الحج
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا O mankind yāayyuhā O mankind l-nāsu Fear ittaqū your Lord rabbakum Indeed inna (the) convulsion zalzalata (of) the Hour l-sāʿati (is) a thing shayon great ʿaẓīmun
O mankind, fear your Lord. Indeed, the convulsion of the [final] Hour is a terrible thing.
يَوْمَ (The) Day yawma you will see it tarawnahā will forget tadhhalu every kullu nursing mother mur'ḍiʿatin that which ʿammā she was nursing arḍaʿat and will deliver wataḍaʿu every kullu pregnant woman dhāti pregnant woman ḥamlin her load ḥamlahā and you will see watarā [the] mankind l-nāsa intoxicated sukārā while not wamā they hum (are) intoxicated bisukārā but walākinna (the) punishment ʿadhāba (of) Allah l-lahi (will be) severe shadīdun
On the Day you see it every nursing mother will be distracted from that [child] she was nursing, and every pregnant woman will abort her pregnancy, and you will see the people [appearing] intoxicated while they are not intoxicated; but the punishment of Allāh is severe.
وَمِنَ And among wamina the mankind l-nāsi (is he) who man disputes yujādilu concerning fī Allah l-lahi without bighayri knowledge ʿil'min and follows wayattabiʿu every kulla devil shayṭānin rebellious marīdin
And of the people is he who disputes about Allāh without knowledge and follows every rebellious devil.
كُتِبَ It has been decreed kutiba for him ʿalayhi that he annahu who man befriends him tawallāhu then indeed, he fa-annahu will misguide him yuḍilluhu and will guide him wayahdīhi to ilā (the) punishment ʿadhābi (of) the Blaze l-saʿīri
It has been decreed for him [i.e., every devil] that whoever turns to him - he will misguide him and will lead him to the punishment of the Blaze.
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا O mankind yāayyuhā O mankind l-nāsu If in you are kuntum in fī doubt raybin about mina the Resurrection l-baʿthi then indeed, We fa-innā We created you khalaqnākum from min dust turābin then thumma from min a semen-drop nuṭ'fatin then thumma from min a clinging substance ʿalaqatin then thumma from min an embryonic lump muḍ'ghatin formed mukhallaqatin and unformed waghayri and unformed mukhallaqatin that We may make clear linubayyina to you lakum And We cause to remain wanuqirru in fī the wombs l-arḥāmi what mā We will nashāu for ilā a term ajalin appointed musamman then thumma We bring you out nukh'rijukum (as) a child ṭif'lan [then] thumma that you may reach litablughū [your] maturity ashuddakum And among you waminkum (is he) who man dies yutawaffā and among you waminkum (is he) who man is returned yuraddu to ilā the most abject ardhali age l-ʿumuri so that not likaylā he knows yaʿlama after min after baʿdi having known ʿil'min anything shayan And you see watarā the earth l-arḍa barren hāmidatan then when fa-idhā We send down anzalnā on it ʿalayhā water l-māa it gets stirred ih'tazzat and it swells warabat and grows wa-anbatat of min every kulli kind zawjin beautiful bahījin
O people, if you should be in doubt about the Resurrection, then [consider that] indeed, We created you from dust, then from a sperm-drop, then from a clinging clot, and then from a lump of flesh, formed and unformed1 - that We may show you.2 And We settle in the wombs whom We will for a specified term, then We bring you out as a child, and then [We develop you] that you may reach your [time of] maturity. And among you is he who is taken in [early] death, and among you is he who is returned to the most decrepit [old] age so that he knows, after [once having] knowledge, nothing. And you see the earth barren, but when We send down upon it rain, it quivers and swells and grows [something] of every beautiful kind.
ذَٰلِكَ That dhālika (is) because bi-anna Allah l-laha He huwa (is) the Truth l-ḥaqu And that He wa-annahu [He] gives life yuḥ'yī (to) the dead l-mawtā and that He wa-annahu (is) over ʿalā every kulli thing shayin All-Powerful qadīrun
That is because Allāh is the True Reality and because He gives life to the dead and because He is over all things competent
وَأَنَّ And that wa-anna the Hour l-sāʿata will come ātiyatun (there is) no lā doubt rayba about it fīhā and that wa-anna Allah l-laha will resurrect yabʿathu (those) who man (are) in fī the graves l-qubūri
And [that they may know] that the Hour is coming - no doubt about it - and that Allāh will resurrect those in the graves.
