وَلَمَّا And when walammā he reached balagha his full strength ashuddahu and became mature wa-is'tawā We bestowed upon him ātaynāhu wisdom ḥuk'man and knowledge waʿil'man And thus wakadhālika We reward najzī the good-doers l-muḥ'sinīna
And when he attained his full strength and was [mentally] mature, We bestowed upon him judgement and knowledge. And thus do We reward the doers of good.
وَدَخَلَ And he entered wadakhala the city l-madīnata at ʿalā a time ḥīni (of) inattention ghaflatin of min its people ahlihā and found fawajada therein fīhā two men rajulayni fighting each other yaqtatilāni this hādhā of min his party shīʿatihi and this wahādhā of min his enemy ʿaduwwihi And called him for help fa-is'taghāthahu the one who alladhī (was) from min his party shīʿatihi against ʿalā the one who alladhī (was) from min his enemy ʿaduwwihi so Musa struck him with his fist fawakazahu so Musa struck him with his fist mūsā and killed him faqaḍā and killed him ʿalayhi He said qāla This (is) hādhā of min (the) deed ʿamali (of) Shaitaan l-shayṭāni Indeed, he innahu (is) an enemy ʿaduwwun one who misleads muḍillun clearly mubīnun
And he entered the city at a time of inattention by its people and found therein two men fighting: one from his faction and one from among his enemy. And the one from his faction called for help to him against the one from his enemy, so Moses struck him and [unintentionally] killed him. [Moses] said, "This is from the work of Satan. Indeed, he is a manifest, misleading enemy."
قَالَ He said qāla My Lord rabbi Indeed, I innī [I] have wronged ẓalamtu my soul nafsī so forgive fa-igh'fir [for] me lī Then He forgave faghafara [for] him lahu Indeed He innahu He (is) huwa the Oft-Forgiving l-ghafūru the Most Merciful l-raḥīmu
He said, "My Lord, indeed I have wronged myself, so forgive me," and He forgave him. Indeed, He is the Forgiving, the Merciful.
قَالَ He said qāla My Lord rabbi Because bimā You have favored anʿamta [on] me ʿalayya so not falan I will be akūna a supporter ẓahīran (of) the criminals lil'muj'rimīna
He said, "My Lord, for the favor You bestowed upon me, I will never be an assistant to the criminals."
