وَإِذْ And when wa-idh you left early morning ghadawta from min your household ahlika to post tubawwi-u the believers l-mu'minīna (to take) positions maqāʿida for the battle lil'qitāli And Allah wal-lahu (is) All-Hearing samīʿun All-Knowing ʿalīmun
And [remember] when you, [O Muḥammad], left your family in the morning to post the believers at their stations for the battle [of Uḥud] - and Allāh is Hearing and Knowing -
إِذْ When idh inclined hammat two parties ṭāifatāni among you minkum that an they lost heart tafshalā but Allah wal-lahu (was) their protector waliyyuhumā And on waʿalā Allah l-lahi let put (their) trust falyatawakkali the believers l-mu'minūna
When two parties among you were about to lose courage, but Allāh was their ally; and upon Allāh the believers should rely.
وَلَقَدْ And certainly walaqad helped you naṣarakumu Allah l-lahu in Badr bibadrin while you (were) wa-antum weak adhillatun So fear fa-ittaqū Allah l-laha so that you may laʿallakum (be) grateful tashkurūna
And already had Allāh given you victory at [the battle of] Badr while you were weak [i.e., few in number]. Then fear Allāh; perhaps you will be grateful.