وَمِنَ And among wamina mankind l-nāsi (is he) who man disputes yujādilu concerning fī Allah l-lahi without bighayri any knowledge ʿil'min and not walā any guidance hudan and not walā a Book kitābin enlightening munīrin
And of the people is he who disputes about Allāh without knowledge or guidance or an enlightening book [from Him],
ثَانِىَ Twisting thāniya his neck ʿiṭ'fihi to mislead liyuḍilla from ʿan (the) way sabīli (of) Allah l-lahi For him lahu in fī the world l-dun'yā (is) disgrace khiz'yun and We will make him taste wanudhīquhu (on the) Day yawma (of) Resurrection l-qiyāmati (the) punishment ʿadhāba (of) the Burning Fire l-ḥarīqi
Twisting his neck [in arrogance] to mislead [people] from the way of Allāh. For him in the world is disgrace, and We will make him taste on the Day of Resurrection the punishment of the Burning Fire [while it is said],
ذَٰلِكَ That dhālika (is) for what bimā have sent forth qaddamat your hands yadāka and that wa-anna Allah l-laha is not laysa unjust biẓallāmin to His slaves lil'ʿabīdi
"That is for what your hands have put forth and because Allāh is not ever unjust to [His] servants."
وَمِنَ And among wamina the mankind l-nāsi (is he) who man worships yaʿbudu Allah l-laha on ʿalā an edge ḥarfin And if fa-in befalls him aṣābahu good khayrun he is content iṭ'ma-anna with it bihi and if wa-in befalls him aṣābathu a trial fit'natun he turns inqalaba on ʿalā his face wajhihi He has lost khasira the world l-dun'yā and the Hereafter wal-ākhirata That dhālika [it] huwa (is) the loss l-khus'rānu clear l-mubīnu
And of the people is he who worships Allāh on an edge.1 If he is touched by good, he is reassured by it; but if he is struck by trial, he turns on his face [to unbelief]. He has lost [this] world and the Hereafter. That is what is the manifest loss.
يَدْعُوا۟ He calls yadʿū besides min besides dūni Allah l-lahi what mā not lā harms him yaḍurruhu and what wamā not lā benefits him yanfaʿuhu That dhālika [it] huwa (is) the straying l-ḍalālu far away l-baʿīdu
He invokes instead of Allāh that which neither harms him nor benefits him. That is what is the extreme error.
يَدْعُوا۟ He calls yadʿū (one) who laman his harm ḍarruhu (is) closer aqrabu than min his benefit nafʿihi Surely, an evil labi'sa protector l-mawlā and surely an evil walabi'sa friend l-ʿashīru
He invokes one whose harm is closer than his benefit - how wretched the protector and how wretched the associate.
إِنَّ Indeed inna Allah l-laha will admit yud'khilu those who alladhīna believe āmanū and do waʿamilū the righteous deeds l-ṣāliḥāti (to) Gardens jannātin flow tajrī from min underneath it taḥtihā the rivers l-anhāru Indeed inna Allah l-laha does yafʿalu what mā He intends yurīdu
Indeed, Allāh will admit those who believe and do righteous deeds to gardens beneath which rivers flow. Indeed, Allāh does what He intends.
مَن Whoever man [is] kāna thinks yaẓunnu that an not lan Allah will help him yanṣurahu Allah will help him l-lahu in fī the world l-dun'yā and the Hereafter wal-ākhirati then let him extend falyamdud a rope bisababin to ilā the sky l-samāi then thumma let him cut off l'yaqṭaʿ then let him see falyanẓur whether hal will remove yudh'hibanna his plan kayduhu what mā enrages yaghīẓu
Whoever should think that Allāh will not support him [i.e., Prophet Muḥammad (ﷺ)] in this world and the Hereafter - let him extend a rope to the ceiling, then cut off [his breath],1 and let him see: will his effort remove that which enrages [him]?
