﷽
الفرقان
تَبَارَكَ Blessed is He tabāraka Who alladhī sent down nazzala the Criterion l-fur'qāna upon ʿalā His slave ʿabdihi that he may be liyakūna to the worlds lil'ʿālamīna a warner nadhīran
Blessed is He who sent down the Criterion upon His Servant that he may be to the worlds a warner -
ٱلَّذِى The One Who alladhī to Him (belongs) lahu (the) dominion mul'ku (of) the heavens l-samāwāti and the earth wal-arḍi and not walam He has taken yattakhidh a son waladan and not walam He has yakun for Him lahu a partner sharīkun in fī the dominion l-mul'ki and He (has) created wakhalaqa every kulla thing shayin and determined it faqaddarahu (with) determination taqdīran
He to whom belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth and who has not taken a son and has not had a partner in dominion and has created each thing and determined it with [precise] determination.
وَٱتَّخَذُوا۟ Yet they have taken wa-ittakhadhū besides Him min besides Him dūnihi gods ālihatan not lā they create yakhluqūna anything shayan while they wahum are created yukh'laqūna and not walā they possess yamlikūna for themselves li-anfusihim any harm ḍarran and not walā any benefit nafʿan and not walā they control yamlikūna death mawtan and not walā life ḥayatan and not walā resurrection nushūran
But they have taken besides Him gods which create nothing, while they are created, and possess not for themselves any harm or benefit and possess not [power to cause] death or life or resurrection.
وَقَالَ And say waqāla those who alladhīna disbelieve kafarū Not in this hādhā (is) but illā a lie if'kun he invented it if'tarāhu and helped him wa-aʿānahu at it ʿalayhi people qawmun other ākharūna But verily faqad they (have) produced jāū an injustice ẓul'man and a lie wazūran
And those who disbelieve say, "This [Qur’ān] is not except a falsehood he invented, and another people assisted him in it." But they have committed an injustice and a lie.
وَقَالُوٓا۟ And they say waqālū Tales asāṭīru (of) the former people l-awalīna which he has had written ik'tatabahā and they fahiya are dictated tum'lā to him ʿalayhi morning buk'ratan and evening wa-aṣīlan
And they say, "Legends of the former peoples which he has written down, and they are dictated to him morning and afternoon."
قُلْ Say qul Has sent it down anzalahu the One Who alladhī knows yaʿlamu the secret l-sira in fī the heavens l-samāwāti and the earth wal-arḍi Indeed, He innahu is kāna Oft-Forgiving ghafūran Most Merciful raḥīman
Say, [O Muḥammad], "It has been revealed by He who knows [every] secret within the heavens and the earth. Indeed, He is ever Forgiving and Merciful."
وَقَالُوا۟ And they say waqālū Why does māli this hādhā Messenger l-rasūli eat yakulu [the] food l-ṭaʿāma and walk wayamshī in fī the markets l-aswāqi Why not lawlā is sent down unzila to him ilayhi an Angel malakun then he be fayakūna with him maʿahu a warner nadhīran
And they say, "What is this messenger that eats food and walks in the markets? Why was there not sent down to him an angel so he would be with him a warner?
أَوْ Or aw is delivered yul'qā to him ilayhi a treasure kanzun or aw is takūnu for him lahu a garden jannatun he may eat yakulu from it min'hā And say waqāla the wrongdoers l-ẓālimūna Not in you follow tattabiʿūna but illā a man rajulan bewitched masḥūran
Or [why is not] a treasure presented to him [from heaven], or does he [not] have a garden from which he eats?" And the wrongdoers say, "You follow not but a man affected by magic."
ٱنظُرْ See unẓur how kayfa they set forth ḍarabū for you laka the similitudes l-amthāla but they have gone astray faḍallū so not falā they are able (to find) yastaṭīʿūna a way sabīlan
Look how they strike for you comparisons;1 but they have strayed, so they cannot [find] a way.
