إِذْ When idh [she] said qālati (the) wife im'ra-atu (of) Imran ʿim'rāna My Lord rabbi Indeed, I innī [I] vowed nadhartu to You laka what mā (is) in fī my womb baṭnī dedicated muḥarraran so accept fataqabbal from me minnī Indeed, You innaka You anta (are) the All-Hearing l-samīʿu the All-Knowing l-ʿalīmu
[Mention, O Muḥammad], when the wife of ʿImrān said, "My Lord, indeed I have pledged to You what is in my womb, consecrated [for Your service], so accept this from me. Indeed, You are the Hearing, the Knowing."
فَلَمَّا Then when falammā she delivered her waḍaʿathā she said qālat My Lord rabbi indeed I innī [I] (have) delivered [her] waḍaʿtuhā a female unthā And Allah wal-lahu knows better aʿlamu [of] what bimā she delivered waḍaʿat and is not walaysa the male l-dhakaru like the female kal-unthā And that I wa-innī [I] (have) named her sammaytuhā Maryam maryama and that I wa-innī [I] seek refuge for her uʿīdhuhā in You bika and her offspring wadhurriyyatahā from mina the Shaitaan l-shayṭāni the rejected l-rajīmi
But when she delivered her, she said, "My Lord, I have delivered a female." And Allāh was most knowing of what she delivered, and the male is not like the female. "And I have named her Mary, and I seek refuge for her in You and [for] her descendants from Satan, the expelled [from the mercy of Allāh]."
