يَـٰبُنَىَّ O my son yābunayya Indeed it innahā if in it be taku (the) weight mith'qāla (of) a grain ḥabbatin of min a mustard seed khardalin and it be fatakun in fī a rock ṣakhratin or aw in fī the heavens l-samāwāti or aw in fī the earth l-arḍi Allah will bring it forth yati Allah will bring it forth bihā Allah will bring it forth l-lahu Indeed inna Allah l-laha (is) All-Subtle laṭīfun All-Aware khabīrun
[And Luqmān said], "O my son, indeed if it [i.e., a wrong] should be the weight of a mustard seed and should be within a rock or [anywhere] in the heavens or in the earth, Allāh will bring it forth. Indeed, Allāh is Subtle and Aware.
يَـٰبُنَىَّ O my son yābunayya Establish aqimi the prayer l-ṣalata and enjoin wamur [with] the right bil-maʿrūfi and forbid wa-in'ha from ʿani the wrong l-munkari and be patient wa-iṣ'bir over ʿalā what mā befalls you aṣābaka Indeed inna that dhālika (is) of min the matters requiring determination ʿazmi the matters requiring determination l-umūri
O my son, establish prayer, enjoin what is right, forbid what is wrong, and be patient over what befalls you. Indeed, [all] that is of the matters [requiring] resolve.
وَلَا And (do) not walā turn tuṣaʿʿir your cheek khaddaka from men lilnnāsi and (do) not walā walk tamshi in fī the earth l-arḍi exultantly maraḥan Indeed inna Allah l-laha (does) not lā like yuḥibbu every kulla self-conceited mukh'tālin boaster fakhūrin
And do not turn your cheek [in contempt] toward people and do not walk through the earth exultantly. Indeed, Allāh does not like everyone self-deluded and boastful.
وَٱقْصِدْ And be moderate wa-iq'ṣid in fī your pace mashyika and lower wa-ugh'ḍuḍ [of] min your voice ṣawtika Indeed inna (the) harshest ankara (of all) sounds l-aṣwāti (is) surely (the) voice laṣawtu (of) the donkeys l-ḥamīri
And be moderate in your pace and lower your voice; indeed, the most disagreeable of sounds is the voice of donkeys."
