وَلْتَكُن And let there be waltakun among you minkum [a] people ummatun inviting yadʿūna to ilā the good l-khayri [and] enjoining wayamurūna the right bil-maʿrūfi and forbidding wayanhawna from ʿani the wrong l-munkari and those wa-ulāika they humu (are) the successful ones l-muf'liḥūna
And let there be [arising] from you a nation inviting to [all that is] good, enjoining what is right and forbidding what is wrong, and those will be the successful.
وَلَا And (do) not walā be takūnū like those who ka-alladhīna became divided tafarraqū and differed wa-ikh'talafū from min after baʿdi what mā came to them jāahumu the clear proofs l-bayinātu And those wa-ulāika for them lahum (is) a punishment ʿadhābun great ʿaẓīmun
And do not be like the ones who became divided and differed after the clear proofs had come to them. And those will have a great punishment
يَوْمَ (On the) Day yawma would become white tabyaḍḍu (some) faces wujūhun and would become black wataswaddu (some) faces wujūhun As for fa-ammā those whose alladhīna turn black is'waddat [their] faces wujūhuhum Did you disbelieve akafartum after baʿda your belief īmānikum Then taste fadhūqū the punishment l-ʿadhāba for what bimā you used to kuntum disbelieve takfurūna
On the Day [some] faces will turn white and [some] faces will turn black. As for those whose faces turn black, [to them it will be said], "Did you disbelieve [i.e., reject faith] after your belief? Then taste the punishment for what you used to reject."
وَأَمَّا But as for wa-ammā those whose alladhīna turn white ib'yaḍḍat [their] faces wujūhuhum then (they will be) in fafī (the) Mercy raḥmati (of) Allah l-lahi they hum in it fīhā (will) abide forever khālidūna
But as for those whose faces turn white, [they will be] within the mercy of Allāh. They will abide therein eternally.
تِلْكَ These til'ka (are the) Verses āyātu (of) Allah l-lahi We recite them natlūhā to you ʿalayka in truth bil-ḥaqi And not wamā Allah l-lahu wants yurīdu injustice ẓul'man to the worlds lil'ʿālamīna
These are the verses of Allāh. We recite them to you, [O Muḥammad], in truth; and Allāh wants no injustice to the worlds [i.e., His creatures].
وَلِلَّهِ And to Allah (belongs) walillahi whatever mā (is) in fī the heavens l-samāwāti and whatever wamā (is) in fī the earth l-arḍi And to wa-ilā Allah l-lahi will be returned tur'jaʿu the matters l-umūru
To Allāh belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. And to Allāh will [all] matters be returned.
