Al-`Ādiyāt
The Courser
﷽
العاديات
وَٱلْعَـٰدِيَـٰتِ By the racers wal-ʿādiyāti panting ḍabḥan
By the racers, panting,1
فَٱلْمُورِيَـٰتِ And the producers of sparks fal-mūriyāti striking qadḥan
And the producers of sparks [when] striking1
فَٱلْمُغِيرَٰتِ And the chargers fal-mughīrāti (at) dawn ṣub'ḥan
And the chargers at dawn,1
فَأَثَرْنَ Then raise fa-atharna thereby bihi dust naqʿan
Stirring up thereby [clouds of] dust,
فَوَسَطْنَ Then penetrate (in the) center fawasaṭna thereby bihi collectively jamʿan
Arriving thereby in the center1 collectively,
إِنَّ Indeed inna mankind l-insāna to his Lord lirabbihi (is) surely ungrateful lakanūdun
Indeed mankind, to his Lord, is ungrateful.
وَإِنَّهُۥ And indeed, he wa-innahu on ʿalā that dhālika surely (is) a witness lashahīdun
And indeed, he is to that a witness.1
وَإِنَّهُۥ And indeed he wa-innahu in (the) love liḥubbi (of) wealth l-khayri (is) surely intense lashadīdun
And indeed he is, in love of wealth, intense.
۞ أَفَلَا But does not afalā he know yaʿlamu when idhā will be scattered buʿ'thira what mā (is) in fī the graves l-qubūri
But does he not know that when the contents of the graves are scattered
وَحُصِّلَ And is made apparent waḥuṣṣila what mā (is) in fī the breasts l-ṣudūri
And that within the breasts is obtained,1
إِنَّ Indeed inna their Lord rabbahum about them bihim that Day yawma-idhin (is) surely All-Aware lakhabīrun
Indeed, their Lord with them, that Day, is [fully] Aware.1