وَكَذَٰلِكَ And thus wakadhālika We sent it down anzalnāhu (as) clear Verses āyātin (as) clear Verses bayyinātin and that wa-anna Allah l-laha guides yahdī whom man He intends yurīdu
And thus have We sent it [i.e., the Qur’ān] down as verses of clear evidence and because Allāh guides whom He intends.
إِنَّ Indeed inna those who alladhīna have believed āmanū and those who wa-alladhīna were Jews hādū and the Sabians wal-ṣābiīna and the Christians wal-naṣārā and the Magians wal-majūsa and those who wa-alladhīna (are) polytheists ashrakū indeed inna Allah l-laha will judge yafṣilu between them baynahum (on) the Day yawma (of) the Resurrection l-qiyāmati Indeed inna Allah l-laha over ʿalā every kulli thing shayin (is) a Witness shahīdun
Indeed, those who have believed and those who were Jews and the Sabeans and the Christians and the Magians and those who associated with Allāh - Allāh will judge between them on the Day of Resurrection. Indeed Allāh is, over all things, Witness.1
أَلَمْ Do not alam you see tara that anna (to) Allah l-laha prostrates yasjudu to Him lahu whoever man (is) in fī the heavens l-samāwāti and whoever waman (is) in fī the earth l-arḍi and the sun wal-shamsu and the moon wal-qamaru and the stars wal-nujūmu and the mountains wal-jibālu and the trees wal-shajaru and the moving creatures wal-dawābu and many wakathīrun of mina the people l-nāsi But many wakathīrun (is) justly due ḥaqqa on him ʿalayhi the punishment l-ʿadhābu And whoever waman Allah humiliates yuhini Allah humiliates l-lahu then not famā for him lahu any min bestower of honor muk'rimin Indeed inna Allah l-laha does yafʿalu what mā He wills yashāu
Do you not see [i.e., know] that to Allāh prostrates whoever is in the heavens and whoever is on the earth and the sun, the moon, the stars, the mountains, the trees, the moving creatures and many of the people? But upon many the punishment has been justified.1 And he whom Allāh humiliates - for him there is no bestower of honor. Indeed, Allāh does what He wills.
۞ هَـٰذَانِ These two hādhāni opponents khaṣmāni dispute ikh'taṣamū concerning fī their Lord rabbihim But those who fa-alladhīna disbelieved kafarū will be cut out quṭṭiʿat for them lahum garments thiyābun of min fire nārin Will be poured yuṣabbu over min over fawqi their heads ruūsihimu [the] scalding water l-ḥamīmu
These1 are two adversaries who have disputed over their Lord. But those who disbelieved will have cut out for them garments of fire. Poured upon their heads will be scalding water
يُصْهَرُ Will be melted yuṣ'haru with it bihi what mā (is) in fī their bellies buṭūnihim and the skins wal-julūdu
By which is melted that within their bellies and [their] skins.
وَلَهُم And for them walahum (are) hooked rods maqāmiʿu of min iron ḥadīdin
And for [striking] them are maces of iron.
كُلَّمَآ Every time kullamā they want arādū to an come out yakhrujū from it min'hā from min anguish ghammin they will be returned uʿīdū therein fīhā Taste wadhūqū (the) punishment ʿadhāba (of) the Burning Fire l-ḥarīqi
Every time they want to get out of it [i.e., Hellfire] from anguish, they will be returned to it, and [it will be said], "Taste the punishment of the Burning Fire!"
إِنَّ Indeed inna Allah l-laha will admit yud'khilu those who alladhīna believe āmanū and do waʿamilū the righteous deeds l-ṣāliḥāti (to) Gardens jannātin flow tajrī from min underneath it taḥtihā the rivers l-anhāru They will be adorned yuḥallawna therein fīhā with min bracelets asāwira of min gold dhahabin and pearl walu'lu-an and their garments walibāsuhum therein fīhā (will be of) silk ḥarīrun
Indeed, Allāh will admit those who believe and do righteous deeds to gardens beneath which rivers flow. They will be adorned therein with bracelets of gold and pearl, and their garments therein will be silk.
