وَهُوَ And He wahuwa (is) the One Who alladhī created khalaqa the heavens l-samāwāti and the earth wal-arḍa in fī six sittati epochs ayyāmin and His throne was wakāna and His throne was ʿarshuhu on ʿalā the water l-māi that He might test [you] liyabluwakum which of you ayyukum (is) best aḥsanu (in) deed ʿamalan But if wala-in you say qul'ta Indeed, you innakum (will be) resurrected mabʿūthūna after min after baʿdi [the] death l-mawti surely would say layaqūlanna those who alladhīna disbelieved kafarū This is not in This is not hādhā but illā a magic siḥ'run clear mubīnun
And it is He who created the heavens and the earth in six days - and His Throne had been upon water - that He might test you as to which of you is best in deed. But if you say, "Indeed, you are resurrected after death," those who disbelieve will surely say, "This is not but obvious magic."
وَلَئِنْ And if wala-in We delay akharnā from them ʿanhumu the punishment l-ʿadhāba for ilā a time ummatin determined maʿdūdatin they will surely say layaqūlunna What mā detains it yaḥbisuhu No doubt alā (On) the Day yawma it comes to them yatīhim not laysa (will be) averted maṣrūfan from them ʿanhum and will surround waḥāqa them bihim what mā they used (to) kānū mock at [it] bihi mock at [it] yastahziūna
And if We hold back from them the punishment for a limited time, they will surely say, "What detains it?" Unquestionably, on the Day it comes to them, it will not be averted from them, and they will be enveloped by what they used to ridicule.
وَلَئِنْ And if wala-in We give man a taste adhaqnā We give man a taste l-insāna (of) Mercy from Us minnā (of) Mercy from Us raḥmatan then thumma We withdraw it nazaʿnāhā from him min'hu indeed, he innahu (is) despairing layaūsun (and) ungrateful kafūrun
And if We give man a taste of mercy from Us and then We withdraw it from him, indeed, he is despairing and ungrateful.
وَلَئِنْ But if wala-in We give him a taste adhaqnāhu (of) favor naʿmāa after baʿda hardship ḍarrāa (has) touched him massathu surely, he will say layaqūlanna Have gone dhahaba the evils l-sayiātu from me ʿannī Indeed, he innahu (is) exultant lafariḥun (and) boastful fakhūrun
But if We give him a taste of favor after hardship has touched him, he will surely say, "Bad times have left me." Indeed, he is exultant and boastful -
إِلَّا Except illā those who alladhīna (are) patient ṣabarū and do waʿamilū the good deeds l-ṣāliḥāti those ulāika for them lahum (will be) forgiveness maghfiratun and a reward wa-ajrun great kabīrun
Except for those who are patient and do righteous deeds; those will have forgiveness and great reward.