تَبَارَكَ Blessed is He tabāraka Who alladhī if in He willed shāa (could have) made jaʿala for you laka better khayran than min that dhālika gardens jannātin flow tajrī from min underneath it taḥtihā the rivers l-anhāru and He (could) make wayajʿal for you laka palaces quṣūran
Blessed is He who, if He willed, could have made for you [something] better than that - gardens beneath which rivers flow - and could make for you palaces.
بَلْ Nay bal they deny kadhabū the Hour bil-sāʿati and We have prepared wa-aʿtadnā for (those) who liman deny kadhaba the Hour bil-sāʿati a Blazing Fire saʿīran
But they have denied the Hour, and We have prepared for those who deny the Hour a Blaze.
إِذَا When idhā it sees them ra-athum from min a place makānin far baʿīdin they will hear samiʿū its lahā raging taghayyuẓan and roaring wazafīran
When it [i.e., the Hellfire] sees them from a distant place, they will hear its fury and roaring.
وَإِذَآ And when wa-idhā they are thrown ul'qū thereof min'hā (in) a place makānan narrow ḍayyiqan bound in chains muqarranīna they will call daʿaw there hunālika (for) destruction thubūran
And when they are thrown into a narrow place therein bound in chains, they will cry out thereupon for destruction.
لَّا (Do) not lā call tadʿū this day l-yawma (for) destruction thubūran one wāḥidan but call wa-id'ʿū (for) destructions thubūran many kathīran
[They will be told], "Do not cry this Day for one destruction but cry for much destruction."
قُلْ Say qul Is that adhālika better khayrun or am Garden jannatu (of) Eternity l-khul'di which allatī is promised wuʿida (to) the righteous l-mutaqūna It will be kānat for them lahum a reward jazāan and destination wamaṣīran
Say, "Is that better or the Garden of Eternity which is promised to the righteous? It will be for them a reward and destination.
لَّهُمْ For them lahum therein fīhā (is) whatever mā they wish yashāūna they will abide forever khālidīna It is kāna on ʿalā your Lord rabbika a promise waʿdan requested masūlan
For them therein is whatever they wish, [while] abiding eternally. It is ever upon your Lord a promise [worthy to be] requested.1
وَيَوْمَ And (the) Day wayawma He will gather them yaḥshuruhum and what wamā they worship yaʿbudūna besides Allah min besides Allah dūni besides Allah l-lahi and He will say fayaqūlu Did you a-antum [you] mislead aḍlaltum My slaves ʿibādī these hāulāi or am they hum went astray ḍallū (from) the way l-sabīla
And [mention] the Day He will gather them and that which they worship besides Allāh and will say, "Did you mislead these, My servants, or did they [themselves] stray from the way?"
قَالُوا۟ They say qālū Glory be to You sub'ḥānaka Not mā it was proper kāna it was proper yanbaghī for us lanā that an we take nattakhidha besides You min besides You dūnika any min protectors awliyāa But walākin You gave them comforts mattaʿtahum and their forefathers waābāahum until ḥattā they forgot nasū the Message l-dhik'ra and became wakānū a people qawman ruined būran
They will say, "Exalted are You! It was not for us to take besides You any allies [i.e., protectors]. But You provided comforts for them and their fathers until they forgot the message and became a people ruined."
فَقَدْ So verily faqad they deny you kadhabūkum in what bimā you say taqūlūna so not famā you are able tastaṭīʿūna (to) avert ṣarfan and not walā (to) help naṣran And whoever waman does wrong yaẓlim among you minkum We will make him taste nudhiq'hu a punishment ʿadhāban great kabīran
So they will deny you, [disbelievers], in what you say,1 and you cannot avert [punishment] or [find] help. And whoever commits injustice2 among you - We will make him taste a great punishment.