وَهُدُوٓا۟ And they were guided wahudū to ilā the good l-ṭayibi of mina the speech l-qawli and they were guided wahudū to ilā (the) path ṣirāṭi (of) the Praiseworthy l-ḥamīdi
And they had been guided [in worldly life] to good speech, and they were guided to the path of the Praiseworthy.
إِنَّ Indeed inna those who alladhīna disbelieved kafarū and hinder wayaṣuddūna from ʿan (the) way sabīli (of) Allah l-lahi and Al-Masjid Al-Haraam wal-masjidi and Al-Masjid Al-Haraam l-ḥarāmi which alladhī We made it jaʿalnāhu for the mankind lilnnāsi equal sawāan (are) the resident l-ʿākifu therein fīhi and the visitor wal-bādi and whoever waman intends yurid therein fīhi of deviation bi-il'ḥādin (or) wrongdoing biẓul'min We will make him taste nudhiq'hu of min a punishment ʿadhābin painful alīmin
Indeed, those who have disbelieved and avert [people] from the way of Allāh and [from] al-Masjid al-Ḥarām, which We made for the people - equal are the resident therein and one from outside - and [also] whoever intends [a deed] therein1 of deviation [in religion] by wrongdoing - We will make him taste of a painful punishment.
وَإِذْ And when wa-idh We assigned bawwanā to Ibrahim li-ib'rāhīma (the) site makāna (of) the House l-bayti That an (do) not lā associate tush'rik with Me bī anything shayan and purify waṭahhir My House baytiya for those who circumambulate lilṭṭāifīna and those who stand wal-qāimīna and those who bow wal-rukaʿi (and) those who prostrate l-sujūdi
And [mention, O Muḥammad], when We designated for Abraham the site of the House, [saying], "Do not associate anything with Me and purify My House for those who perform ṭawāf1 and those who stand [in prayer] and those who bow and prostrate.
وَأَذِّن And proclaim wa-adhin to fī [the] mankind l-nāsi [of] the Pilgrimage bil-ḥaji they will come to you yatūka (on) foot rijālan and on waʿalā every kulli lean camel ḍāmirin they will come yatīna from min every kulli mountain highway fajjin distant ʿamīqin
And proclaim to the people the ḥajj [pilgrimage]; they will come to you on foot and on every lean camel; they will come from every distant pass -
لِّيَشْهَدُوا۟ That they may witness liyashhadū benefits manāfiʿa for them lahum and mention wayadhkurū (the) name is'ma (of) Allah l-lahi on fī days ayyāmin known maʿlūmātin over ʿalā what mā He has provided them razaqahum of min (the) beast bahīmati (of) cattle l-anʿāmi So eat fakulū of them min'hā and feed wa-aṭʿimū the miserable l-bāisa the poor l-faqīra
That they may witness [i.e., attend] benefits for themselves and mention the name of Allāh on known [i.e., specific] days over what He has provided for them of [sacrificial] animals.1 So eat of them and feed the miserable and poor.
ثُمَّ Then thumma let them end l'yaqḍū their prescribed duties tafathahum and fulfil walyūfū their vows nudhūrahum and circumambulate walyaṭṭawwafū the House bil-bayti [the] Ancient l-ʿatīqi
Then let them end their untidiness and fulfill their vows and perform ṭawāf around the ancient House."
