وَمَا And what wamā (is) that til'ka in your right hand biyamīnika O Musa yāmūsā
And what is that in your right hand, O Moses?"
قَالَ He said qāla It hiya (is) my staff ʿaṣāya I lean atawakka-u upon it ʿalayhā and I bring down leaves wa-ahushu with it bihā for ʿalā my sheep ghanamī and for me waliya in it fīhā (are) uses maāribu other ukh'rā
He said, "It is my staff; I lean upon it, and I bring down leaves for my sheep and I have therein other uses."
قَالَ He said qāla Throw it down alqihā O Musa yāmūsā
[Allāh] said, "Throw it down, O Moses."
فَأَلْقَىٰهَا So he threw it down fa-alqāhā and behold fa-idhā It hiya (was) a snake ḥayyatun moving swiftly tasʿā
So he threw it down, and thereupon it was a snake, moving swiftly.
قَالَ He said qāla Seize it khudh'hā and (do) not walā fear takhaf We will return it sanuʿīduhā (to) its state sīratahā the former l-ūlā
[Allāh] said, "Seize it and fear not; We will return it to its former condition.
