وَٱضْرِبْ And present wa-iḍ'rib to them lahum the example mathala (of) the life l-ḥayati (of) the world l-dun'yā like water kamāin which We send down anzalnāhu from mina the sky l-samāi then mingles fa-ikh'talaṭa with it bihi (the) vegetation nabātu (of) the earth l-arḍi then becomes fa-aṣbaḥa dry stalks hashīman it (is) scattered tadhrūhu (by) the winds l-riyāḥu And Allah wakāna And Allah l-lahu over ʿalā every kulli thing shayin (is) All Able muq'tadiran
And present to them the example of the life of this world, [its being] like rain which We send down from the sky, and the vegetation of the earth mingles with it and [then] it becomes dry remnants, scattered by the winds. And Allāh is ever, over all things, Perfect in Ability.
ٱلْمَالُ The wealth al-mālu and children wal-banūna (are) adornment zīnatu (of) the life l-ḥayati (of) the world l-dun'yā But the enduring wal-bāqiyātu good deeds l-ṣāliḥātu (are) better khayrun near ʿinda your Lord rabbika (for) reward thawāban and better wakhayrun (for) hope amalan
Wealth and children are [but] adornment of the worldly life. But the enduring good deeds are better to your Lord for reward and better for [one's] hope.