وَمَآ And not wamā We sent arsalnā before you qablaka any mina Messengers l-mur'salīna but illā indeed, they innahum [surely] ate layakulūna food l-ṭaʿāma and walked wayamshūna in fī the markets l-aswāqi And We have made wajaʿalnā some of you baʿḍakum for others libaʿḍin a trial fit'natan will you have patience ataṣbirūna And is wakāna your Lord rabbuka All-Seer baṣīran
And We did not send before you, [O Muḥammad], any of the messengers except that they ate food and walked in the markets. And We have made some of you [people] as trial for others - will you have patience? And ever is your Lord, Seeing.
۞ وَقَالَ And said waqāla those who alladhīna (do) not lā expect yarjūna (the) meeting with Us liqāanā Why not lawlā are sent down unzila to us ʿalaynā the Angels l-malāikatu or aw we see narā our Lord rabbanā Indeed laqadi they have become arrogant is'takbarū within fī themselves anfusihim and (become) insolent waʿataw (with) insolence ʿutuwwan great kabīran
And those who do not expect the meeting with Us say, "Why were not angels sent down to us, or [why] do we [not] see our Lord?" They have certainly become arrogant within themselves1 and [become] insolent with great insolence.
يَوْمَ (The) Day yawma they see yarawna the Angels l-malāikata no lā glad tidings bush'rā (will be) that Day yawma-idhin for the criminals lil'muj'rimīna and they will say wayaqūlūna A partition ḥij'ran forbidden maḥjūran
The day they see the angels1 - no good tidings will there be that day for the criminals, and [the angels] will say, "Prevented and inaccessible."2
وَقَدِمْنَآ And We will proceed waqadim'nā to ilā whatever mā they did ʿamilū of min (the) deed(s) ʿamalin and We will make them fajaʿalnāhu (as) dust habāan dispersed manthūran
And We will approach [i.e., regard]1 what they have done of deeds and make them as dust dispersed.
أَصْحَـٰبُ (The) companions aṣḥābu (of) Paradise l-janati that Day yawma-idhin (will be in) a better khayrun abode mus'taqarran and a better wa-aḥsanu resting-place maqīlan
The companions of Paradise, that Day, are [in] a better settlement and better resting place.
وَيَوْمَ And (the) Day wayawma will split open tashaqqaqu the heavens l-samāu with the clouds bil-ghamāmi and (will be) sent down wanuzzila the Angels l-malāikatu descending tanzīlan
And [mention] the Day when the heaven will split open with [emerging] clouds,1 and the angels will be sent down in successive descent.
ٱلْمُلْكُ The Sovereignty al-mul'ku that Day yawma-idhin (will be) truly l-ḥaqu for the Most Gracious lilrraḥmāni And (it will) be wakāna a Day yawman for ʿalā the disbelievers l-kāfirīna difficult ʿasīran
True sovereignty, that Day, is for the Most Merciful. And it will be upon the disbelievers a difficult Day.
وَيَوْمَ And (the) Day wayawma will bite yaʿaḍḍu the wrongdoer l-ẓālimu [on] ʿalā his hands yadayhi he will say yaqūlu O I wish yālaytanī I had taken ittakhadhtu with maʿa the Messenger l-rasūli a way sabīlan
And the Day the wrongdoer will bite on his hands [in regret] he will say, "Oh, I wish I had taken with the Messenger a way.1
يَـٰوَيْلَتَىٰ O woe to me yāwaylatā I wish laytanī not lam I had taken attakhidh that one fulānan (as) a friend khalīlan
Oh, woe to me! I wish I had not taken that one1 as a friend.
لَّقَدْ Verily laqad he led me astray aḍallanī from ʿani the Reminder l-dhik'ri after baʿda [when] idh it (had) come to me jāanī And is wakāna the Shaitaan l-shayṭānu to the man lil'insāni a deserter khadhūlan
He led me away from the remembrance1 after it had come to me. And ever is Satan, to man, a deserter."2
وَقَالَ And said waqāla the Messenger l-rasūlu O my Lord yārabbi Indeed inna my people qawmī took ittakhadhū this hādhā the Quran l-qur'āna (as) a forsaken thing mahjūran
And the Messenger has said, "O my Lord, indeed my people have taken this Qur’ān as [a thing] abandoned."1
وَكَذَٰلِكَ And thus wakadhālika We have made jaʿalnā for every likulli Prophet nabiyyin an enemy ʿaduwwan among mina the criminals l-muj'rimīna But sufficient is wakafā your Lord birabbika (as) a Guide hādiyan and a Helper wanaṣīran
And thus have We made for every prophet an enemy from among the criminals. But sufficient is your Lord as a guide and a helper.
