratan never lan it will perish tabūra
Indeed, those who recite the Book of Allāh and establish prayer and spend [in His cause] out of what We have provided them, secretly and publicly, [can] expect a transaction [i.e., profit] that will never perish -
لِيُوَفِّيَهُمْ That He may give them in full liyuwaffiyahum their rewards ujūrahum and increase for them wayazīdahum of min His Bounty faḍlihi Indeed, He innahu (is) Oft-Forgiving ghafūrun Most Appreciative shakūrun
That He may give them in full their rewards and increase for them of His bounty. Indeed, He is Forgiving and Appreciative.1
وَٱلَّذِىٓ And (that) which wa-alladhī We have revealed awḥaynā to you ilayka of mina the Book l-kitābi it huwa (is) the truth l-ḥaqu confirming muṣaddiqan what (was) limā before it bayna before it yadayhi Indeed inna Allah l-laha of His slaves biʿibādihi surely, (is) All-Aware lakhabīrun All-Seer baṣīrun
And that which We have revealed to you, [O Muḥammad], of the Book is the truth, confirming what was before it. Indeed Allāh, of His servants, is Aware and Seeing.
ثُمَّ Then thumma We caused to inherit awrathnā the Book l-kitāba those whom alladhīna We have chosen iṣ'ṭafaynā of min Our slaves ʿibādinā and among them famin'hum (is he) who wrongs ẓālimun himself linafsihi and among them wamin'hum (is he who is) moderate muq'taṣidun and among them wamin'hum (is he who is) foremost sābiqun in good deeds bil-khayrāti by permission bi-idh'ni (of) Allah l-lahi That dhālika is huwa the Bounty l-faḍlu the great l-kabīru
Then We caused to inherit the Book those We have chosen of Our servants;1 and among them is he who wrongs himself [i.e., sins], and among them is he who is moderate, and among them is he who is foremost in good deeds by permission of Allāh. That [inheritance] is what is the great bounty.
جَنَّـٰتُ Gardens jannātu (of) Eternity ʿadnin they will enter them yadkhulūnahā They will be adorned yuḥallawna therein fīhā with min bracelets asāwira of min gold dhahabin and pearls walu'lu-an and their garments walibāsuhum therein fīhā (will be of) silk ḥarīrun
[For them are] gardens of perpetual residence which they will enter. They will be adorned therein with bracelets of gold and pearls, and their garments therein will be silk.
وَقَالُوا۟ And they (will) say waqālū All praises l-ḥamdu (be) to Allah lillahi the One Who alladhī (has) removed adhhaba from us ʿannā the sorrow l-ḥazana Indeed inna our Lord rabbanā (is) surely Oft-Forgiving laghafūrun Most Appreciative shakūrun
And they will say, "Praise to Allāh, who has removed from us [all] sorrow. Indeed, our Lord is Forgiving and Appreciative -
ٱلَّذِىٓ The One Who alladhī has settled us aḥallanā (in) a Home dāra (of) Eternity l-muqāmati (out) of min His Bounty faḍlihi Not lā touches us yamassunā therein fīhā any fatigue naṣabun and not walā touches yamassunā therein fīhā weariness lughūbun
He who has settled us in the home of duration [i.e., Paradise] out of His bounty. There touches us not in it any fatigue, and there touches us not in it weariness [of mind]."
وَٱلَّذِينَ And those who wa-alladhīna disbelieve kafarū for them lahum (will be the) Fire nāru (of) Hell jahannama Not lā is decreed yuq'ḍā for them ʿalayhim that they die fayamūtū and not walā will be lightened yukhaffafu for them ʿanhum of min its torment ʿadhābihā Thus kadhālika We recompense najzī every kulla ungrateful one kafūrin
And for those who disbelieve will be the fire of Hell. [Death] is not decreed for them1 so they may die, nor will its torment be lightened for them. Thus do We recompense every ungrateful one.
وَهُمْ And they wahum will cry yaṣṭarikhūna therein fīhā Our Lord rabbanā Bring us out akhrij'nā we will do naʿmal righteous (deeds) ṣāliḥan other than ghayra (that) which alladhī we used kunnā (to) do naʿmalu Did not awalam We give you life long enough nuʿammir'kum that mā (would) receive admonition yatadhakkaru therein fīhi whoever man receives admonition tadhakkara And came to you wajāakumu the warner l-nadhīru So taste fadhūqū then not famā (is) for the wrongdoers lilẓẓālimīna any min helper naṣīrin
And they will cry out therein, "Our Lord, remove us;1 we will do righteousness - other than what we were doing!" But did We not grant you life enough for whoever would remember therein to remember, and the warner had come to you? So taste [the punishment], for there is not for the wrongdoers any helper.
إِنَّ Indeed inna Allah l-laha (is the) Knower ʿālimu (of the) unseen ghaybi (of) the heavens l-samāwāti and the earth wal-arḍi Indeed, He innahu (is the) All-Knower ʿalīmun of what (is) in the breasts bidhāti of what (is) in the breasts l-ṣudūri
Indeed, Allāh is Knower of the unseen [aspects] of the heavens and earth. Indeed, He is Knowing of that within the breasts.
