وَجَآءَتْ And there came wajāat a caravan sayyāratun and they sent fa-arsalū their water drawer wāridahum then he let down fa-adlā his bucket dalwahu He said qāla O good news yābush'rā This hādhā (is) a boy ghulāmun And they hid him wa-asarrūhu (as) a merchandise biḍāʿatan And Allah wal-lahu (is) All-Knower ʿalīmun of what bimā they do yaʿmalūna
And there came a company of travelers; then they sent their water drawer, and he let down his bucket. He said, "Good news! Here is a boy." And they concealed him, [taking him] as merchandise; and Allāh was Knowing of what they did.
وَشَرَوْهُ And they sold him washarawhu for a price bithamanin very low bakhsin dirhams darāhima few maʿdūdatin and they were wakānū about him fīhi of mina those keen to give up l-zāhidīna
And they sold him for a reduced price - a few dirhams - and they were, concerning him, of those content with little.
