قَالَ He said qāla Then what famā (is) your case khaṭbuka O Samiri yāsāmiriyyu
[Moses] said, "And what is your case, O Sāmirī?"
قَالَ He said qāla I perceived baṣur'tu what bimā not lam they perceive yabṣurū in it bihi so I took faqabaḍtu a handful qabḍatan from min (the) track athari (of) the Messenger l-rasūli then threw it fanabadhtuhā and thus wakadhālika suggested sawwalat to me lī my soul nafsī
He said, "I saw what they did not see, so I took a handful [of dust] from the track of the messenger and threw it, and thus did my soul entice me."
قَالَ He said qāla Then go fa-idh'hab And indeed fa-inna for you laka in fī the life l-ḥayati that an you will say taqūla (Do) not lā touch misāsa And indeed wa-inna for you laka (is) an appointment mawʿidan never lan you will fail to (keep) it tukh'lafahu And look wa-unẓur at ilā your god ilāhika that which alladhī you have remained ẓalta to it ʿalayhi devoted ʿākifan Surely we will burn it lanuḥarriqannahu then thumma certainly we will scatter it lanansifannahu in fī the sea l-yami (in) particles nasfan
[Moses] said, "Then go. And indeed, it is [decreed] for you in [this] life to say, 'No contact.' And indeed, you have an appointment [in the Hereafter] you will not fail to keep. And look at your 'god' to which you remained devoted. We will surely burn it and blow it [i.e., its ashes] into the sea with a blast.
إِنَّمَآ Only innamā your God ilāhukumu (is) Allah l-lahu the One alladhī (there is) no lā god ilāha but illā He huwa He has encompassed wasiʿa all kulla things shayin (in) knowledge ʿil'man
Your god is only Allāh, except for whom there is no deity. He has encompassed all things in knowledge."