وَقَالَ And said waqāla those who alladhīna disbelieve kafarū Why not lawlā was revealed nuzzila to him ʿalayhi the Quran l-qur'ānu all at once jum'latan all at once wāḥidatan Thus kadhālika that We may strengthen linuthabbita thereby bihi your heart fuādaka and We have recited it warattalnāhu (with distinct) recitation tartīlan
And those who disbelieve say, "Why was the Qur’ān not revealed to him all at once?" Thus [it is] that We may strengthen thereby your heart. And We have spaced it distinctly.1
وَلَا And not walā they come to you yatūnaka with an example bimathalin but illā We bring you ji'nāka the truth bil-ḥaqi and (the) best wa-aḥsana explanation tafsīran
And they do not come to you with an example [i.e., argument] except that We bring you the truth and the best explanation.
ٱلَّذِينَ Those who alladhīna will be gathered yuḥ'sharūna on ʿalā their faces wujūhihim to ilā Hell jahannama those ulāika (are the) worst sharrun (in) position makānan and most astray wa-aḍallu (from the) way sabīlan
The ones who are gathered on their faces to Hell - those are the worst in position and farthest astray in [their] way.
وَلَقَدْ And verily walaqad We gave ātaynā Musa mūsā the Scripture l-kitāba and We appointed wajaʿalnā with him maʿahu his brother akhāhu Harun hārūna (as) an assistant wazīran
And We had certainly given Moses the Scripture and appointed with him his brother Aaron as an assistant.
فَقُلْنَا Then We said faqul'nā Go both of you idh'habā to ilā the people l-qawmi those who alladhīna have denied kadhabū Our Signs biāyātinā Then We destroyed them fadammarnāhum (with) destruction tadmīran
And We said, "Go both of you to the people who have denied Our signs." Then We destroyed them with [complete] destruction.
وَقَوْمَ And (the) people waqawma (of) Nuh nūḥin when lammā they denied kadhabū the Messengers l-rusula We drowned them aghraqnāhum and We made them wajaʿalnāhum for mankind lilnnāsi a sign āyatan And We have prepared wa-aʿtadnā for the wrongdoers lilẓẓālimīna a punishment ʿadhāban painful alīman
And the people of Noah - when they denied the messengers,1 We drowned them, and We made them for mankind a sign. And We have prepared for the wrongdoers a painful punishment.
وَعَادًۭا And Ad waʿādan and Thamud wathamūdā and (the) dwellers wa-aṣḥāba (of) Ar-rass l-rasi and generations waqurūnan between bayna that dhālika many kathīran
And [We destroyed] ʿAad and Thamūd and the companions of the well1 and many generations between them.
وَكُلًّۭا And each wakullan We have set forth ḍarabnā for him lahu the examples l-amthāla and each wakullan We destroyed tabbarnā (with) destruction tatbīran
And for each We presented examples [as warnings], and each We destroyed with [total] destruction.
وَلَقَدْ And verily walaqad they have come ataw upon ʿalā the town l-qaryati which allatī was showered um'ṭirat (with) a rain maṭara (of) evil l-sawi Then do not afalam they [were] yakūnū see it yarawnahā Nay bal they are kānū not lā expecting yarjūna Resurrection nushūran
And they have already come upon the town which was showered with a rain of evil [i.e., stones]. So have they not seen it? But they are not expecting resurrection.1
وَإِذَا And when wa-idhā they see you ra-awka not in they take you yattakhidhūnaka except illā (in) mockery huzuwan Is this ahādhā the one whom alladhī Allah has sent baʿatha Allah has sent l-lahu (as) a Messenger rasūlan
And when they see you, [O Muḥammad], they take you not except in ridicule, [saying], "Is this the one whom Allāh has sent as a messenger?
