وَقَالَتِ And said waqālati (the) wife im'ra-atu (of) Firaun fir'ʿawna A comfort qurratu (of the) eye ʿaynin for me lī and for you walaka (Do) not lā kill him taqtulūhu perhaps ʿasā (that) an he may benefit us yanfaʿanā or aw we may take him nattakhidhahu (as) a son waladan And they wahum (did) not lā perceive yashʿurūna
And the wife of Pharaoh said, "[He will be] a comfort of the eye [i.e., pleasure] for me and for you. Do not kill him; perhaps he may benefit us, or we may adopt him as a son." And they perceived not.1