ذَٰلِكَ That dhālika and whoever waman honors yuʿaẓẓim (the) sacred rites ḥurumāti (of) Allah l-lahi then it fahuwa (is) best khayrun for him lahu near ʿinda his Lord rabbihi And are made lawful wa-uḥillat to you lakumu the cattle l-anʿāmu except illā what mā is recited yut'lā to you ʿalaykum So avoid fa-ij'tanibū the abomination l-rij'sa of mina the idols l-awthāni and avoid wa-ij'tanibū (the) word qawla false l-zūri
That [has been commanded], and whoever honors the sacred ordinances of Allāh - it is best for him in the sight of his Lord. And permitted to you are the grazing livestock, except what is recited to you.1 So avoid the uncleanliness of idols and avoid false statement,
حُنَفَآءَ Being upright ḥunafāa to Allah lillahi not ghayra associating partners mush'rikīna with Him bihi And whoever waman associates partners yush'rik with Allah bil-lahi then (it is) as though faka-annamā he had fallen kharra from mina the sky l-samāi and (had) snatched him fatakhṭafuhu the birds l-ṭayru or aw had blown tahwī him bihi the wind l-rīḥu to fī a place makānin far off saḥīqin
Inclining [only] to Allāh, not associating [anything] with Him. And he who associates with Allāh - it is as though he had fallen from the sky and was snatched by the birds or the wind carried him down into a remote place.
ذَٰلِكَ That dhālika and whoever waman honors yuʿaẓẓim (the) Symbols shaʿāira (of) Allah l-lahi then indeed, it fa-innahā (is) from min (the) piety taqwā (of) the hearts l-qulūbi
That [is so]. And whoever honors the symbols [i.e., rites] of Allāh - indeed, it is from the piety of hearts.
لَكُمْ For you lakum therein fīhā (are) benefits manāfiʿu for ilā a term ajalin appointed musamman then thumma their place of sacrifice maḥilluhā (is) at ilā the House l-bayti the Ancient l-ʿatīqi
For you therein [i.e., the animals marked for sacrifice] are benefits for a specified term;1 then their place of sacrifice is at the ancient House.2
وَلِكُلِّ And for every walikulli nation ummatin We have appointed jaʿalnā a rite mansakan that they may mention liyadhkurū (the) name is'ma (of) Allah l-lahi over ʿalā what mā He (has) provided them razaqahum of min (the) beast bahīmati (of) cattle l-anʿāmi And your God fa-ilāhukum (is) God ilāhun One wāḥidun so to Him falahu submit aslimū And give glad tidings wabashiri (to) the humble ones l-mukh'bitīna
And for every [religious] community We have appointed a rite [of sacrifice]1 that they may mention the name of Allāh over what He has provided for them of [sacrificial] animals. For your god is one God, so to Him submit. And, [O Muḥammad], give good tidings to the humble [before their Lord]
ٱلَّذِينَ Those alladhīna when idhā is mentioned dhukira Allah l-lahu fear wajilat their hearts qulūbuhum and those who are patient wal-ṣābirīna over ʿalā whatever mā has afflicted them aṣābahum and those who establish wal-muqīmī the prayer l-ṣalati and out of what wamimmā We have provided them razaqnāhum they spend yunfiqūna
Who, when Allāh is mentioned, their hearts are fearful, and [to] the patient over what has afflicted them, and the establishers of prayer and those who spend from what We have provided them.
وَٱلْبُدْنَ And the camels and cattle wal-bud'na We have made them jaʿalnāhā for you lakum among min (the) Symbols shaʿāiri (of) Allah l-lahi for you lakum therein fīhā (is) good khayrun So mention fa-udh'kurū (the) name is'ma (of) Allah l-lahi over them ʿalayhā (when) lined up ṣawāffa and when fa-idhā are down wajabat their sides junūbuhā then eat fakulū from them min'hā and feed wa-aṭʿimū the needy who do not ask l-qāniʿa and the needy who ask wal-muʿ'tara Thus kadhālika We have subjected them sakharnāhā to you lakum so that you may laʿallakum be grateful tashkurūna
And the camels and cattle We have appointed for you as among the symbols [i.e., rites] of Allāh; for you therein is good. So mention the name of Allāh upon them when lined up [for sacrifice]; and when they are [lifeless] on their sides, then eat from them and feed the needy [who does not seek aid] and the beggar. Thus have We subjected them to you that you may be grateful.
لَن Will not lan reach yanāla Allah l-laha their meat luḥūmuhā and not walā their blood dimāuhā but walākin reaches Him yanāluhu the piety l-taqwā from you minkum Thus kadhālika He subjected them sakharahā to you lakum so that you may magnify litukabbirū Allah l-laha for ʿalā what mā He has guided you hadākum And give glad tidings wabashiri (to) the good-doers l-muḥ'sinīna
Their meat will not reach Allāh, nor will their blood, but what reaches Him is piety from you. Thus have We subjected them to you that you may glorify Allāh for that [to] which He has guided you; and give good tidings to the doers of good.