إِن He would have almost in He would have almost kāda [surely] misled us layuḍillunā from ʿan our gods ālihatinā if not lawlā that an we had been steadfast ṣabarnā to them ʿalayhā And soon wasawfa will know yaʿlamūna when ḥīna they will see yarawna the punishment l-ʿadhāba who man (is) more astray aḍallu (from the) way sabīlan
He almost would have misled us from our gods had we not been steadfast in [worship of] them." But they are going to know, when they see the punishment, who is farthest astray in [his] way.
أَرَءَيْتَ Have you seen ara-ayta (one) who mani takes ittakhadha (as) his god ilāhahu his own desire hawāhu Then would you afa-anta be takūnu over him ʿalayhi a guardian wakīlan
Have you seen the one who takes as his god his own desire? Then would you be responsible for him?
أَمْ Or am do you think taḥsabu that anna most of them aktharahum hear yasmaʿūna or aw understand yaʿqilūna Not in they hum (are) except illā like cattle kal-anʿāmi Nay bal they hum (are) more astray aḍallu (from the) way sabīlan
Or do you think that most of them hear or reason? They are not except like livestock.1 Rather, they are [even] more astray in [their] way.
أَلَمْ Do you not alam see tara [to] ilā your Lord rabbika how kayfa He extends madda the shadow l-ẓila And if walaw He willed shāa surely He (could) have made it lajaʿalahu stationary sākinan Then thumma We made jaʿalnā the sun l-shamsa for it ʿalayhi an indication dalīlan
Have you not considered your Lord - how He extends the shadow, and if He willed, He could have made it stationary? Then We made the sun for it an indication.1
ثُمَّ Then thumma We withdraw it qabaḍnāhu to Us ilaynā a withdrawal qabḍan gradual yasīran
Then We [retract and] hold it with Us for a brief grasp.1
وَهُوَ And He wahuwa (is) the One Who alladhī made jaʿala for you lakumu the night al-layla (as) a covering libāsan and the sleep wal-nawma a rest subātan and made wajaʿala the day l-nahāra a resurrection nushūran
And it is He who has made the night for you as clothing1 and sleep [a means for] rest and has made the day a resurrection.2
وَهُوَ And He wahuwa (is) the One Who alladhī sends arsala the winds l-riyāḥa (as) glad tidings bush'ran before bayna before yaday His Mercy raḥmatihi and We send down wa-anzalnā from mina the sky l-samāi water māan pure ṭahūran
And it is He who sends the winds as good tidings before His mercy [i.e., rainfall], and We send down from the sky pure water
لِّنُحْـِۧىَ That We may give life linuḥ'yiya thereby bihi (to) a land baldatan dead maytan and We give drink wanus'qiyahu thereof mimmā (to those) We created khalaqnā cattle anʿāman and men wa-anāsiyya many kathīran
That We may bring to life thereby a dead land and give it as drink to those We created of numerous livestock and men.
وَلَقَدْ And verily walaqad We have distributed it ṣarrafnāhu among them baynahum that they may remember liyadhakkarū but refuse fa-abā most aktharu (of) the people l-nāsi except illā disbelief kufūran
And We have certainly distributed it among them that they might be reminded,1 but most of the people refuse except disbelief.
وَلَوْ And if walaw We willed shi'nā surely, We (would) have raised labaʿathnā in fī every kulli town qaryatin a warner nadhīran
And if We had willed, We could have sent into every city a warner.1
فَلَا So (do) not falā obey tuṭiʿi the disbelievers l-kāfirīna and strive (against) them wajāhid'hum with it bihi a striving jihādan great kabīran
So do not obey the disbelievers, and strive against them with it [i.e., the Qur’ān] a great striving.
