وَإِذْ And when wa-idh We said qul'nā to the Angels lil'malāikati Prostrate us'judū to Adam liādama so they prostrated fasajadū except illā Iblis ib'līsa (He) was kāna of mina the jinn l-jini and he rebelled fafasaqa against ʿan the Command amri (of) his Lord rabbihi Will you then take him afatattakhidhūnahu and his offspring wadhurriyyatahu (as) protectors awliyāa other than Me min other than Me dūnī while they wahum (are) to you lakum enemies ʿaduwwun Wretched bi'sa for the wrongdoers lilẓẓālimīna (is) the exchange badalan
And [mention] when We said to the angels, "Prostrate to Adam," and they prostrated, except for Iblees. He was of the jinn and departed from [i.e., disobeyed] the command of his Lord. Then will you take him and his descendants as allies other than Me while they are enemies to you? Wretched it is for the wrongdoers as an exchange.
