أَفَمَن Then is one who afaman is kāna a believer mu'minan like (him) who kaman is kāna defiantly disobedient fāsiqan Not lā they are equal yastawūna
Then is one who was a believer like one who was defiantly disobedient? They are not equal.
أَمَّا As for ammā those who alladhīna believe āmanū and do waʿamilū righteous deeds l-ṣāliḥāti then for them falahum (are) Gardens jannātu (of) Refuge l-mawā (as) hospitality nuzulan for what bimā they used (to) kānū do yaʿmalūna
As for those who believed and did righteous deeds, for them will be the Gardens of Refuge as accommodation for what they used to do.
وَأَمَّا But as for wa-ammā those who alladhīna are defiantly disobedient fasaqū then their refuge famawāhumu (is) the Fire l-nāru Every time kullamā they wish arādū to an come out yakhrujū from it min'hā they (will) be returned uʿīdū in it fīhā and it (will) be said waqīla to them lahum Taste dhūqū (the) punishment ʿadhāba (of) the Fire l-nāri which alladhī you used (to) kuntum [in it] bihi deny tukadhibūna
But as for those who defiantly disobeyed, their refuge is the Fire. Every time they wish to emerge from it, they will be returned to it while it is said to them, "Taste the punishment of the Fire which you used to deny."
وَلَنُذِيقَنَّهُم And surely, We will let them taste walanudhīqannahum of mina the punishment l-ʿadhābi the nearer l-adnā before dūna the punishment l-ʿadhābi the greater l-akbari so that they may laʿallahum return yarjiʿūna
And We will surely let them taste the nearer punishment short of the greater punishment that perhaps they will return [i.e., repent].
وَمَنْ And who waman (is) more unjust aẓlamu than (he) who mimman is reminded dhukkira of (the) Verses biāyāti (of) his Lord rabbihi then thumma he turns away aʿraḍa from them ʿanhā Indeed, We innā from mina the criminals l-muj'rimīna (will) take retribution muntaqimūna
And who is more unjust than one who is reminded of the verses of his Lord; then he turns away from them? Indeed We, from the criminals, will take retribution.