۞ وَهُوَ And He wahuwa (is) the One Who alladhī (has) released maraja the two seas l-baḥrayni [this] (one) hādhā palatable ʿadhbun and sweet furātun and [this] (one) wahādhā salty mil'ḥun (and) bitter ujājun and He has made wajaʿala between them baynahumā a barrier barzakhan and a partition waḥij'ran forbidden maḥjūran
And it is He who has released [simultaneously] the two seas [i.e., bodies of water], one fresh and sweet and one salty and bitter, and He placed between them a barrier and prohibiting partition.
وَهُوَ And He wahuwa (is) the One Who alladhī has created khalaqa from mina the water l-māi human being basharan and has made (for) him fajaʿalahu blood relationship nasaban and marriage relationship waṣih'ran And is wakāna your Lord rabbuka All-Powerful qadīran
And it is He who has created from water [i.e., semen] a human being and made him [a relative by] lineage and marriage. And ever is your Lord competent [concerning creation].
وَيَعْبُدُونَ But they worship wayaʿbudūna besides Allah min besides Allah dūni besides Allah l-lahi what mā not profits them lā not profits them yanfaʿuhum and not walā harms them yaḍurruhum and is wakāna the disbeliever l-kāfiru against ʿalā his Lord rabbihi a helper ẓahīran
But they worship rather than Allāh that which does not benefit them or harm them, and the disbeliever is ever, against his Lord, an assistant [to Satan].
وَمَآ And not wamā We sent you arsalnāka except illā (as) a bearer of glad tidings mubashiran and a warner wanadhīran
And We have not sent you, [O Muḥammad], except as a bringer of good tidings and a warner.
قُلْ Say qul Not mā I ask (of) you asalukum for it ʿalayhi any min payment ajrin except illā (that) whoever wills man (that) whoever wills shāa to an take yattakhidha to ilā his Lord rabbihi a way sabīlan
Say, "I do not ask of you for it any payment - only that whoever wills might take to his Lord a way."
وَتَوَكَّلْ And put your trust watawakkal in ʿalā the Ever-Living l-ḥayi the One Who alladhī does not die lā does not die yamūtu and glorify wasabbiḥ with His Praise biḥamdihi And sufficient is wakafā He bihi regarding the sins bidhunūbi (of) His slaves ʿibādihi All-Aware khabīran
And rely upon the Ever-Living who does not die, and exalt [Allāh] with His praise. And sufficient is He to be, with the sins of His servants, [fully] Aware -
ٱلَّذِى The One Who alladhī created khalaqa the heavens l-samāwāti and the earth wal-arḍa and whatever wamā (is) between them baynahumā in fī six sittati periods ayyāmin then thumma He established Himself is'tawā over ʿalā the Throne l-ʿarshi the Most Gracious l-raḥmānu so ask fasal Him bihi (as He is) All-Aware khabīran
He who created the heavens and the earth and what is between them in six days and then established Himself above the Throne1 - the Most Merciful, so ask about Him one well informed [i.e., the Prophet (ﷺ)].
وَإِذَا And when wa-idhā it is said qīla to them lahumu Prostrate us'judū to the Most Gracious lilrraḥmāni They say qālū And what wamā (is) the Most Gracious l-raḥmānu Should we prostrate anasjudu to what limā you order us tamurunā And it increases them wazādahum (in) aversion nufūran
And when it is said to them, "Prostrate to the Most Merciful," they say, "And what is the Most Merciful? Should we prostrate to that which you order us?" And it increases them in aversion.
تَبَارَكَ Blessed is He tabāraka Who alladhī has placed jaʿala in fī the skies l-samāi constellations burūjan and has placed wajaʿala therein fīhā a lamp sirājan and a moon waqamaran shining munīran
Blessed is He who has placed in the sky great stars and placed therein a [burning] lamp and luminous moon.
