فَٱنطَلَقَا So they set out fa-inṭalaqā until ḥattā when idhā they came atayā (to the) people ahla (of) a town qaryatin they asked for food is'taṭʿamā (from) its people ahlahā but they refused fa-abaw to an offer them hospitality yuḍayyifūhumā Then they found fawajadā in it fīhā a wall jidāran (that) want(ed) yurīdu to an collapse yanqaḍḍa so he set it straight fa-aqāmahu He said qāla If law you wished shi'ta surely you (could) have taken lattakhadhta for it ʿalayhi a payment ajran
So they set out, until when they came to the people of a town, they asked its people for food, but they refused to offer them hospitality. And they found therein a wall about to collapse, so he [i.e., al-Khiḍr] restored it. [Moses] said, "If you wished, you could have taken for it a payment."
قَالَ He said qāla This hādhā (is) parting firāqu between me baynī and between you wabaynika I will inform you sa-unabbi-uka of (the) interpretation bitawīli (of) what mā not lam you were able tastaṭiʿ on it ʿalayhi (to have) patience ṣabran
[Al-Khiḍr] said, "This is parting between me and you. I will inform you of the interpretation of that about which you could not have patience.