۞ إِنَّ Indeed inna Allah l-laha defends yudāfiʿu defends ʿani those who alladhīna believe āmanū Indeed inna Allah l-laha (does) not lā like yuḥibbu every kulla treacherous khawwānin ungrateful kafūrin
Indeed, Allāh defends those who have believed. Indeed, Allāh does not like everyone treacherous and ungrateful.
أُذِنَ Permission is given udhina to those who lilladhīna are being fought yuqātalūna because they bi-annahum were wronged ẓulimū And indeed wa-inna Allah l-laha for ʿalā their victory naṣrihim (is) surely Able laqadīrun
Permission [to fight] has been given to those who are being fought,1 because they were wronged. And indeed, Allāh is competent to give them victory.
ٱلَّذِينَ Those who alladhīna have been evicted ukh'rijū from min their homes diyārihim without bighayri right ḥaqqin except illā that an they said yaqūlū Our Lord rabbunā (is) Allah l-lahu And if not walawlā Allah checks dafʿu Allah checks l-lahi the people l-nāsa some of them baʿḍahum by others bibaʿḍin surely (would) have been demolished lahuddimat monasteries ṣawāmiʿu and churches wabiyaʿun and synagogues waṣalawātun and masajid wamasājidu is mentioned yudh'karu in it fīhā (the) name of Allah us'mu (the) name of Allah l-lahi much kathīran And surely Allah will help walayanṣuranna And surely Allah will help l-lahu (those) who man help Him yanṣuruhu Indeed inna Allah l-laha (is) surely All-Strong laqawiyyun All-Mighty ʿazīzun
[They are] those who have been evicted from their homes without right - only because they say, "Our Lord is Allāh." And were it not that Allāh checks the people, some by means of others, there would have been demolished monasteries, churches, synagogues, and mosques in which the name of Allāh is much mentioned [i.e., praised]. And Allāh will surely support those who support Him [i.e., His cause]. Indeed, Allāh is Powerful and Exalted in Might.
ٱلَّذِينَ Those who alladhīna if in We establish them makkannāhum in fī the land l-arḍi they establish aqāmū the prayer l-ṣalata and they give waātawū zakah l-zakata and they enjoin wa-amarū the right bil-maʿrūfi and forbid wanahaw from ʿani the wrong l-munkari And for Allah walillahi (is the) end ʿāqibatu (of) the matters l-umūri
[And they are] those who, if We give them authority in the land, establish prayer and give zakāh and enjoin what is right and forbid what is wrong. And to Allāh belongs the outcome of [all] matters.
وَإِن And if wa-in they deny you yukadhibūka so verily faqad denied kadhabat before them qablahum (the) people qawmu (of) Nuh nūḥin and Aad waʿādun and Thamud wathamūdu
And if they deny you, [O Muḥammad] - so, before them, did the people of Noah and ʿAad and Thamūd deny [their prophets],
وَقَوْمُ And (the) people waqawmu (of) Ibrahim ib'rāhīma and (the) people waqawmu (of) Lut lūṭin
And the people of Abraham and the people of Lot.
وَأَصْحَـٰبُ And the inhabitants wa-aṣḥābu (of) Madyan madyana And Musa was denied wakudhiba And Musa was denied mūsā so I granted respite fa-amlaytu to the disbelievers lil'kāfirīna then thumma I seized them akhadhtuhum and how fakayfa was kāna My punishment nakīri
And the inhabitants of Madyan. And Moses was denied, so I prolonged enjoyment for the disbelievers; then I seized them, and how [terrible] was My reproach.
