۞ لَيْسُوا۟ They are not laysū (the) same sawāan among min (the) People ahli (of) the Book l-kitābi (is) a community ummatun standing qāimatun (and) reciting yatlūna (the) Verses āyāti (of) Allah l-lahi (in the) hours ānāa (of) the night al-layli and they wahum prostrate yasjudūna
They are not [all] the same; among the People of the Scripture is a community standing [in obedience], reciting the verses of Allāh during periods of the night and prostrating [in prayer].
يُؤْمِنُونَ They believe yu'minūna in Allah bil-lahi and the Day wal-yawmi the Last l-ākhiri and they enjoin wayamurūna [with] the right bil-maʿrūfi and forbid wayanhawna [from] ʿani the wrong l-munkari and they hasten wayusāriʿūna in fī the good deeds l-khayrāti And those wa-ulāika (are) from mina the righteous l-ṣāliḥīna
They believe in Allāh and the Last Day, and they enjoin what is right and forbid what is wrong and hasten to good deeds. And those are among the righteous.
وَمَا And whatever wamā they do yafʿalū of min a good khayrin then never falan will they be denied it yuk'farūhu And Allah wal-lahu (is) All-Knowing ʿalīmun of the God-fearing bil-mutaqīna
And whatever good they do - never will it be denied them. And Allāh is Knowing of the righteous.
إِنَّ Indeed inna those who alladhīna disbelieved kafarū never lan will avail tugh'niya [for] them ʿanhum their wealth amwāluhum and not walā their children awlāduhum against mina Allah l-lahi anything shayan and those wa-ulāika (are the) companions aṣḥābu (of) the Fire l-nāri they hum in it fīhā (will) abide forever khālidūna
Indeed, those who disbelieve - never will their wealth or their children avail them against Allāh at all, and those are the companions of the Fire; they will abide therein eternally.
مَثَلُ Example mathalu (of) what mā they spend yunfiqūna in fī this hādhihi [the] life l-ḥayati (of) the world l-dun'yā (is) like (the) example kamathali (of) a wind rīḥin in it fīhā (is) frost ṣirrun it struck aṣābat (the) harvest ḥartha (of) a people qawmin who wronged ẓalamū themselves anfusahum then destroyed it fa-ahlakathu And not wamā (has) wronged them ẓalamahumu Allah l-lahu [and] but walākin themselves anfusahum they wronged yaẓlimūna
The example of what they spend in this worldly life is like that of a wind containing frost which strikes the harvest of a people who have wronged themselves [i.e., sinned] and destroys it. And Allāh has not wronged them, but they wrong themselves.
