مَا Not mā you worship taʿbudūna besides Him min besides Him dūnihi but illā names asmāan which you have named them sammaytumūhā you antum and your forefathers waābāukum not mā (has) sent down anzala Allah l-lahu for it bihā any min authority sul'ṭānin Not ini (is) the command l-ḥuk'mu but illā for Allah lillahi He has commanded amara that not allā you worship taʿbudū but illā Him Alone iyyāhu That dhālika (is) the religion l-dīnu the right l-qayimu but walākinna most akthara [the] men l-nāsi (do) not lā know yaʿlamūna
You worship not besides Him except [mere] names you have named them,1 you and your fathers, for which Allāh has sent down no evidence. Legislation is not but for Allāh. He has commanded that you worship not except Him. That is the correct religion, but most of the people do not know.