وَهُوَ And He wahuwa (is) the One Who alladhī made jaʿala the night al-layla and the day wal-nahāra (in) succession khil'fatan for whoever liman desires arāda to an remember yadhakkara or aw desires arāda to be thankful shukūran
And it is He who has made the night and the day in succession for whoever desires to remember or desires gratitude.
وَعِبَادُ And (the) slaves waʿibādu (of) the Most Gracious l-raḥmāni (are) those who alladhīna walk yamshūna on ʿalā the earth l-arḍi (in) humbleness hawnan and when wa-idhā address them khāṭabahumu the ignorant ones l-jāhilūna they say qālū Peace salāman
And the servants of the Most Merciful are those who walk upon the earth easily,1 and when the ignorant address them [harshly], they say [words of] peace,2
وَٱلَّذِينَ And those who wa-alladhīna spend (the) night yabītūna before their Lord lirabbihim prostrating sujjadan and standing waqiyāman
And those who spend [part of] the night to their Lord prostrating and standing [in prayer]
وَٱلَّذِينَ And those who wa-alladhīna say yaqūlūna Our Lord rabbanā Avert iṣ'rif from us ʿannā the punishment ʿadhāba (of) Hell jahannama Indeed inna its punishment ʿadhābahā is kāna inseparable gharāman
And those who say, "Our Lord, avert from us the punishment of Hell. Indeed, its punishment is ever adhering;
إِنَّهَا Indeed, it innahā (is) an evil sāat abode mus'taqarran and resting place wamuqāman
Indeed, it is evil as a settlement and residence."
وَٱلَّذِينَ And those who wa-alladhīna when idhā they spend anfaqū (are) not extravagant lam (are) not extravagant yus'rifū and are not stingy walam and are not stingy yaqturū but are wakāna between bayna that dhālika moderate qawāman
And [they are] those who, when they spend, do so not excessively or sparingly but are ever, between that, [justly] moderate
وَٱلَّذِينَ And those who wa-alladhīna (do) not lā invoke yadʿūna with maʿa Allah l-lahi god ilāhan another ākhara and (do) not walā [they] kill yaqtulūna the soul l-nafsa which allatī Allah has forbidden ḥarrama Allah has forbidden l-lahu except illā by right bil-ḥaqi and (do) not walā commit unlawful sexual intercourse yaznūna And whoever waman does yafʿal that dhālika will meet yalqa a penalty athāman
And those who do not invoke1 with Allāh another deity or kill the soul which Allāh has forbidden [to be killed], except by right, and do not commit unlawful sexual intercourse. And whoever should do that will meet a penalty.
يُضَـٰعَفْ Will be doubled yuḍāʿaf for him lahu the punishment l-ʿadhābu (on the) Day yawma (of) Resurrection l-qiyāmati and he will abide forever wayakhlud therein fīhi humiliated muhānan
Multiplied for him is the punishment on the Day of Resurrection, and he will abide therein humiliated -
إِلَّا Except illā (he) who man repents tāba and believes waāmana and does waʿamila righteous deeds ʿamalan righteous deeds ṣāliḥan then (for) those fa-ulāika Allah will replace yubaddilu Allah will replace l-lahu their evil deeds sayyiātihim (with) good ones ḥasanātin And is wakāna Allah l-lahu Oft-Forgiving ghafūran Most Merciful raḥīman
Except for those who repent, believe and do righteous work. For them Allāh will replace their evil deeds with good. And ever is Allāh Forgiving and Merciful.
وَمَن And whoever waman repents tāba and does waʿamila righteous (deeds) ṣāliḥan then indeed, he fa-innahu turns yatūbu to ilā Allah l-lahi (with) repentance matāban
And he who repents and does righteousness does indeed turn to Allāh with [accepted] repentance.
وَٱلَّذِينَ And those who wa-alladhīna (do) not lā bear witness yashhadūna (to) the falsehood l-zūra and when wa-idhā they pass marrū by futility bil-laghwi they pass marrū (as) dignified ones kirāman