هُوَ He huwa (is) the One Who alladhī made you jaʿalakum successors khalāifa in fī the earth l-arḍi And whoever faman disbelieves kafara then upon him faʿalayhi (is) his disbelief kuf'ruhu And not walā increase yazīdu the disbelievers l-kāfirīna their disbelief kuf'ruhum near ʿinda their Lord rabbihim except illā (in) hatred maqtan and not walā increase yazīdu the disbelievers l-kāfirīna their disbelief kuf'ruhum except illā (in) loss khasāran
It is He who has made you successors upon the earth. And whoever disbelieves - upon him will be [the consequence of] his disbelief. And the disbelief of the disbelievers does not increase them in the sight of their Lord except in hatred; and the disbelief of the disbelievers does not increase them except in loss.
قُلْ Say qul Have you seen ara-aytum your partners shurakāakumu those whom alladhīna you call tadʿūna besides min besides dūni Allah l-lahi Show Me arūnī what mādhā they have created khalaqū from mina the earth l-arḍi or am for them lahum (is) a share shir'kun in fī the heavens l-samāwāti Or am have We given them ātaynāhum a Book kitāban so they fahum (are) on ʿalā a clear proof bayyinatin therefrom min'hu Nay bal not in promise yaʿidu the wrongdoers l-ẓālimūna some of them baʿḍuhum (to) others baʿḍan except illā delusion ghurūran
Say, "Have you considered1 your 'partners' whom you invoke besides Allāh? Show me what they have created from the earth, or have they partnership [with Him] in the heavens? Or have We given them a book so they are [standing] on evidence therefrom? [No], rather, the wrongdoers do not promise each other except delusion."2
۞ إِنَّ Indeed inna Allah l-laha upholds yum'siku the heavens l-samāwāti and the earth wal-arḍa lest an they cease tazūlā And if wala-in they should cease zālatā not in can uphold them amsakahumā any min one aḥadin after Him min after Him baʿdihi Indeed, He innahu is kāna Most Forbearing ḥalīman Oft-Forgiving ghafūran
Indeed, Allāh holds the heavens and the earth, lest they cease. And if they should cease, no one could hold them [in place] after Him. Indeed, He is Forbearing1 and Forgiving.
وَأَقْسَمُوا۟ And they swore wa-aqsamū by Allah bil-lahi (the) strongest jahda (of) their oaths aymānihim that if la-in came to them jāahum a warner nadhīrun surely, they would be layakūnunna more guided ahdā than min any iḥ'dā (of) the nations l-umami But when falammā came to them jāahum a warner nadhīrun not mā it increased them zādahum but illā (in) aversion nufūran
And they swore by Allāh their strongest oaths that if a warner came to them, they would be more guided than [any] one of the [previous] nations. But when a warner came to them, it did not increase them except in aversion
ٱسْتِكْبَارًۭا (Due to) arrogance is'tik'bāran in fī the land l-arḍi and plotting wamakra (of) the evil l-sayi-i but not walā encompasses yaḥīqu the plot l-makru (of) the evil l-sayi-u except illā its own people bi-ahlihi Then do fahal they wait yanẓurūna except illā (the) way sunnata (of) the former (people) l-awalīna But never falan you will find tajida in (the) way lisunnati (of) Allah l-lahi any change tabdīlan and never walan you will find tajida in (the) way lisunnati (of) Allah l-lahi any alteration taḥwīlan
[Due to] arrogance in the land and plotting of evil; but the evil plot does not encompass except its own people. Then do they await except the way [i.e., fate] of the former peoples? But you will never find in the way [i.e., established method] of Allāh any change, and you will never find in the way of Allāh1 any alteration.2
أَوَلَمْ Have they not awalam traveled yasīrū in fī the land l-arḍi and seen fayanẓurū how kayfa was kāna (the) end ʿāqibatu (of) those who alladhīna (were) before them min (were) before them qablihim And they were wakānū stronger ashadda than them min'hum (in) power quwwatan But not wamā is kāna Allah l-lahu that can escape (from) Him liyuʿ'jizahu any min thing shayin in fī the heavens l-samāwāti and not walā in fī the earth l-arḍi Indeed, He innahu is kāna All-Knower ʿalīman All-Powerful qadīran
Have they not traveled through the land and observed how was the end of those before them? And they were greater than them in power. But Allāh is not to be caused failure [i.e., prevented] by anything in the heavens or on the earth. Indeed, He is ever Knowing and Competent.
وَلَوْ And if walaw Allah (were to) punish yuākhidhu Allah (were to) punish l-lahu the people l-nāsa for what bimā they have earned kasabū not mā He would leave taraka on ʿalā its back ẓahrihā any min creature dābbatin But walākin He gives them respite yu-akhiruhum till ilā a term ajalin appointed musamman And when fa-idhā comes jāa their term ajaluhum then indeed fa-inna Allah l-laha is kāna of His slaves biʿibādihi All-Seer baṣīran
And if Allāh were to impose blame on the people for what they have earned, He would not leave upon it [i.e., the earth] any creature. But He defers them for a specified term. And when their time comes, then indeed Allāh has ever been, of His servants, Seeing.