فَكَأَيِّن And how many faka-ayyin of min a township qaryatin We have destroyed it ahlaknāhā while it wahiya was doing wrong ẓālimatun so it fahiya fell khāwiyatun on ʿalā its roofs ʿurūshihā and well wabi'rin abandoned muʿaṭṭalatin and castle waqaṣrin lofty mashīdin
And how many a city did We destroy while it was committing wrong - so it is [now] fallen into ruin1 - and [how many] an abandoned well and [how many] a lofty palace.2
أَفَلَمْ So have not afalam they traveled yasīrū in fī the land l-arḍi and is fatakūna for them lahum hearts qulūbun (to) reason yaʿqilūna with it bihā or aw ears ādhānun (to) hear yasmaʿūna with it bihā For indeed, [it] fa-innahā not lā (are) blinded taʿmā the eyes l-abṣāru but walākin (are) blinded taʿmā the hearts l-qulūbu which allatī (are) in fī the breasts l-ṣudūri
So have they not traveled through the earth and have hearts by which to reason and ears by which to hear? For indeed, it is not eyes that are blinded, but blinded are the hearts which are within the breasts.
وَيَسْتَعْجِلُونَكَ And they ask you to hasten wayastaʿjilūnaka the punishment bil-ʿadhābi But never will walan fail/violate yukh'lifa Allah l-lahu (in) His Promise waʿdahu And indeed wa-inna a day yawman with ʿinda your Lord rabbika (is) like a thousand ka-alfi year(s) sanatin of what mimmā you count taʿuddūna
And they urge you to hasten the punishment. But Allāh will never fail in His promise. And indeed, a day with your Lord is like a thousand years of those which you count.
وَكَأَيِّن And how many waka-ayyin of min a township qaryatin I gave respite amlaytu to it lahā while it wahiya (was) doing wrong ẓālimatun Then thumma I seized it akhadhtuhā and to Me wa-ilayya (is) the destination l-maṣīru
And for how many a city did I prolong enjoyment while it was committing wrong. Then I seized it, and to Me is the [final] destination.
قُلْ Say qul O mankind yāayyuhā O mankind l-nāsu Only innamā I am anā to you lakum a warner nadhīrun clear mubīnun
Say, "O people, I am only to you a clear warner."
فَٱلَّذِينَ So those who fa-alladhīna believe āmanū and do waʿamilū righteous deeds l-ṣāliḥāti for them lahum (is) forgiveness maghfiratun and a provision wariz'qun noble karīmun
And those who have believed and done righteous deeds - for them is forgiveness and noble provision.
وَٱلَّذِينَ And those who wa-alladhīna strove saʿaw against fī Our Verses āyātinā (to) cause failure muʿājizīna those ulāika (are the) companions aṣḥābu (of) the Hellfire l-jaḥīmi
But the ones who strove against Our verses, [seeking] to cause failure1 - those are the companions of Hellfire.
وَمَآ And not wamā We sent arsalnā before you min before you qablika any min Messenger rasūlin and not walā a Prophet nabiyyin but illā when idhā he recited tamannā threw alqā the Shaitaan l-shayṭānu in fī his recitation um'niyyatihi But Allah abolishes fayansakhu But Allah abolishes l-lahu what mā throws yul'qī the Shaitaan l-shayṭānu then thumma Allah will establish yuḥ'kimu Allah will establish l-lahu His Verses āyātihi And Allah wal-lahu (is) All-Knower ʿalīmun All-Wise ḥakīmun
And We did not send before you any messenger or prophet except that when he spoke [or recited], Satan threw into it [some misunderstanding]. But Allāh abolishes that which Satan throws in; then Allāh makes precise His verses.1 And Allāh is Knowing and Wise.

O people, an example is presented, so listen to it. Indeed, those you invoke besides Allāh will never create [as much as] a fly, even if they gathered together for it [i.e., that purpose]. And if the fly should steal from them a [tiny] thing, they could not recover it from him. Weak are the pursuer and pursued.1

And strive for Allāh with the striving due to Him. He has chosen you and has not placed upon you in the religion any difficulty. [It is] the religion of your father, Abraham. He [i.e., Allāh] named you "Muslims" before [in former scriptures] and in this [revelation] that the Messenger may be a witness over you and you may be witnesses over the people. So establish prayer and give zakāh and hold fast to Allāh. He is your protector; and excellent is the protector, and excellent is the helper.
