قَالَ He said qāla O my people yāqawmi Do you see ara-aytum if in I am kuntu on ʿalā a clear evidence bayyinatin from min my Lord rabbī and He has provided me warazaqanī from Himself min'hu a good provision riz'qan a good provision ḥasanan And not wamā I intend urīdu that an I differ from you ukhālifakum in ilā what mā I forbid you anhākum from it ʿanhu Not in I intend urīdu except illā the reform l-iṣ'lāḥa as much as I am able mā as much as I am able is'taṭaʿtu And not wamā (is) my success tawfīqī except illā with Allah bil-lahi Upon Him ʿalayhi I trust tawakkaltu and to Him wa-ilayhi I turn unību
He said, "O my people, have you considered: if I am upon clear evidence from my Lord and He has provided me with a good provision from Him...?1 And I do not intend to differ from you in that which I have forbidden you; I only intend reform as much as I am able. And my success is not but through Allāh. Upon Him I have relied, and to Him I return.2
