Al-Fātiĥah
The Opener
الفاتحة
بِسْمِ In (the) name bis'mi (of) Allah l-lahi the Most Gracious l-raḥmāni the Most Merciful l-raḥīmi
In the name of Allāh,1 the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful.2
ٱلْحَمْدُ All praises and thanks al-ḥamdu (be) to Allah lillahi the Lord rabbi of the universe l-ʿālamīna
[All] praise is [due] to Allāh, Lord1 of the worlds -
ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ The Most Gracious al-raḥmāni the Most Merciful l-raḥīmi
The Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful,
مَـٰلِكِ (The) Master māliki (of the) Day yawmi (of the) Judgment l-dīni
Sovereign of the Day of Recompense.1
إِيَّاكَ You Alone iyyāka we worship naʿbudu and You Alone wa-iyyāka we ask for help nastaʿīnu
It is You we worship and You we ask for help.
ٱهْدِنَا Guide us ih'dinā (to) the path l-ṣirāṭa the straight l-mus'taqīma
Guide us to the straight path -
صِرَٰطَ (The) path ṣirāṭa (of) those alladhīna You have bestowed (Your) Favors anʿamta on them ʿalayhim not (of) ghayri those who earned (Your) wrath l-maghḍūbi on themselves ʿalayhim and not walā (of) those who go astray l-ḍālīna
The path of those upon whom You have bestowed favor, not of those who have earned [Your] anger or of those who are astray.
