Homosexuality in Islam

Why is Homosexuality a Sin?

It is not a secret that similar to other religions Homosexuality is not permitted in Islam and is seen as Haram (a major sin), but why? Many have read the story of the Prophet Lut (Lot) and the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah. In Islam it is seen as unnatural and against God to follow in the ways of Homosexuality. It is stated that a relationship is between a man and women. Many have the belief that feeling that way toward the same gender does not make you a worthy Muslim, but it is believed in Islam that unless your sinful urges are acted upon, you will not be committing a sin.

"And as for the two of you men who are guilty of lewdness, punish them both. And if they repent and improve, then let them be. Lo! Allah is Merciful."

Can Muslims be Homosexual

While Homosexuality is not permitted in Islam, anybody is welcome into Islam. While Muslims have an obligation to try and guide those that are commiting sins, this should not be done through violence and they should not criticize publicly. As trying to guide using these tactics could cause those Muslims to be commiting a sin of their own.
