وَإِذَا And when wa-idhā are recited tut'lā to them ʿalayhim Our Verses āyātunā (as) clear proofs bayyinātin said qāla those who alladhīna (do) not lā hope yarjūna (for the) meeting (with) Us liqāanā Bring us i'ti a Quran biqur'ānin other (than) ghayri this hādhā or aw change it baddil'hu Say qul Not mā (it) is yakūnu for me lī that an I change it ubaddilahu of min my own accord til'qāi my own accord nafsī Not in I follow attabiʿu except illā what mā is revealed yūḥā to me ilayya Indeed, I innī [I] fear akhāfu if in I were to disobey ʿaṣaytu my Lord rabbī (the) punishment ʿadhāba (of) a Day yawmin Great ʿaẓīmin
And when Our verses are recited to them as clear evidences, those who do not expect the meeting with Us say, "Bring us a Qur’ān other than this or change it." Say, [O Muḥammad], "It is not for me to change it on my own accord. I only follow what is revealed to me. Indeed I fear, if I should disobey my Lord, the punishment of a tremendous Day."
قُل Say qul If law (had) willed shāa Allah l-lahu not mā I (would) have recited it talawtuhu to you ʿalaykum and not walā He (would) have made it known to you adrākum He (would) have made it known to you bihi Verily faqad I have stayed labith'tu among you fīkum a lifetime ʿumuran before it min before it qablihi Then will not afalā you use reason taʿqilūna
Say, "If Allāh had willed, I would not have recited it to you, nor would He have made it known to you, for I had remained among you a lifetime before it. Then will you not reason?"
فَمَنْ So who faman (is) more wrong aẓlamu than he who mimmani invents if'tarā against ʿalā Allah l-lahi a lie kadhiban or aw denies kadhaba His Signs biāyātihi Indeed innahu not lā will succeed yuf'liḥu the criminals l-muj'rimūna
So who is more unjust than he who invents a lie about Allāh or denies His signs? Indeed, the criminals will not succeed.
